"What a magnificent course! I questioned whether any course could be worth $300+ for a round. The answer is an emphatic YES! This is the best course I have ever played. I was a little intimidated before playing, after reading the Spyglass website about how narrow the fairways were, how troublesome the rough was, etc . . So I had a case of serious nerves going into the round. Those nerves were quickly put to rest. We were paired up with two guys from SoCal and their caddy Dave. The landing areas are plenty wide, it is the approaches to the greens that can get you into trouble here. RTJ uses the environment nature provided, view, ocean, canyons, and trees to give you a stern test. The greens were faster than any I had ever putted, but they rolled true and smooth. The course makes you think, but it rewards good shots, and penalizes (sometimes severely) poor shots. That's in my mind, what a remarkable course should do. From the moment we pulled up, to the deer on the driving range, the final putt on 18, until we pulled out of the parking lot, this could not have been a more enjoyable round of golf. It was about 4.5 hours of drama, excitement, laughter, and tears that it seemed to end too soon. Would I play this course again? . . In a heartbeat!!!!"
