"Took advantage of a special $49 Memorial Day rate; outstanding value for the holiday. Golf course is in good overall shape, although there a few thin spots in a few of the fairways; same goes for the rough. Sand traps, because of the recent rain, were hard-packed and a challenge if you needed to hit a high, soft escape. Best to opt for the low bounce wedge here until things dry out. The greens, however, are in great shape with few unrepaired ball marks. Softened a bit from the rain a few days ago, they held very well yet putted at a reasonable speed. Get on the correct side of the hole and you have a very good chance of making some putts. Ball rolled smooth and true on just about every green. Kudos to the staff. Pace of play was excellent: teed off at 7:45am and tapped in on #18 at noon. Course was full yet everyone moved along at a good clip and the marshalls seemed to have an easy day of it. Not sure if things always move along so well here but it is surely a plus. Eastlake is a relatively short layout with some definite birdie holes that can be attacked, but there are still a handful of holes that will test your game, particularly when the wind is up. The triple-tiered green on the Par-3 fourth hole is always an issue when trying to select the proper club and the tee shot on the Par-3 12th, especially from the back tees, is as good as it gets. A fairly benign layout, but a lot of fun to play just the same."
