Played as a single for $11 off GolfNow June 27th at 1:00pm in this Queen Creek, neighborhood golf course. The staff inside the club shop was apt, it was the PGA Professional there that welcomed me and offered me to play alone as I showed up 40 minutes early to check this place out. I've heard of this place as a meat and potatoes golf course, and I would be inclined to agree. The staff wasn't too present, but it's summer. I don't blame them. I prepped my cart myself and was on my way. The course presents itself as a high school/muni type community course so conditions are wavering. The tee boxes were trimmed nicely and allowed for really any setup among the 5 tee boxes. The fairways were good, nothing lush or perfectly trimmed but allowed for approach shots to have spin and accuracy when needed. Fairways sat the ball up well, however the edges of the fairways and rough is where things may get dicey. The rough was infested with that crab grass weed, not really any type of grown out rough but more so untrimmed weeds that only seemed maintained by the tires of golf carts. The sand in the bunkers were raked but nothing fluffy or noticeably immaculate. The greens were small and very soft, held true when putted upon without any visually present divot marks. The fringe was very prevalent, well cut and held any missed green shots allowing for any green side wedge shots to be played, I was thoroughly impressed with them. This place is a golf course, one that is playable and enjoyable. I shot my best score relative to par ever here and throughout the day, I was looking around and just taking everything in trying to think of how I would encapsulate what this course presents. It's not really challenging, nor is it long in any fashion, the design doesn't capture the minds of what some would seek but it did leave me with this; it's a place to tee it up and knock a little ball into a hole. The tee boxes had trimmed grass, the fairways had a good consistent texture, the greens were nice to putt on and hit shots into, the bunkers had sand...isn't that a golf course? I'd say if you haven't played this course but have heard about it, you might want to drive out here and play. If you've played it once and don't live close, you might not return and stay to replay it again and again. But hey, not every course will be a must play, and that's okay.

Played as part of a twosome, paired up with a single at 9:15am, actually got out at 9:08am.

Perfect day for golf, and a nice way to start my 2015 golfing campaign. Las Colinas is a very meat and potatoes course, nothing fancy, just a solid course mostly catering to locals and those who are local six months out of the year. Very good service today from the clubhouse guy, the starter and the cart girl, all were on point.

Tee boxes are all in good shape even on the par 3s, not too many divot marks making it difficult to find a spot from which to hit. Fairways are green with some bare patches, some areas a little thicker due to winter coverage (before the summer heat burns it down). No real rough to speak of, if you hit off the fairway you're either in dirt/rocks or slightly higher than normal grass. Really pleased with the greens; they rolled very true, were moderately fast and very few bumps to be found. I had numerous putts of prodigious length, and only one 3-putt, as the balls went where they were aimed. PoP was approximately 3 hours 40 minutes, which is quite nice for this time of year.

Mid-summer report on this nice little course in the SE county: Tee boxes firming up but still in good-to-very-good shape; greens were recently punched, still showing signs so they're a bit bouncy; soft to hit in to but moderately fast paced with little break in most putts. Fairways freshly cut and running like Usain Bolt. Worst part of the course are the bunkers, most of which I would politely categorize as in need of upgrades. The recent monsoons have knocked out quite a few branches from various trees, but otherwise very playable. A nice course to have a relaxing round on, not overly taxing. One of the best (and best valued) driving ranges in this part of town. You'll never confuse this place with Augusta National, but every ball I hit in the fairway had a good lie.

Update for April 2013: Played with two other singles on a beautiful sunny Phoenix afternoon. Sadly, everyone else was playing here as well, resulting in very slow pace of play for April, clocking in at 4.5 hours. Course itself is in the shape you'd expect LC to be in: fairways are short, green and run forever, teeboxes are showing some wear (especially on the par 3s) but, the tee box area is so large on most holes it'll be easy for the club to move them around. Greens were faster than expected--if you hit a hard shot into them it was not going to hold. Must have fixed about 30-40 ball marks while playing; people here don't seem to understand the concept of keeping decent greens in decent shape. The two bunkers I found had minimal sand, but enough to still play a decent shot of them. Others looked like they could be putt out of. Excellent, inexpensive facilities (grass driving range, large putting green, large chipping green), cart girl came around multiple times on both sides, though I would recommend bringing your own cooler when it heats up this summer. Fun course, definitely worth the $ greens fee. CP

were also in great shape. It is a feel good course. Rather shortish, no do or dire shots.
Not many bunkers, but they are deep and rather thin on sand. If you hit the ball semi straight you should score well. Overall a very good relaxing and affordable golf course

This is a course that gives good bang for the buck. It is what I call a feel good course. It has a fun and pretty easy layout, but it always seems to be in pretty good shape. The fairways are pretty wide open, with some trees lining some of them to get you in trouble. There are not any forced carries over water or bunkers. Green can get a bit tricky depending on the pin placement. The green speed is medium speed. All in all a decent course.

Played Jan 16. Another subdivision course, about average. Course is a simple design, no surprises or tricks. Wide landing areas although they are rolling. Greens were smooth and average speed, some have severe slope. Enjoyed playing here, for a Sunday play was very fast, marshal kept things moving. Very friendly staff, beverage cart by many times. For $45 including balls and lunch, a no-brainer.

I love Las Colinas. It's a great value that is close by. The staff always treats me like a friend and the course is usually in great shape, even in the middle of the summer. Not an overpowering course, but a fun test even for the low handicappers
