Played here 8/14. Tee time was set for 8:42. Did not tee off until after 9 AM. Ominous sign for the day. The course was in good condition considering the summer heat. Fairways were very green with great coverage throughout. Tee boxes were covered but as soft as mud (not blaming the course due to a monsoon that hit the night before).

Greens- 7/10 Soft due to rain but by about hole 6. Dried out and ran faster then Usain Bolt.

fairways- 9/10 Fairways played true with good rolls. Coverage throughout which was great with very few dead spots, if any.

rough- 2/10 THICK. Ball was pretty much plugged every time it would find the rough.

sand- 2/10 Essentially extended water hazards (again due to rain)

water- 9/10 Good place of hazards and not overbearing and in random spots.

tee boxes- 7/10 Very soft but again due to rain. No dead spots which was great.

POP was 6 hours. I think this was partly due to other players in the group, but it was excessively long. Waited, on the front 9 specifically, at every tee box. As mentioned earlier, the course was delayed in getting us out. I knew internally this was going to be a sign of the day. The course was in great condition. It is a fun track due to it being a tail of 3 styles. 6 holes are resort style, 6 holes are community style weaving through a neighborhood, and 6 holes are true desert golf with great elevation change.

Played an early morning round and finished in less than 3 1/2 hours which is great. Difficult course to park and drop off clubs if you are not a resort guest. Good not great service but cart attendants and drink carts were attentive and timely. Driving range has been eliminated and can only warm up in nets now. Practice green is small and is not in good condition. Carts do not have GPS and range finders are difficult to use given blind shots. Needs to have a GPS type range device to pay course effectively. Lots of blind landings and carry to specific spots required. Cart paths are rough. .Course conditions were very good. Greens are slow but in good condition. Fairways were above average for this time of year. Good value and played quickly but likely will not play here again with other choices that are better playing options.

Played the Grand on June 24th at around 1:05pm for $17 from calling into the shop. The staff was out on a hot summer Sunday attentive to every need my two-some had. Mango towels offered by the ranger who made sure everyone also stayed on pace and the cart girl was seen three times total on the front nine.

The course was feeling summer a little bit extra this summer as compared to the past. Can't blame extreme temperatures because it's been about average as everyone here knows, but the greens were dried on the edges, the fairways were thin and browning (not hard pan but it was visible especially in the barren rough spots) as well as the rough. The rough was long and hard to hack out of near the green however the fairway's guard is more so the native desert area. The tee boxes were excellent, however there were two par 3's that were rough. Overall the conditions were very playable however the conditions can be improved.

The course is laid out with the first 6 or 7 holes being typical resort, water based holes. However the back nine becomes distinctly desert target golf basically taking out the driver from your hands if you hit any longer than 250. I like this course for the staff and the course is consistent with what you get; cheap playable resort golf that is usually desolate of a myriad of golfers making your round ridiculously above 5 hours.

Playable, but don't go out of your way.

Well, it's May and my golf season is back into form. My usual suspect for the season opening is this course because on yesterday May 7th, I was able to book a tee time before twilight for only $30. Played as a single and played 18 holes in 3 hours and 50 minutes. Passed a few people thanks to the marshal Al and was able to see the cart girl 3 times.

This course was in the best shape I've seen it in for years. The first green usually plagued by hideous bare spots was no longer dry. Actually lush and rolled true. All the greens were like this except the 18th (rather large bare spot but they were working on it as I noticed). The fairways and neighboring rough (about 15 or so feet of the fairways) were lush. I didn't come upon a bad lie all day. The tee boxes were great (I played from the tips and noticed some other tee boxes were recovering but those were the par 3's) and level, great softness to insert your tee into.

I was incredibly impressed with the conditions, really allowed the beauty to shine for this great layout of a course. Truly a hidden gem with the price value you receive in regards to location, views, and layout.

A note as I did play a few holes with different groups throughout the day and their one nagging complaint was "This course is so hard to drive on!" Well of course pal! It's layout challenges you to hit irons and woods off the tee to set up your second shot into the green. Most par 5's are get-able, no Par 3 is over powering and no par 4 requires an extremely long second shot. So, hit your favorite long iron to your favorite wedge distance and get to sharpening those 12 footers for birdie!

I played Arizona Grand on 10-21-16. The service at the bag drop, the pro shop and the starter were all excellent. The course was cart paths only due to over seeding but a check of greenskeeper.org had me prepared to do some walking. The tee boxes were in fair shape with some being uneven and others having numerous divots. The fairways were inconsistently mowed with patches of grass 1 to 3 inches in several fairways. The greens putted slow but true with no significant damage. I was not in a bunker all day but the bunkers looked well groomed with moderately firm sand. The front nine of this course is a resort type course but the back nine becomes a true desert course with forced carries, water in play, and elevation changes. The front nine is mostly bordered by the resort but the back nine has many natural desert views. I would play this course again but I would wait until the fairways were open and look for a discount on GolfNow.com or TeeOff.com

I love this course as the service is always top notch, course is easily worth the money, and usually well spaced out for leisurely pace of play. Paid 30 bucks on GolfNow. The starter was well experienced and handled chaos very well with how busy it was. Handled the incoming tee times while others were finishing up like a champ with only one other employee. Bravo. Carol the cart girl came around 4 times, plenty helpful as well as Al with the amazing Mango scented towels that are MONEY during summer in AZ.

The courses conditions were on par with what this course usually brings in summer (my other reviews dive deeper and I have pictures uploading right now to check out!) and that means bare spots just off fairways and a few greens with ugly bare spots. There are about 2 greens that are disgusting, but ironically enough those were two of my 4 birdie putts made! The fairways were solid but definitely a bit thirsty. They could've been greener to appease the eyes however the texture and cut was very consistent. The tees were clean and level except for about 2 par 3s that were rough and un-level. Divots can be clean however this course gets a bunch of traffic.

My favorite part of this course isn't just the price or service but the difference and style of nine's on this layout. Front is your watery/tropical golf. Miss fairways away from water and miss greens...away from water and you'll make par. With a mix of elevation changes. The back nine might be my most favorite back nine in AZ (for this price range). The elevation, desert target golf, and constant risk/reward design makes for an exciting and beautiful sights of the west valley and south mountain.

I have many likes of this course from service, cost, and challenge...however my only gripe is the maintenance needs a reboot. But I highly recommend this course to everyone!

Played AZ Grand on May 25th with a tee time of 3:04 pm costing $27. The starter was a teen that informed me that after 11 am it died down, surprising for a Memorial Day that was blessed with 80 degree weather in AZ. Fellow Arizonians will agree weather like that is amazing. I was one of 5 golfers on the course so he let me head out when I pleased. The tee time includes driving range balls, which is behind the third hole and you hit into nets with a FANTASTIC view of the East Valley. Customer service has, is, and hopefully always will be great at this course.

The course itself was in great shape compared to other courses in its price range. Its a shame that people haven't reviewed this course since I last played last year around this same time of year. However, this course has improved in many areas since last year. Greens used to be ridden with dry spots and terrible burn marks, but they are heading towards improvements with multiple new sprinklers around greens and low point absorbing units. The tee boxes are lush and any divots have been filled by the superintendent Dick. The fairways have some bare spots on the highest points of the course but it is on parts of the rough/fairways you shouldn't be hitting towards anyways. Bunkers are great, fluffy sand, and always raked.

Strategically, this course tests every club and your accuracy of the tee and into forced carries into greens. Distance control is HUGE. The second is a great example as you must not hit your driver or you may reach the water which is 250-287 off the tee depending what set you play off of. Then your approach into the green will likely be a soft 9 iron or cutoff wedge which must fly a 15 foot elevation change. Many holes require you to use the neat yardage book included with the golf cart behind the scorecard holder. Into most greens, the slope will change your club selection and the amount of spin you put on the ball must be controlled. Back nine is target golf while front nine is water ridden and elevation changes. Well worth any greens fee up to $60.

Played on May 28th, 2014 with a 3:04 pm tee time for only $23. For the price, it would be tough to find a course with better scenery of the valley, (18th hole is worth the tee time itself). The great thing about this course is the length, I am a rather low handicapper from the tips, while my dad is a high handicapper from the forward tees. Both of us ended up hitting the same clubs off the tee and on the approach shots. Super fun. No need to use a driver though through my experience. Only used it twice.

Yes, the first hole had some burn spots on the green, but every other green was great. The cart girl was leaving the course while we were on the 2nd tee, but we didn't even need her. The front nine is quite different from the back nine. We had a blast with a bit of challenge on the par 3's and reachable par 4's.

The 18th is worth the $23 IMHO. The scene is great for snapping pictures and really captures the whole valley in one glance. On a smog free night, you can even see the Cardinals stadium in Glendale. I will be uploading the tons of pictures we took soon, but the course is well worth the $23, not sure about the peak hours of $45-$100 though.

Desert style holes within a moutain terrian. Course was in good shape last week. Green ran slow/medium but smooth. Fairway mostly lush. Rough short. But in the end, I would rather play elsewhere. A lot of better tracks out there for less money.
