Played here 7:00 Sunday morning - POP 4:30 I love playing here as it's a true test to see where your game is at. The few times I have been it does play slow as it is so difficult people struggle. Greens were perfect. Had a little moisture from the morning so the chips had some check, and they rolled absolutely true. No bumps or dried out areas on these greens. Fairways were great. No dry patches, just the colors turning for summer. A few fairways had some muddy spots from spinklers and divot damage but that getting picky. The grass around the greens is getting dried out and dormant, the yellow and browns are coming in but very playabale. Visually the course is making the transition to summer, but is still in great shape. Awesome track with always great prices for the locals.

It's funny how much how well you play as well as the quality of your playing partners affects your enjoyment of a course. I played with the most nightmarishly slow group and played the worst I have in 2 months. Yet still was blown away by the course.

SunRidge Canyon is the first course finished with the reseed in the area.
I wanted to play a special course after being let down by everything following Quintero and SunRidge delivered. Every hole is different and takes advantage of the extreme natural topography. The Tips on this course are very challenging. The sight lines and visual cues from the tips are tough. Even well placed tee shots were offline due to the offset fairways. Driving accuracy and up and downhill distance control are musts here. You have to be generous with the club up on the uphill shots here.

The turf is growing in well from the reseed. What is unique about this course are it's green side bunkers and rough. They leave the rough very thick around the greens which you don't see around here. The bunkers have sheer walls. What they have done is stacked sod to make the lips, so they are literally square edged pot bunkers around the green. Both elements provide a little Scottish links feel which I enjoyed.

The sod hasn't set around the bunkers, and there was flood damage around the rough from the recent monsoons. The greens were clean with no ball marks but still running medium/fast because of the rain.

Easily a top 5 track in the Phoenix/Scottsdale Area and by far a top 3 most difficult.

Played here on a Saturday 6.30.18, tee time at 6:30am. $60 is a great deal for that early of a tee time here. First thing... The drive in alone with the sunrise over the course was amazing. Absolutely beautiful layout, noticeable right away. You could tell the Summer grass has really come in, greens were rolling very smooth and medium-fast speeds (perfect imo). Just enough so you had to have some touch on your putts, but nothing so fast that a 5 footer down hill makes you sweat. Some of the fairways had recently been plugged in some areas but nothing to scoff about. Rough was in decent shape, some areas roped off. There also were some ground under repair on probably 5-6 holes, mostly work being done on the bunkers. The 'Wicked 6' (the finishing six holes, supposedly the toughest 6 hole stretch in the area) really lived up to the name. As a 14 hc, playing those final 6 holes at 4 over felt like a great accomplishment. With a birdie on the Par 3 14th to boot. The opening Par 5 13th is a long one, UP HILL the entire way. 1-10 scale Course conditions Tee boxes: 8/10 (Some weren't very level, a lot of divots for the 2nd tee time on a Saturday. Gold tees played) Fairways: 7/10 (only because of some mild plugging which is routine for this time of year) Greens: 8/10 (Rare areas of dry patches, but great other than that) Rough: 9/10 (Some areas ground under repair, but shorter but thick and in good shape. Consistent coverage, not a lot of areas 'burned out') Bunkers: 8/10 (Only because there were a few that were ground under repair, other than that the sand was pretty soft and nice to hit out of. No hard pan). Overall: 8.5/10, HIGHLY recommend. Manicured well, everything in great summer shape. Customer service: Cart hands: 9/10 (Very helpful, had all carts lined up early and ready to go, hustled to their destination did not 'lollygag') Pro shop: 8/10 (Was a little late opening up, but was very nice and helpful) Starter: 9/10 (Kind older gentleman, very helpful for what to do on the first tee. Which is a great hole actually). HIGHLY recommended if you're in the area, worth the drive from anywhere in the PHX area. I am really excited to play this course in peak season conditions this winter.

A fun, challenging course in Fountain Hills. Was able to book my last week of December round for $85 a few weeks in advance. This is a great price for such a nice caliber golf course.

A fun, challenging course in Fountain Hills. Was able to book my last week of December round for $85 a few weeks in advance. This is a great price for such a nice caliber golf course.

Course was in immaculate shape. Greens were 12+ on the stimp, making approach shots and putts very difficult. Fairways, bunkers, and tee boxes were in immaculate shape.

Course is one of the most challenging in the Phoenix area. The last six holes are appropriately dubbed "the Wicked Six," a set of two par 3's, 4's, and 5's, all playing uphill.

Great customer service in the pro shop and on the course. This is one of the Phoenix/Scottsdale areas best courses to play at the price.

After playing We-Ko-Pa in the morning, Friday Feb. 27, we made our way down the road to SunRidge. We were greeted by a very friendly cart attendant who provided the best service I've ever received at a golf course. He drove us over to the range, gave us a breakdown of the facility, and gave us an overview of the course on the first tee. Upon completing our round, the same guy walked us over to the lounge and then went to lock our clubs in our car. He actually got our keys, took our golf bags, secured them into the car, and brought back the keys to us while we enjoyed drinks at the bar. Unbelievable. :) Anyway, the clubhouse is really nice and lots of people were enjoying the beauty of the facilities after their round. As for the golf course, it was pretty dry which made for big bounces, barely any divots, and lightning fast puts. The greens should've been called yellows but they rolled true and were the slickest I've putted on in ages! Overall, the conditions weren't immaculate but solid all around. It was somewhat odd that certain parts of the course were really lush and some of the rough was really thick while other parts were dry and tight. Tee boxes were level and good. Bunkers were filled with sand that was almost clay like and heavy but they played well. The wicked six finishing holes were pretty challenging especially with the strong wind blowing directly into us. I found the layout of the entire course to be interesting and for the most part, each hole had its own unique character. Upon finishing, the club house was poppin with live music. I'd definitely come back. Oh yeah, the cart girl was on it and she was around numerous times.

Played Sun Ridge Canyon 3/27/14. Course is located in Fountain Hills AZ so its just over an hour drive from the west side of Phoenix.
Tremendous facility, check in is quick and easy and very friendly. Club house large and well stocked, along with a very good restaurant. Practice facility is large for a range in width but lacks enough hitting locations. Excellent short game area with multiple flags and practice bunker. Practice greens are of good size, one on the upper area and one located below across from the dining area, the bottom green seems to be more realistic of conditions one will find on the course.
Playing from the combo tees one will get a challenge at just under 6400 yards of a beautiful course. Tees are well kept and manicured quite well 9out of 10 here with mostly elevated positions but slightly undersized.
Fairways receive 10 out of 10, well maintained and defined, lush with just enough honest roll.
Rough 7 out of 10, to penal for errant shots but still not where you would like to be, 2-4 inches and sitting up in most cases.
Bunkers 10 out of 10, a joy to play from! one of the only courses in AZ area to incorporate white beach sand into fairway and green side bunkers, fluffy white sand with a hint of brown, ranging in depth from 4-7 inches enabling any shot you wish to play and maintained to the highest level.
Greens 9 out of 10, med to fast speed holding shots well, very few to any ball marks noted, with undulating surfaces that are large and present multiple levels.
The last Six holes here are nick named the WICKED SIX, coming in at 544, 160, 439, 515 and 400 yards from the Gold Tees. These tremendous holes are up hill through the canyon dead red into a stiff breeze with tight landing zones, deep well placed bunkers with water coming into play three times. All of these holes will require an extra club to get it on the green, as being short or bailing out is not a great option due to the raised greens and deep bunkers/rough and wind into your face. This course is a must play when in the area, as WE-KO-PA, Dinosaur Mountain, and Eagle Mountain are all with in a few miles of each other, you will get this course at a much better rate, but all were worth playing this time out for my yearly trip make it 54 holes for these courses and enjoy Sun Ridge canyon.

Played here on 10/5, and for playing on the second day after post-overseeding re-opening, the course is in fantastic shape, highlighted by the greens. Sixpez mentioned the biggest issue here right now, which is the lush rough surrounding virtually every green. I imagine they just don't want to cut that down too short too quickly, so you pay a price for missing the green. There are some inconsistencies to be found in the fairways (some lush and some still showing signs of tilling or whatever that is that makes ridges in them) and also the bunkers (some have much more sand than others).

Overall I loved the layout and highly recommend this course.

The biggest complaint I had will hopefully be resolved soon. Along with their closure, they got new GPS units that behaved erratically. Due to just re-opening, the course was playing as Cart Path Only and our cart kept thinking we were off the path, which then prevents the cart from traveling faster than 2 miles per hour. This was extremely frustrating to say the least. It usually worked itself out within a minute, but was still annoying, especially at a high-end course. Also the GPS couldn't find a signal at certain times, leaving us guessing how far we had. We spoke to the staff after our round and they said they're aware of some issues and they'll be fine tuning the new GPS system to work out the kinks.

P.S. I agree with Keith about the "Wicked Six." Felt like purely a marketing gimmick to me. I didn't notice those six holes being noticeably more difficult or in any way much different than the previous 12. There are a few great and beautiful holes in there, though!

P.P.S. The 17th hole is unique in that it has two different tees, allowing the hole to be played from two entirely different directions, but to the same green. One direction is over a canyon and about 190 yards, and the other is 130 yards with no forced carry. I thought that was very creative and cool.

For our morning round Saturday, Itslikeimsayin and I played Sunridge Canyon. We knew they were closed all summer for major maintenance, so our fingers were crossed as we came up to the course that things would be green and lush after just re-opening. We were pleasantly surprised to see things looking great. Booked a 7:35 on GN for $79 (plus a few bucks extra for AZ tax). We got out on time paired with another twosome. They space the tee times pretty well here, so we never pushed the group ahead too much and we never saw the group behind us. Solid 4.5-hour pace. The course is still coming out of the overseed, but it's looking nice and should be playing even nicer very soon. As it is now, everything's a bit shaggy as you might expect. Most of the tee boxes had gorgeous, lush grass coverage, but left a little longer. Most of the fairways were very lush and also left shaggier, so no roll-out on drives at all. A few fairways and spots haven't quite seen the grass come in fully yet. The rough was gorgeous yet brutal throughout most of the course. Very thick. As it is now, everything around the greens and leading up to the greens is very long, thick rough. There aren't any tightly mown run-up or run-off areas yet, so if you miss a green you will be hitting out of some deep, nasty stuff. That made a very challenging course even tougher! The greens were in good overall shape. Perhaps a tad too firm in my opinion, but rolling pretty smooth and faster speeds than we expected coming out of the overseed. If you like challenging layouts, you'll enjoy SunRidge Canyon. They really pump up the "Wicked Six" holes 13-18 in their marketing efforts, but I think that shortchanges holes 1-12. The whole course is quite unforgiving and I didn't find those finishing holes to be that significantly more difficult than anywhere else on the course. Admittedly, I played terribly and that hurt my ability to fully enjoy the course. It's one where I'd like to have a rematch and also get to play it with its normal cuts of fairway and rough rather than how deep and shaggy things are now. Otherwise, it's a beautiful course up in the hills and in a few more weeks it will probably be immaculate! The GPS on our cart wasn't working properly (new system). The course was cart path only, which we obeyed, but then the cart kept saying we weren't on the path and automatically reducing us to a snail's pace while it malfunctioned.
