Played this course at 10:44 am on June 10, 2018 for $22 tee fee. The course staff was very accommodating even though we had a disastrous time getting to the course due to our own fault and being late, yes late, to the tee time. The course was open and scattered players throughout, we allowed one single player to pass through on the front.

The course conditions were sparse and kind of inconsistent. In my last review I mentioned to come back and play in a year, well ironically enough without thinking of it that's what I did. The renovations including the revamping of the waste area of hole 9 and new green complex on hole 6 were complete, providing a nicer complete ambiance, nothing that changed play in my mind. The fairways were really thin, teetering with some lies being straight off burnt under watered grass. The greens were amazing, they were soft and receptive of all shot types and I got up to a 4 iron to make a pitchmark. The tee boxes were divoted pretty bad on par 3's, some par 4's where people have to lay up. The rough was minimal, basically if you didn't hit the fairway you were PROMISED a terrible lie to spin a wedge instead of PROBABLE from the fairway.

In general, this course is great during the morning when watered and dries out quickly in the afternoon. The prices show that they are still generally competing with nearby courses but have completely fallen out as the Q-School hosting course they once were. The challenge still makes this course a course that's fun to play and makes you humble, but its mainly characterized by the following: extremely dry fairways making drives go 280+ from run out, bunkers that are layered on top of each other near the penny sized greens and lakes that simply aren't being maintained.

I like this course and recommend a visit, just to see how you may like it because of it's playability and resemblance of early 2000's charm.

Played with a friend who works at the course so I received the "employee discount" and played around 2:15pm on the 10th of August. The cart girl was present on the front nine but gone by the second. The bag boy was waiting for us at the finish of our round and was very helpful before the round as well.

The tee boxes grasped the tee placement well, the fairways were a little soggy in places from watering but fair to play off of. The rough was inconsistent, over 5" in some places to make you lose a 10 yard off target shot to bare and missing the fairway wasn't even a harm to your score. The greens were among the best shape I've seen them in. The ball rolled true, spun on well struck wedge shots and were the perfect speed for non-pros. The bunkers looked nice, luckily I wasn't in a single one to be the judge of that aspect.

The course is currently under some renovation: the 5th hole long par 5 is on a temporary green making way for a brand new larger green (they're getting rid of the palm trees and house sized bunkers surrounding the green complex). The water on the 9th is gone however the soil has been replaced with tons of rocks, perhaps making that area a new native area instead. And some other places on the course were just being re surfaced. New scorecards also were noted by my playing partner and I. This course is making the effort, you might want to wait a year before you check them out.

Okay, I've played this course a lot. I played it twice in the last two days. So I obviously like it for the price that at least I get. My review will cover the times I play from now to probably August which will be at least 20 times. I played in the morning both times and the fairways got dried up towards the end of the round and were down right soggy in the beginning. Service was fine but you can see the greens keepers. They definitely are out there all day working. Bravo.

The greens were firm, fast, and smooth. However, thru experience I will advise people they'll get crispy, parking lot fast, and bumpy by July. The fairways were fine, however the rough was much like the fairway. Not too much penalty in missing fairways. The bunkers were confused in what they were supposed to be. Some were firm, some were very fluffy, while some were muddy. I don't know what to think.

Now here's my favorite part of this course; it is hard. I just shot 75 at Dobson and two days later I'm shooting 87 at Super. No, it's not the conditions no matter how much you tell yourself that. It's the subtle green complexities, tight target golf fairways, and penalizing lines that the water make you take. Look, this course gets me pissed but it also makes me a much better golfer. Want to play some difficult holes in Arizona, look here. A lot better than Arizona Golf Resort.

I played Superstition on Saturday, August 1st and teed off around 0850. The course was busy and pace of play was slow. The ranger said a large group had gone off earlier and was holding play up. The pace wasn't horrible but it could have been much faster.
The course was fun to play and a bit of a challenge. The areas around the green had a number of grass bunkers and they seemed to gobble up any approach shot not spot on. The course also featured a number of dogleg holes but most of them were not overly long.
Conditions of the course were typical for August in the Phoenix area. Some dry areas and some soggy wet areas. The greens were in fairly good shape and were consistent through the day. They accepted shots. Many of the tee boxes were not level where they were set up.
Overall, the course was fun and challenging. I'm not sure I'll be back but am glad to have played this course once.

Had a tee time at superstition Springs on June 8 around 10 o'clock. The customer service was fair greeted me at the door, and were available for any types of situations on the course. We saw the cart girl around two times on the front nine and the back nine. Being a Sunday it was quite busy but we would have been able to play within four hours if not for the foursome ahead of us that didn't seem to know how to play golf.

The course itself leads it to be very misleading, as in it looks more difficult than it really is for the average golfer. The GPS system allows you to be able to understand the lengths to clear the hazards and the forced carries. The bunkers were in great shape, the fairways had a few blemishes, but the greens were the worst part of the day. Most greens had tons of pitch marks, one had an actual divot that we fixed, and one was being aerated. Not to mention, some of the bunkers seemed to be played out of without being raked (yes, it isn't the course management's fault, but I'm giving you guys a heads up for the types of players who play here).

Now here is where I want/need Superstition to improve. This place used to be a Q School course, back in the nineties. Which the difficulty of the course is obviously Q School worthy if all tees were placed in the farthest distance. But, the difficulty isn't the issue. It's the looks; muddy ponds, low water levels, bare spots everywhere while traveling along the holes, fountains not at full power, and even the trees are falling apart at parts of the course. Small things go a long way! Taking a leaf blower to actually blow leaves of the tee boxes and greens!?! I love this course, I do, which is why I have emotion towards it. They can improve so much, yet seem to only drain money into the "easier" things to fix.

Overall, I will return and play again because of the difficulty that this course gives to the low and high handicappers. But man this course can be killer.

Played at a good pace even though there were several groups in front. The course is in decent condition heading into the hot summer months there are some bare spots happening and a little browning on some of the greens, but overall good shape.
First time playing and was a pleasant experience overall, it looks easier than it is. Make sure you know where the distances are to hazards and bunkers before you tee off.....local course knowledge is very key here.

Pretty good layout, tour distance par 3s out at this course. I really liked the mix and style of the par 4s, especially on the back 9.

Played on June 2, 2014 for a price of $30 at 1:20 pm. Just to start off, not worth the rate whatsoever. The course has great potential, so much more room for beautification in between holes...but never seems to be improving. The layout itself is great and rather challenging due to the length from the tips. The fairways are often complex and the flagstick seemed to be hidden on all greens.

The front nine is where you must attack the course, the fairways are rather wide (compared to the back nine) and the length is short on the Par 4's. The biggest difficulty about this course is that the Par 3's are very long, 3 of the 4 are over 200 yards from the tips. On these Par 3's, the greens are very short in depth. The back nine is where trouble starts, because water plays on 6 of the 9, and most of the water is in the area of an amateurs' slice. Bunkers are strategically placed in areas away from water so you basically have to aim for the dead center of the green!

In general, the course has potential to be one of the best in the valley, hands down. BUT, the upkeep, along with the price, and the workers makes the experience below average. However, because of the family friends I have that play frequently there, I will continue to hope for the best. Still a good place to have fun in the summer, not worth the pain in the wallet during the winter/spring.

Would not play here again. This is what happens to fine golf courses when corporations (paper company) buy them. Was not worth $38.00 in DECEMBER
