Played as a single on May 13th at 11:22 am for $45 off GolfNow, comparably the website has a tee time reservation system through EZLinks(?), same price. This course is inside of a community (more accurately described as a snowbird resort RV Park) but doesn't play that way as many course in Arizona fall into. Approaching the pro shop and carts there's usually ample staff, I didn't see anyone immediately and helped myself to a cart. Walked inside, notably they are still strict on masks inside the pro shop (they did close for 14 days last year in the midst of the height of COVID due to an employee catching it) and I checked in quickly, bought small range balls of $5 and was told to tee off when I'm finished warming up.

Onto the course, the driving range is between the 18th hole and the 8th hole a bit away from the 1st tee. It was quite ample, lot of open stations and trimmed grass to warm up with a handful of target greens with different distances. As I made my way to the 1st tee I noticed the fairway looked a bit more brown than usual. Seemed to be the first fairway only though as the rest of the course was fairly maintained. The rough was pretty minimal, nothing to hide your ball but would result in possible flyer into the green. The bunkers were machined raked, no available rakes to players but I didn't experience any difficult lies there. The fringe and areas around the green were lush but bare spots were visible on some holes. The greens were firm but slow(?) which is a weird combination. The roll was true though and was a pleasure to knock some birdie putts in.

This course is definitely fun to play and super walkable. You can count 5 holes that share the edge of the course with houses, the rest of the holes are adjacent to another hole (or two holes) which is unique to courses here in the valley. This course keeps its maintenance throughout the summer more than nearby 'cheaper' courses which makes it a good value most of the time. Perhaps golf is changing because this time of the year you can usually find it for sub-$30 however we're still in surge it seems. I'd say it's worth the price for now but if the rest of the course turns into the brown seen on hole 1...I'd venture to say it's not worth $45+ in 100+ degree weather. Personally.

Played this course on Sunday, June 2nd for $16 at 10:15 am with a booked threesome. This course does have a practice range, putting greens without a chipping green and some water/drinks prior to heading to the first tee. We checked in with ease as the cart guys offered us our carts as we pleased; when we approached the first tee we were notified a single had just booked last second with us and we were off.

The course was set up (from tips it plays 6,224, ladies at 4,774) fast and firm from tee to green. The tee boxes were trimmed well and allowed any peg in the ground and didn't have much visible wear (yet, it's early in the summer season). The fairways were green and bounced well with a limited amount of approach-shot divots. The rough and surrounding areas weren't anything to hide your golf ball from but they did impact the spin into the green, which was very important taking into account the greens. NOW, for the greens. First off, this is a retirement "resort" for snowbirds and the older crowd with cheap prices, however these greens were amazing. Fast (at least an 11 on the stimp) and firm, no wedge I hit made an indentation on approach no matter how high I hit them. Every putt was true and tough, the slope on some of the pin placements maaaayyy have been illegal but playing on these greens made for a fun day.

I've written a review each of the past two years for this course, unfortunately no other greenskeeper member has even with it being a value play. The price, the time it takes to play 18 on a Sunday with a foursome playing from 3 different tees (under 4 hours) and the ease of which an enjoyable round appears is outstanding. I've played my handful of Nationally recognized courses in Arizona and other states (notably South Carolina, the mecca of great courses) however I find myself continually smiling as I leave from this course due to its staff, quality of shape and price. Play this course, shoot low and enjoy a day in east-ish Mesa.

Played Viewpoint (18 Holes Reg) on Sunday August 19th as a threesome for around $16 plus tax. The check in was easy and the cart barn staff offered cold towels in a cooler near the cart station and tons of ice in nearby cooler as well. The pro shop is located next to the bar/grill area (come in for food as this place has some killer meals that I've had outside of golfing alone) and the staff was present promptly. We were offered to head right out whenever and we took the offer.

The course itself is rather straightforward and the conditions were typical mid summer. The tee boxes may have been a bit furry for most liking but using anything other than wedges its fine. The fairways were a biiiit inconsistent for my liking, you needed to strategically place your ball either far from the green off the tee or extremely close to it to get a playable lie; it was kind of hit or miss. The greens themselves were receptive and playable, however I had extreme difficulty finding where my pitch mark was made as if there were no dent made from a full wedge, I was confused all day even though my 5 irons checked up easily. The bunkers were playable near the greens and the fairway bunkers had nice firm sand.

The strategy is well thought out and really different from what a lot of Arizona Valley courses seem to aim for; Viewpoint aims to allow for a score-able day to any golfer regardless of skill. Play from your usual tee boxes and you'll have fun with this mini-parkland style course. The rough was up very high for summer expectations (we lost a few balls from barely fairway wide drives) and the greens are relatively large. We all had fun and like the variety of holes. As my dad said after the round, "this course places all the par 3's at just the right moment during the day and par 5's are perfectly aligned with the course topography". Bingo, come here for a fun day of scoring and leave with perhaps your lowest score of the season.

Played the 19th of July with a tee time at 1:45 pm. For only $14 through GolfNow, I'll start off by saying this course is easily worth the $14. The service for me was good, I showed up around 1:15 wanting to hit some range balls and test the putting green but when the pro shop said I could grab my cart and head out right away you bet I took them up. Now for those who want to be pampered and have everything done for you, I can't promise you it'll be done but I'm sure they are present during the earlier hours of the day. Customer service is nice however I grade by judging how pure the golf is.

The course itself is different from your big money courses in the east valley: Longbow, Gold Canyon, Red Mountain Ranch, etc. The holes and tee boxes play off each other, it's most definitely a walkable course, and the fairways are lined with pine trees for a change-up. The greens played a bit slow due to it seeming like it has been a day or two since shaving. The fairways were clean and crisp, a few bare spots near the edges, but any divots were filled with seed. The rough was punishing and the fairway bunkers were well kept. Most of the bunkers were flat and easy to get out while being darker sand and playable.

I enjoyed this course quite a bit due to it not being unfairly long from the tips (maxes out at around +6,000) and very playable. The greens were its defense as most of them were severely back to front sloped and even 3 footers needed to be read. If you can drive it past 300 you'll have as much fun as I did. Shot one of my lowest rounds of the summer and I even missed an eagle putt on 18. The front is much harder than the back but even then it's rather straight forward with a dogleg here and there. My favorite part is I played 18 holes for $14 under 3 and 1/2 hours. Other than 4 people across the course I had it to myself. Which means I could've played like Bill Gates and tried a little best ball...but I didn't.

I'll return not necessarily for the layout or the thrills however if you enjoy empty, pure, cheap, fun golf...this place is for you. If you need to be handed mango towels every 3 holes, given free range balls, and a cart girl to hit on every few holes it isn't.

FYI, there are only two water fountains on the course however you pass them twice each as well as on cart cooler.

Played Viewpoint today @ 11:15. Viewpoint is one fo those courses that is just inundated with out-of-town Snowbirds in the winter, but once the heat kicks in, the course can be near empty, as it was today.

Conditions for late April were a bit disappointing. Much more dry throughout the course than usual, particularly in the rough. There were a few holes here where the rough was so deep you could lose your ball even a yard off the fairway, but that is no longer the case. Fairways themselves had some dry areas, though the closer to the greens you got, the greener the fairways became. Tee boxes were in good shape, though some of the Par 3s showed wear and need to be moved. Greens were receptive and moderately paced, nothing crazy here.

If you play during the week, don't expect cart service during the summer (6 month) period). Bring your own drinks or your own ice chest, because the only water station is located at the bathroom by the 8th hole going out (which is also used for the 12th hole coming back).

In the summer, Viewpoint is a nice, inexpensive, no-frills course that won't beat you up (5,660 yards from the regular tees, 6,324 from the Championship tees). I enjoy the short par 4s, of which there are many, as it gives me a chance to really work my 7I-PW game, and, if there's no one behind me, practicing a couple shots in to the hole.

Played 4/6 as a single, paired with another single and a twosome. Viewpoint is like an executive-type course on steroids, and is usually among the best maintained inexpensive courses in the east Valley. The fairways are usually as lush as one can find in Phoenix outside the resort courses, but, while still mostly green, were showing some thinning and brown patches throughout the course. Greens were in good shape and very fast, tee boxes also in good condition. Bunkers were disappointing: fairway bunkers were so firm that multiple times balls simply popped out of them onto the fairway (good for us, but shouldn't happen) and the greenside bunkers had enough sand to get under the ball, but were still concerning.

Pace of play was slow--4.5 hours for 6,000 yard course, due to the final week or so of snowbirds still in town taking advantage of the terrific weather and the course packing 'em all in. Facilities: excellent grassy driving range, small putting green, Fat Willy's restaurant inside the clubhouse, excellent fast electric carts with ice coolers.

Great course for a novice or double digit handicapper. Shot my lowest score ever here today, but am concerned that if the course is starting to get this thin (relative to previous years) in early April, what will July & August bring?
