Played this course on 5/27. This was my first time playing on this course, getting a nice little deal through the internet for green fees.

The course itself was decent. Very tight fairways with thick brush on either side. Lost a couple balls in that stuff. Overall, a pretty course with technical skills needed. The greens, however, were in awful condition. Dead patches of grass, along with patches of weeds, on the greens ruined an otherwise pleasant outing.

I may have just been there at a bad time of year, so I'm willing to give Canoa Hills another chance.

WOW!!! This course is in awesome shape. I played on Oct 16th and it was cart path only. The overseeding is complete and is very green. Customer service is great. These bent grass greens are an absolute joy to play on. They medium to fast and very smooth. If you see a break take about a holes width away and you'll make lots of putts. Everything breaks to the river so be aware of where it is. Get out and play this course! I'm playing this Sunday and can't wait.

Course was in decent shap. The fairways were a little dry and all the surrounding lakes were empty. However i must say the bent/poe greens accepted the ball really well and the putting surface was suprisingly smooth. A decent course for the price.

I think there's a song with the refrain "Give me some water . . some cool, clear water" . . that's what this golf course is saying when playing it in mid-June. The fairways had many burned up areas just begging for water. They were rock hard and like hitting off hardpan. The teeboxes were terrible. Not even close to level, and all had severe divot marks. It took a while to find someplace even close to level to stick the peg in the ground. The layout is very nice, and with lots of water and maintenance this could be a good track. There are several "lakes" on the course that have been drained and are just waste areas now. Something needs to be done with them to improve the aesthetic appeal of this course. We played on a hot (105 degree) day and the water coolers on the back 9 were empty and no cart lady in sight. Had to fill our water bottles out of the bathroom faucets on #15 . . I like this layout, it could (and should) be a fun course. Unless they do some serious maintenance I wouldn't recommend it due to the fact there are many other much better maintained courses in the immediate vicinity.

Played this course for the first time this weekend (12/15). Canoa Hills is part of the "Wildcat Trail" series of golf courses along with 49er CC, Arizona National (Raven), and it's sister course San Ignacio. Our threesome was fortunate to have a 4th join us who worked part-time in the golf shop so he was able to provide us with a lot of insights for shot placement. I liked the course. This was a case of deceiving appearances. Many of the tee shots looked like you were hitting to a very small landing area, or narrow fairway . . but actually there was quite a bit a room for tee shots. The greens were as fast as any I've putted around the Tucson area in quite some time. The only ones I could compare them to would be El Conquistador, but the EC greens were so chewed up when I played there that they were unfair. These were in very nice shape. The only complaint I would have about Canoa Hills . . actually 2 complaints . . would be the dry "lakes". They've pumped water from several of the lakes and they are just downright ugly, scarring some otherwise beautiful golf holes. The other would be pace of play early. We were backed up every shot for about the first 4 or 5 holes. After that it opened up and we moved along at a pretty good pace. Maybe spacing out the tee times another 2-3 minutes could alleviate this problem. There were some of the prettiest views in the area from the tee boxes . . looking at the Santa Rita mountains with snowcapped peaks from the tee box at #2 was awesome! Put some water back in the lakes and this would be a beautiful course. I'll play it again!
