Played the course with a buddy on 11/8/2008. The course wasn't great to look at . . the fairways were not that lush green we're accustomed to, but they ended up being very playable. I'm not an agronomist, but appear to be bermuda fairways without the rye grass overseed. They were cut short, so you got a lot of roll. The greens were great! Probably among the best in Southern Arizona. They're bentgrass and roll very quickly and true. Glad we spent some time on the practice putting green before playing to get a feel for them. The course isn't overly long, and is a lot of fun to play. There are some blind and semi-blind tee shots, so pay attention to the GPS provided on the carts. Local knowledge would be very helpful on several of the holes. I had played the course once before . . about a year and a half ago, so I remembered some of the trouble areas and that helped me this round. The only drawback to the course was the lack of a marshall. The "slowest threesome in the world" was directly ahead of us . . which was fine for about the first 9 holes, until every other group on the course, including a 4 some caught up with us . . then it was stacked up the rest of the way in. We ended up allowing a 3-some to join us so as a 5-some we kept up with the 3-some in front of us, and waited on every shot. Never saw a marshall, asked the cart girl about it and she said they didn't have one. The course has lots of elevation changes, and "hidden" greens past some slight doglegs. Several of the par 4's are reachable with a good drive and knowledge of where they're "hidden" past the fairway turn. My friend called it a "Tin Cup" course. Sort of rough looking, but a lot of fun to play. Well worth the 30 minute drive down the Interstate south of Tucson. I'll play it again!
