Pine Mountain Lake was my last round today after a couple of short courses in between (Twain Harte and Phoenix Lake). There is no easy way to get to/from Groveland because it's high up in the hills to... Continue »

Since Johnny was good enough to add this course at my request, I think I should write a review. Played this semi-private country club many times over past 15 years. Updated irrigation/water manageme... Continue »

Noticed a mistake. This hole is a dog leg to the right.

Home hole heading uphill and dogleg right to just below the Grill and Bar. Likely to have some fans, of various proof, leaning over the patio cheering or jeering so make this hole a good one. 366-381 on the card, but you can cut the dogleg with a high three wood or driver over the massive oak in the middle/right of the fairway. This tree, like some other big boys out there, just begs to be hit by lightning someday. Until then you have to make a decision. A straight shot will leave a mid-to-long iron or if you can move it right over the tree with a long club you will have a hundred or less. Your call. When you see the tree your gut will tell you. The approach is very difficult as your ball will want to slide right and off the steep side of the green. Play to the left side of the green for safety. Even then it's a difficult two putt. Anything on the front 1/3 of the green will spin or just roll back toward the fringe and apron area leaving an uphill putt with movement to the right. It will sometimes do this when you are no longer looking. It might be squirrels, not sure. Good luck. Stomp upstairs and have a cocktail at the best 19th hole around. Hopefully you walked this hilly, beautiful course and deserve a reward. Play well.
