We had a great time here! Felt like we were royalty and playing in a private club. We teed off over about 20 wild turkeys and on the back nine we were visited by a deer and her baby doe! Beautiful views of the ocean!

My spouse and I played Avila on July 1st...we played by ourselves and the course was pretty quiet..which was nice. It is a fun course to play because of unconventional layouts and greens...we play the other kind every week! Our round was just over 4 hours.Everything was in good condition and we will definately play there again.

This is a very challenging course, the front nine has some nice twists and turns and b$tch 'en water hazzards! My personal favorite's were
the 8th hole: A 191 par 3 over a pond onto the green.
The 10th hole the tee box is 15-20 feet from the ocean which is about 125 yards to the fairway.
The 11th hole you'll see a bridge. Hint: Stay to the left of that bridge.
I really enjoyed the course/challenge! The staff was helpful and a pleasure to talk too. Last but not least, my favorite saying for the day: It's dry!

I hadn't played here in 20 years. It was a beautiful day and considering I tee'd off at about noon on a Sunday, to play in under 4 hours was a pleasant surprise. The course: greens were really really nice! The rest of the course, not so nice. A rather strange layout, but enjoyable. The 11th hole is really weird, and the par 3's (from the tips) are very difficult!

played fri 7/13. 12pm. played in 5hrs. course in pretty good shape. greens seemed inconsistent (faster on front than back). not a big fan of this course. very quirky, some poorly designed holes imo. tons of blind shots. tons of shots where we drove to the landing area because we couldn't see what the heck was going on. #10 is lame, with those trees guarding the fairway... total luck factor if you hit the trees or not, and where it kicks. #11 is lame, with the mountain passageway in the fairway approach. if i never play here again, won't be sad.

Played this course over the Memorial Day weekend with a friend that lives in the area. Course was in good shape, also my father played and hasn't played that course in 30 years. He mentioned what good shape it was in as well. The funny thing is the course is 1/4 mile from the beach and there is no sand in the sand traps, very disappointed with that. Friend had a coupon book for the course which got the green fees down from $87 / person to $36.50 / person, very affordable at those rates, and can't wait to get back and play it again.

Played on Tuesday 11/07. We tee off at about 9:45 am and we were able to finish in about 4 hours. Course is in good shape. It was a little windy the day we played, which can make playing difficult. In addition with the course being windy, there were a lot of leaves on many of the greens, which makes it difficult to putt. Water comes into play on 4 holes. The 10th hole (which is pictured in many brochures) is an interesting one. The tees are on one side of the river and thus you must carry the river to reach the fairway on the other side. The front nine is very hilly. The back nine is very flat. It makes for an interesting round.

Played Avila Beach on Sunday afternoon in June 2006. It was a fun and interesting golf course to play as each hole is unique. Overall condition of the course was less than expected. Not even close to Pebble courses as someone else had posted.

Just prior to playing Avila, I had played Spanish Bay, Spyglass & Pebble. The greens at Avila were superior to those three. Even tho somewhat short from the whites (6053), the rating is 69.6 & the slope 130, so don't let the length fool you. Teed off at 8:15 by myself (!) on a Friday & finished in a leasurely 3 1/4 hrs. This course is a hidden gem.

The course was in pretty good shape, with the greens being in excellent shape. The ball rolled true. I played one of the earlier rounds in the morning, and the course was too wet in places, making one wonder why they were still watering so much.
