Say it ain't so, last month of Summer, lets get our golf in before Fall maintenance.

August is typically fantastic desert golf conditions if you can handle the heat ... I'll be making a trip out to Vegas second week of August for GK Guru Cascata but likely also to Palm Springs sometime the week of 8/21. I'll be down in San Diego thinking 8/16 - 8/18. Looking to line up a lot of GK Guru golf and a GK Cup 10 Final ... now if I can only start playing better!

Looking forward to hearing about your rounds!

Only two rounds of golf planned for august sadly with too much going on. Playing Cascata and then one round in Idaho when I visit my friends for the solar eclipse otherwise work is dictating my August

With some luck the wife and I will finally make it north to Half Moon Bay and TPC Harding park. Been trying to get up there since November. And I think this month's rota is Spanish Bay but we may substitute in The Glass as my buddy and I both prefer that course. I have a family event in the Sacramento area so I'll try out a course or two while there. Suggestions??

Other than that it will be the regular "home" courses. We thought about dong a Solar eclipse round but like yeah, that work thing gets in the way.... but not too much since I'm playing with my boss tomorrow morning.

Played Saturday at Alhambra and in dire need of a good round to get me back on track. Luckily, with the exception of one terrible hole, it did the trick. On the front nine, despite not necessarily hitting a bunch of great shots, recovered and putted well enough to reach the 9th hole tee box at 2 over. Then topped it, layed up, thinned into the lake, drop, off the green, onto the green, two-putt for an 8 and a 6 over 42 front. Pulled myself together though with a good par on 10 and then finished up on 18 with a much needed birdie to finish 3 over on the back to shoot 80 for the day. Bummed out not to break 80 for just the second time but did nail a bunch of really nice, long putts and finished with just 29 putts for the day. Let's hope this carries over into the next round.

Played Mt Woodson on GK guru outing, the course was in great shape, fun to play as always and playing with Broadway (zgolfinman) Bob, Tim (rudyclub) and Matt (mpisarski01) was a complete pleasure, thanks guys! Played well in spurts, with a few errant shots, but nothing horrible (played the whole round with the same ball until losing it in the water left on 18 . . . there were a few provisionals hit but never needed to use one!) Shot 79, Mt Woodson is a par 70. Two birdies, one double, one triple (18), the rest all pars and bogies. If you are considering playing Mt Woodson do it, it's in really good shape and a fun tract!

84 at Mt Woodson. 1 triple 2 doubles 2 birdies (in a row). I think I only had one 3 putt. Crushing drives but not a ton of accuracy

Edwards Air Force Base championship was on over the weekend. Not to be confused with their Club Championship which is yet to be played next month.

As an 8 handicap, I shot 79 & 77 for two days. It was one of the best two days I have put together, I think better than last year when I shot 78/76 as an 8 hcp as well. Score wise, last year was better, but play wise, in the wind and all other things considered, I think I hit the ball better and had better game plan.

Anyway, I lost by 3 strokes as a defending champ in the A flight. Better luck next time?

Back to River Ridge this weekend. Shot a 76 on the Lakes course. Pretty good ball striking day...with the exception of 2 straight-up shanks! I shanked a 6 iron 50 yards right on #2, and then a short pitch on 11 that left me with like an 80 ft putt for par. Doh! I shut those out and picked it up with back-to-back birdies on 12 and 13, with the birdie on #13 being a hole out from 40 yards. 40-36 made for a pretty good day, and I left at least 3 or 4 shots out there. I really need to learn how to play #15. That little par 3 into the wind eats my lunch every time! Maybe someday I'll get my even par round....
