With a GK Plays outing tomorrow, kicking September off the right way!

Got lots a work to do on the computer researching/posting aeration alerts but for sure going to make more time for golf than I did last month!

Looking forward to reading about your rounds!

100, adjusted 95 at La Costa Champions, worst score since the 110 of a few years ago. Started off on 5 (shotgun start), three pars then the wheels disintegrated. Double, Triple, bogey, then three balls in the water yielding a score of 10 on the short par 4 11th. Then a stretch of 4 bogies, then triple, double on 16 and 17, par on 18. Then double, cuarto, bogey, double . . . but hey, 28 putts, now that ain't too shabby!

Front nine La Costa: 8 GIR; 7 pars, two bogeys.
Back nine La Costa: 4 GIR; 1 birdie, 4 pars, 3 doubles, 1 triple.
=82.

Shotgun start on No. 4, so the front/back disparity is just a fluke.

My best shot of the day might've been on 7, when my tee shot stopped about an inch from a giant tree trunk in the right side turf-reduction area. I had about 160 to the green, choked down on a five iron, concentrated mightily to avoid breaking my wrist by hitting the tree trunk, and put it on the green about 25 feet below the pin.

Time off this last week so played Tuesday and Friday at Balboa Park, first off twilight. It was mostly a tale of two cities, it was the best of times it was the worst of times . . . 96, adjusted to 93 on Tuesday, ugly just flat out ugly. Played the first two holes like a good single digit player with a birdie, par start that came about by well struck shots just about on the money. Then a poor drive on 3 that was just inches from being playable and fine turned into a triple . . . out came the double digit player I seem to be lately, sad, sad and disappointing.
Friday I started out in much the same fashion, well struck shots that resulted in a par, par, birdie start. Then a short missed putt on 4, then a sloppy triple on 5 that involved a TC Chen (double hit) and I thought on no not this time! I got a par on 6 the long uphill par 3 and only had one double after finding the trees right on 8 after that, the rest all pars and single bogies to end up with a decent 84.

* side note: I drove the ball into the left hazard on the long par 5 16th, but still got my fourth on the green with a good look at par and got a 180 lip out.

Good stuff Wendy!

I managed to pull out an 81 at Torrey North from the green tees. 30 putts and with the greens a bit scruffy I missed plenty of putts . . . it was a bit of hit and hope it takes the right bounces. Couldn't get off the tee well until I hit a few good ones on the last three holes.

After a solid Labor Day round at Wilson I went into my desert weekend feeling very confident in my game. Well, it started rather well and finally got my driver working again and shot a decent 44 (after taking a quad) on the front from the blues tees of Indian Wells (Celebrity), a course that I had never played before. Back was a little tougher to keep it going but finished my round by missing a two-footer for birdie on 18 for a final 92. Best part of the day was only 29 putts as I had that going pretty well all day.

The next day at Desert Willow for the morning 18 it all went south from the get-go, taking a quad on the first hole and that set the tone for a rough outing. It was more or less damage control for the rest of the day and I kept missing all the putts that had been going in the day before so that was frustrating. My bunker play was also less than stellar so that contributed to some poor holes and costing me a lot of par chances. As the day got hotter it got harder and harder to find fairways and this course does not forgive. I was pretty fortunate to come in just under 100 with a 99 after taking a penalty on 18.

The second half of the day under the now scorching sun was, outside of the great company from the Gurus, pretty forgettable after the 8th hole. I was playing bogey golf essentially up until that point which was just fine for a course that I also had never played before, but on the ninth hole (par 5), after two great setup shots, I was 75 yards from the green with one very steep bunker to avoid. I did not. It was nigh impossible to get out and I took a 10 on the hole - so long decent round. Nothing clicked after that, driver went super cold, putts continued to not fall and I walked out of there with a pathetic 101 after a double on 18 that was also disappointing after the first two shots.

Consistency continues to elude me even after making some grip and swing changes. Back to the drawing board.
