Hope everyone is having a fun Labor Day weekend.

September should be fun a month for golf. Typically good conditions as we dodge aerated greens.

Looking forward to your posts!

First Round of September was a dud. Played meadowlark in HB and shot a 92. 49 front-43 back. I didnt have a single par until the back nine where I strung off 4 in a row to start the back. Sadly I had trouble on 17 and 18 with a double and triple.

Not how I expected to play after doing well the previous week in AZ.

Pretty excited to report that I began September with my lowest ever GHIN handicap at 12.7 after a very solid last two weeks or so where I had a number of low 80s rounds to get there. I was nervous playing Harding on the final day of the month though as I did not want to see it shoot out of the 12s with a poor round! But nothing ventured, nothing gained, so I agreed to the Friday late afternoon tee time and took my chances. And it soon seemed apparent that I made a poor choice after going 2-over the first three holes and then hitting a lousy stretch with four doubles in a row and closing out the front nine with a lame 11-over 48. And it didn't look like it was going to get any better after a 3-over first two holes on the back nine, but then I somehow found a groove and parred every hole for the rest of the round. Not sure I've ever done seven pars in a row, but going from 12-18 at even par felt pretty amazing. Finished the back nine then with a 3-over 38 to shoot a nicely recovered 86 and not destroy my handicap in the process. I'll save that for later this month!

. . . where do I go when I need to be humbled? Torrey South. Hit the ball well overall, made some good putts, but every little mistake here is magnified to the nth degree. 93, 36 putts! Ouch, now that really hurts and may leave a mark. I did birdie #11 197 into the wind with a back shelf pin placement . . . 3 wood to 6' left of the hole.

I got 2 birdies in 5 rounds....skunked my last 3 rounds. Even drove a par 4 yesterday...three putted. Benched the Hot Dog putter, brought in the Ping putter, benched the Ping putter, put the Hot Dog back in the lineup, benched the Hot Dog again and now starting the Musty. Hoping for one of those open the birdie floodgates rounds to make up for this slump.

Johnny, practice putting with your eyes closed. Address the ball, line it up, then just before you pull the club back close your eyes . . . it ain't the bow.

Finally managed to get off the mountain to play a course other than Big Bear. Played Morongo Legends Sunday afternoon. Course had been closed for maintenance but there was no sign anything had been done. Greens did not appear to have been punched, traps were concrete hard. Fairways were nice but some damaged areas here and there. Love the course but was shocked at how many new houses were on the course. It appears there are more areas being prepared for houses as well. Also had not seen the new clubhouse and restaurant arrangement. Bigger bar, smaller restaurant space and very small pro shop. Clear to see where much of the money comes from. Overall a fun day with some great shots and some... well you know haw that goes. Shot 45-45. Not happy with that score but had a great time and look forward to our next trip down there.

Played twice in September so far and let me tell you, it hasn't been one of my finer moments. I'm an 18.0 handicap and I've shot the following:

105- Indian Hills 9/2/18
96- El Prado (Butterfield) 9/8/18

Now in August I played 3 times shooting:

98- Cimarron Boulder course 8/26/18
90- Cimarron Boulder course 8/18/18
91- Eagle Glen 8/11/18

Shot an 87 at Brookside where I've only played 4-5 times but never broke 90.

Backed that up today with an 83 at Eagle Glen (from the blues even). The stats showed how well I was hitting it. %70 DIF and only 1 of my hits went into the hazard and only after landing on grass and bouncing and rolling until it managed to find the cart path and exit the course.

45% GIR which is basically double what I normally do.

35 putts is where I missed breaking 80 but with that many GIR - I have to expect putts to go up. No 3 putts which was the saving grace.
