I like the idea of having 2017 Co-Champions as an added recognition for the GK Cup.

Or should they have teed it up and only ONE player would be recognized at the 2017 GK Cup Champion?

Next year we will have TWO GK Cup single elimination tournaments. Hopefully build it up to 64 player fields each.

I still contend the year doesn't matter. Separate it from the calendar. One guy won GK Cup 9, the other guy won GK Cup 10. Oh yeah, they both happened to be in the same year.

Personally I'd be a little bummed if I was a Co-Champion for doing the same thing all the previous Champions did.

Its still separated as far as recognition. I thought it would be cool to add an additional recognition as season champions since moving forward we are going to do two GK Cup tournaments per year. My question is, should there one or two season champions? Meaning should they have had to tee it up for the added recognition instead of sharing it.

On the GK Cup page its still got them separated but now I got two big images at the top.

Isn't this a typically kind of golf point to niggle over? But I admit, since a lot about golf is about accuracy in many senses, it strikes a discordant note with me as well.

The tournaments weren't played simultaneously, nor did the champions play in a single tournament in which for whatever reason (36 consecutive tied holes in overtime?) it was declared a tie and thus result in co-champions.

The tournaments were played sequentially and both players were involved with each tournament, with different results. As to the year 2017, I also believe that is an arbitrary marker of time. If you want to say one player won the Spring 2017 GK Cup and the other won the Fall 2017 GK Cup, then fine. However, there is only one current Champion, and that is the latest one.

This doesn't diminish the accomplishment of any past champions, (that's history and can't be taken away from them.) It's just a statement of fact about who is the latest to do it in an ongoing, sequential series of competitions.

My two cents.

Actually did MORE than some of the previous GK Cup Champions did. Not all Champions have had to win 5 straight matches to win their GK Cup because fewer players competed in some of the earlier Cups. In both GK Cup 9/10, we had a full 32 player draw with no byes.

Precisely my thoughts as well...

The goal is long and straight! But on the many times I cannot seem to hit them straight, I at least want to hit them long!
