The topic has come up and a few of us have kicked the idea around for a two person team best ball match play. JohnnyGK is all for it and I think it would be a fun little twist to the GK Cups. Yes, the obvious drawback is trying to get matches completed with 4 people but there would theoretically be less matches so some guru rounds might help speed up the process of completing the matches by completing 2-4 matches at once.

Love the concept, could be a nice alternative.

Would need to determine how handicaps would be applied to make the matches competitive and fair?

Main challenge I forsee is getting together more than a few 4 person groups to play two on two matches in anything close to a timely manner. It is often problematic just getting two players together within 5-6 weeks, much less four same time, same place.

The goal is long and straight! But on the many times I cannot seem to hit them straight, I at least want to hit them long!

I love this and it would be fun to line up small groups of 12 (6 teams). As long the large majority write golf course reviews then I don't see it as any problem getting some great deals (on great courses). Of course teams could play each other on their own time too.

The handicap system is above my pay grade, but I'm sure there are some folks out there who know how it would be applied. If not Google can point us in the right direction.

Our Thursday night league went to this format last season. No handicap applied. Was fun change.

I was thinking of dropping out of the next cup because of work schedule. But this sounds like too much fun. Hope it pans out. Now I just need a team mate who excepts a hack as a partner!

Luckily being a hack is part of the requirement otherwise I'd be out for sure!

Two divisions Northern and So Cal teams versus each other then a finals of the division champs.

Are there enough GK'ers north of Madera?

could be very interesting but like any endeavor the devil is in the details. team play/best ball with handicaps can be done art least 2 ways--each player plays to their full handicap9or some % variation) and is given strokes accordingly--each player is given strokes off the low handicapper in the 4some--ie==low player is a 7 gets 0 strokes a 13 gets 6, a 15 gets 8 etc. Best ball net wins hole like in other gk cup matches. or could use the scga tram scoring format with low ball vs low ball and high vs high with 2 possible points in play each hole.
would teams be formed by finding a partner or by random draw?
overall sounds like fun and i would like to participate.
