Hey Noel. I was thinking about heading there this Friday, but no plans made yet. I drove by the north side of the property today. Hole 4 (the first par 5) has a temporary tee at about 200 yards from the green due to a big drain project. Looks like it plays as a short par 4 or long par 3 right now. That's all I have.

I stopped by today and was so happy to see golfers there. I spoke briefly to one of the customer service guys and he said the course is very playable though it was cart path only. He also said the front nine is pretty much the same though the fairway bunkers on 1 and 2 have been removed (thank God!). The back nine will play differently.

The driving range has been completely stripped of grass awaiting artificial turf installation. Part of the parking lot is taken up by rolls an rolls of the artificial turf. I believe it is being recycled from football and soccer fields.

Okay, thanks Kevin & Theb! This helps a lot in the decisions for the weekend and future.

We'll have 2 or 3 for Sunday- still shopping around.

I played it last Saturday. The greens were in great shape. Like others have said, the range was closed and it was cart path only but for the price they charged, I was not disappointed. Like Kevin said, the 4th was playing as a 200 yard Par 4 from the whites.

I didnt play Robinson as much as you guys did over the years to notice all the changes they made. The one thing you really notice is the amount of shrubs and bushes that are gone, making it easy to find your ball if you get off line. They have rough again as well, which was nice when you miss a fairway. That fire really jacked up the back 9, it was kind of eerie. There were also some massive trenches in the middle of fairways for the water to flow through during the rains.

Overall, the course is going to be pretty good once it has time to grow in. You could still see a lot of the seems from laying the sod and my ball seemed to keep finding them.

just curious - when playing for a regular round that counts towards your handicap, would you move a ball from such grooves/seams or play it as it lies?

it would seem to be fair to deem it as grounds under repair. knowing it isn't under normal circumstance... anyway, for me, I would.

Same to you Noel! My game has been mediocre but I am having fun as always.

It wasnt marked GUR and I am not sure it would count as an abnormal condition, so I think you would play it as it lies. My guess would be they have a local rule for it right now that would allow for relief. I just played it as it lied, it wasnt too bad.

by the sounds of the changes, it sounds like the SCGA's going to have to get in there for a re-rating sometime soon. sounds like for the most part though, excluding the temporary short holes, the course has kept its original "bones" and length / shape.
