Has anyone here played in a Pro-Am, if so was it worth the cost, and what did you think of the experience?

One of my playing partners was able to play at Insebroke but he was a guest of Valspar the sponsor. He played a different course than the tournament was played on. Played with an unknown guy but really enjoyed the experience and learned a few things as well!

QUOTED  Insebroke

Innisbrook?

Champions tour used to play Valencia CC regularly. Although I did not play any pro-ams, I did volunteer during one of them delivering ice and beverages to the tees and clubhouse.

I think you had to have at least at verifiable 15 index.

For the most part, the pros were great to be around. Lots of big names from the past like Freddy Couples, Craig Stadler, Fuzzy Zoeller, etc...

I saw groups where the pros gave advice to the individuals playing.

If I had the money, I would do it; however, I am not sure you could pick your pro.

years back when I lived in Corona there was a lower level women"s tour comprised of younger women testing themselves in tourney conditions and more mature ladies that were most likely never going to advance up to LPGA status but who still had the competitive fire that made a loop through the Inland Empire playing for 6-8 weeks at local courses and country clubs. Wednesdays were the pro-ams sometimes scrambles sometimes best ball plus the pro.
Very reasonable--usually $40-$60 entry--did this for 4-5 years getting to know some of the players and having a blast playing in this setting. Certainly it was not high profile or on legendary courses but the experience was well worth it and maybe even beneficial to my game at the time.
Don't know what is out there now that is similar but I wold guess that something like it might still be available--well not for $40 in all likely hood but probably not a budget breaker either.

I have walked in Pro-Mm groups many times at Riviera and at Sherwood. Usually the amateurs are people of money or work for a golf company. The am that I speak to love the experience and love the dinner, party and gifts that is included. I've heard (not verified) you get what you pay for as in what level of pro you get.

For me it would be very intimidating.

Best pro-am pro I've been with - Fred Couples
Worst - Bryson Dechambeau (6.5 hour round)

I have played in 2 Pro Am's over the years. Well worth it (IMO) if you get the right Pro.

My first was The Byron Nelson and our Pro was Lee Trevino. Fantastic day of golf.

My second was Doral and our Pro was Greg Norman. I wasted my money.

I also played in a charity event at Silverado and our Pro was Johnny Miller. Another fantastic day of golf.

I played in a pro am almost 20 years ago with Chi Chi Rodriguez. Absolute great time. I have heard over the years that it depends on who you get for the pro. We were obviously lucky.
