How is Elkins Ranch and its surrounding area? Was considering it for tomorrow's birthday round.

I don't think that it crossed the 126 Highway onto that side of Fillmore. Smoke may be an issue, but the Course should still be in good condition. I would call them up though and double check.

Hansen Dam barely avoided disaster. I was there last Friday morning for a lesson, and the hills on the back side were still smoldering. The wash behind the driving range and course were completely burned. I had no idea the Creek Fire came down into Pacoima. There are some palm trees that were burned on hole 9 (I think, becuase I haven't actually played a round there in many, many years.) My coach has his teaching area down to the left of the range, and the fire even scorched some of the grass on the edges of the range. So surreal to see.

I called Soule Park this morning knowing I was going to play Olivas with a friend--but was just curious anyway. Phone just kept ringing--fingers crossed-- I am fearing the worst for Soule Park and Ojai CC but hope I am wrong--also was concerned about little Mountainview in Santa Paula. Glad to hear that Elkins is OK--Olivas was fine today--little smoky in the air but not to bad--they were handing out little masks to players if they wanted them--thought that was pretty cool.

Looks like the fire burned to the perimeter of Ojai Valley inn and Soule Park.

Access is probably limited on the roads in those areas. Might check with CalTrans or Cal Fire sites regarding closures.

You can zoom in on areas to see the fire/burn lines

Something with this site REALLY screw up links by putting random spaces in the URL's Copy it to the address bar and remove the space in the word "fire".
