Will be in Pomona this Friday on biz and want to walk on as a single about noon or so. Thinking of a 30 minute radius from Pomona. Have played Industry Hills yrs ago but thinking more of Oak Quarry. Unfortunately the OQ recent reviews are less than stellar.

Suggestions that mite work appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Mislaw,
I played the Ike last week and it is in excellent shape. If they still have the $60 rate it is totally worth it. On a budget I think Mountain Meadows is always a fun choice and a nice walk. Lastly , Oak Quarry is such a nice track (don't think they allow walkers) but it is always worth a look if conditions improve but Goose Creek is in the best overall shape hands down and very walkable.

Sierra Lakes and San Dimas Canyon are two that you should consider. Have not played either in years but I would prefer Sierra Lakes of the two. It is further out there though. San Dimas Canyon is just around the corner. Los Serranos is my personal favorite in the area. One benefit is that it has two courses making it more likely you can get right out walking on.

Zaharias at Industry Hills. $44 IMO best value and best course, within 30 minutes of Pomona.

Nothing wrong with playing Mountain Meadows which is in Pomona across from the fairgrounds. Just played it and is in very nice condition. Greens are excellent right now. Down side is it can get pretty slow. 4.5 to 5 hours not uncommon there but the course is definitely worth the price.

I've looked at the ratings of all courses suggested and Goose Creek seems head and shoulders above. Talked to a guy there who sed walking on noonish would be fine. Looking forward to it. Sounds like it's in great condition, challenging but fair. Not many courses ranked 9+ here on GK.

Goose Creek is not Industry Hills, but it is a better value on a weekday (including Fridays) than any other course in southern California. You won't be disappointed! Please let me know if you are and why.

So I opted for Goose Creek and got there about noon. Got right out. Xlnt temp, breezy in spots. Not a lot of up and down, a straight forward layout with some good targets. Greens were good. Some very healthy par 5s.

Pretty slow pace out there but that was partially because the 3 some I got paired with were pretty bad golfers and one was really, really bad. Plus they hit up the cart girl for some strong, hard alcoholic drinks and broke out the cigars. Did their play worsen thereafter? You betcha.

Got to be pretty intolerable so bailed at the turn. The one guy with me sed he prefers Oak Quarry. Doubtful I'll return to Goose. Not just because of the
3 some but it's just not a real inspiring course (and with a ton of players, full parking lot). Place is making some coin though, it looks like.
