I'm staying at the Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert the last week in May. I have played the Classic Club and both courses at Terra Lago numerous times and enjoy all three. I noticed there are 2 courses where I'm staying and was wondering if anyone would recommend them or any other courses in the area.

I have played both those Marriott courses many years ago; I don't remember much, but it was not bad in any way.

Just across Country Club Drive to the north is Desert Willow. One of my favorites. Shadow Ridge (north and west off of Monterey Avenue) is also a great track and a favorite of mine.

I'm sure many other GKers will chime in.

So many good choices in the area.

Desert Willow fire cliff is one of the best out there. Also if you have two players you can buy a PGA West deal on underpar.com that includes a round at any of their courses ( TPC Stadium, Greg Norman, Nicklaus Tournament or La Quinta dunes and mountain) plus you get a free replay to use on any course. its 150 for Friday- Sat and 130 for Sun-Thur. We used one last weekend for Norman and stadium. Both highly recommended

I agree on Desert Willow and PGA West. I think Shadow Ridge is a Faldo design Marriott course which is a good track. I played one of the Desert Springs ( don't remember which one) but it was enjoyable.

Not a fan of the Desert Springs courses. Played them each once and they left me with little memory but slow greens.

I agree with the Desert Willow courses and Shadowridge. I like Shadowridge a lot. Quite a few interesting holes with some risk/reward holes. The Desert Willow courses have the advantage of proximity.

Desert Falls is just down the street. I have always found it a good course at a fair price. Not as premium an experience as Desert Willow or Shadowridge, but fun nonetheless.

It's a no-brainer...Faldo's Shadow Ridge. Personally, I think the Firecliff Course is somewhat overrated and not all that special, along with being prone to less-than-premium playing conditions.

Not a big fan of either the Palm Course or the Valley Course at Desert Springs. I would take a look at playing the Celebrity Course and the Players Course at Indian Wells Golf Resort. Another great course that so many of the GK'ers (including myself) love playing at is Rams Hill down in Borrego Springs. It's about a 75 minute drive from Palm Desert, but well worth the drive. John had 2 GK events out there in 2016 and I drove in from Phoenix to play there.

The two courses at the Marriott are okay and are lots of fun- not great, but I've had a lot of fun there at both courses.

Also all the other courses suggested are all good. To add to that, you'll be in the middle of it all, location wise, so you really don't have to limit yourself to that area. You could actually play one or more up in the top list and travel time to course won't be an issue.

The Coachella golf has plenty of courses and it's hard to take it all in and pick just a couple so enjoy your visit and whichever one you play, good luck and play well.

Go to Desert Willow as its a stones throw from the JW. Played PGA West Norman back in March as well as Desert Willow Firecliff. Both are great courses but I think Firecliff from tee to green is a better track. The courses at the JW are more resort courses but are still fun. If you plan on playing there both tracks (Palms/Valley) are equal but get out early to avoid the long rounds and give yourself some quality afternoon time to relax by the pool with a beverage in hand and take in the scenery which never disappoints ( :
