Went to book a practice bay for my lunch hour, and this option came up. Didn't see anything about it in the store. 5 spots still open when last checked.

Just got back from my fitting - very interesting, although I am bummed that I believe I left my fitting results sheet there. I did remember to bring home the dozen Chrome Soft and the Ogio duffle bag - nice!

The 2019 Apex Pro is a beauty. But for me, the standard Apex was just a hair better in performance.

The fitter (Nathan I think, it is on that sheet that I forgot, grrrrr) was really insightful. After watching me hit my standard fade a dozen times, he switched me out to a 2* upright head which felt and performed better. Being a bit on the shorter side (5'7" and getting shorter daily) I had always thought a flat lie would fit me more, but I come down to the ball with the toe of the clubhead lower, so Nathan suggested an upright lie would even out the turf contact. Definitely something for me to try out later.

Went through several iron shafts - the stock 95 gram steel, Project Xi, KBS C-Taper, KBS Tour 115, the old DGS300, and even the Project X Catalyst graphite. The two KBS shafts and the Catalyst worked well for me, and the old DGS300 was just too heavy for this old guy - it was hard to get that club all the way in a backswing after a few swings.

In the end, I was getting 5 yards more than my current set. But the Apex lofts are 2 degrees stronger, so in truth no real distance gain there. I was last fitted for irons in 2007, so good to know that what I have selected for myself works well enough.

The new Apex line is very nice indeed. If you are in the market for new irons, definitely consider those.
