So I have a quick question to you GKers.

How do you usually look for a golf course on GK? This would be something that you're looking for randomly like if you were to find something close to where you're going to be or just browsing for a golf course. I'm not talking about golf courses you frequently visit.

Do you use the Maintenance Alerts link at the top to drill down to the counties? Do you use the course finder? If you do, do you use the Green Fee, Location and Scorecard search? Do you even know it's there? Would a Zipcode Search help a lot as well as just searching for the golf course name?

I've always used the maintenance alert to find any golf course here.

I look for deals--if it requires booking a tee time on the site I do a quick check through course finder for maintenance status and hopefully a recent review.
I really prefer to use coupons or vouchers like from GK(1st choice) or Golf Southern Cal or Underpar or some times even groupon as these allow more flexibility to set tee times and more time to review the status of the course.
Know before you go really works for me

Ditto for me . . . I use the maintenance alert tab. I also use that tab to check the weather. I just find a course close to where I will be if I'm checking for work or whatever.

So when you use the course finder, you just look up the name of the golf course then?

I just use the course finder and type in the course I want to play. I rarely look at the map to see courses in the area, its more like a direct search.

I use the maintenance alert tab then narrow it down to where I'll be. But in some cases it gets tedious, such as switching back and forth from Riverside and San Bernadino counties.

I will use the maintenance alert tab to get a general geographic area, then use the map. Using a zip code would be nice but I don't always have that information handy.

Interesting, why do you need to switch back and forth between Riverside and San Bernadino?
