No mosquitos. Course lay out is great. Condition was OK. Rough was thick but overall it was OK.

Busy this time of year. 4 hour round on a Monday afternoon. Played front nine and waited a bit on every hole. Hooked up with a twosome on the back nine and that made pace of play better.

Paid $82 per person because i booked early. If I waited until a few days before it would have been $68.

I would play it again. Not great but OK.

The greens got a little quicker throughout the day but the ball would hold...the fairways were in excellent shape and thanks to fellow golfers for repairing ball marks and divots. The rough was a challenge as it was pretty thick. For this time of year (Oct) it was lush and well taken care of.

Walked on as a single 7/10 at 3:30 in the afternoon and pretty much had the course to myself until I caught a group on 15. I finished in just under 3 hours. From the pro shop to the cart girl to the marshall cruising the course, the staff were all very friendly.

The tee boxes were level for the most part. The fairways were lush and great to hit off of, for how soft they felt I was suprised with the amount of roll out I was getting. The rough was consistent throughout the course, I seemed to be in it by every green and I never found a patchy spot. I only found one bunker, it was little firm but still playable. The greens were pretty soft but still ran pretty smooth, a bit on the slow side but still enjoyable.

I will definitely make my way back to this course when I make my annual trip to Tahoe. I think the courses biggest defense is the wind. If you arent used to the altitude it can screw with you too. I almos forgot to mention the wildlife. There were deer everywhere, it made for an enjoyable round.

Greens are very smooth. Somewhat slow (around 9). But quite consistent and no brown spots even in the fringes.
Fairways are generally good with some brown spots. Rough starting to get long and the ball tends to sit down. Bunkers are OK, but somewhat firm. Overall course condition is very good.

Course is a challenging layout. Good mix of short and long holes. Wind will blow on most days whichadds to the difficulty. One of the better courses to play in the Carson City area. Green fees are quite high relative to the other courses in the area.

Cart staff loads your clubs, beverage cart was around regularly. Snack bar at the turn next to the driving range. Range balls are extra, but range is grass, with a chipping area. Small putting green near the first tee.

Restaurant and bar have reopened. But it seems to me that $5.50 is a little strong for a draft beer. Overall a good golfing experience, but quite pricey compared to the other courses in the area. I'd really like to play this course one time when the wind doesn't blow.

Played 6/16/2014, temp in the 60's, wind 10-20 gusting higher. 8AM shotgun in a tournament which is why the pace of play was so slow -- around 5 hours. I hadn't played here in a few years. Course looks completely recovered from the debacle of 2011 when the lack of snow coupled with a cold winter left the grass very bad. For the last few years, Genoa Lakes has hosted first round US Open qualifying and the course is probably quite challenging from the tips. Greens, fairways and rough are very good, although the greens are a little slow and quite firm. Bunkers were packed down sand, but you could still get a SW through the sand, so they were playable. Greens are quite large, but fair. Chipping area around the greens was also quite playable and not as long and thick as the rough adjoining the fairway. The wind added to the challenge of the course. On a calm day, the course would play much easier. Fairways are quite wide. I suggest the Blue tees for the shorter hitters (200 yard drives), the Green tees for the longer hitters (250+) and the Combo tees for those in between. Lots of water features -- lakes, marshes and the Carson River snakes through the back side. But except for an occasional tee shot carry, the water and marsh areas are not really in play unless you hit a butcher shot. MAJOR DOWNSIDE: The clubhouse, restaurant and bar are closed due to the cost of operating them. Cart service only twice in 18 holes. There is a small snack bar at the turn next to the driving range (which is pretty good with grass hitting areas). Better to bring your own water and snacks. We paid $45, but the rack rate is $110 in the prime summer months. But the pro shop indicated that they would drop that rate about $25 if I asked them to. Twilight starts at 1PM and appears to be around $80, although the wind often blows in the afternoon. It is usually calm til about noon, unlike today. This course is a nice layout with a lot of variety in the hole designs. Some elevation changes and some doglegs. I will play here again depending on the cost. No bells and whistles here -- just a place to play golf. Course is just north of the town of Genoa which claims to be the oldest settlement in Nevada around 1850. Dayton is about 30 miles away and makes the same claim. So if you want a little history with your golf, Genoa Lakes is the place. NOTE: Genoa Resort course is a couple of miles down the road and shares the same management. However, Genoa Resort is to be avoided as the course layout is unremarkable (to be kind).

Many layups and forced carries but choose tee box wisely.

Played here last week on a family vacation. Got on for the twilight rate of 45 and the guy in the pro shop said the normal rate for this course was 115 dollars. This course was HORRIBLE!!!!!!! I just wrote a review about Dark Horse and how the conditions have taken a drastic turn for the worse. This course is has serious issues with the conditions. For them to charge over 100 dollars to play this course is unreal. This is a 25 dollar course right now. I have read positive reviews about this course in the past and maybe at one time it was a solid track. Not anymore!!!!!!
