Early morning launch;green fee included meal. Good F&B avail.
Pace was brisk. Greens are good. Well maintained. Fairways and rough are dry but summer maintenance. Good time had by all.

Sand traps had rocks (not pebbles) and a lot of them. My son ruined a brand new Titlest Vokey wedge when he hit a two inch diameter rock just below the surface. At end of round, asked Pro (in a nice way, not obnoxiously) if he was aware of conditions, he was non-apologetic and basically blew me off without the courtesy of an explanation. Many of the greens had pebbles and rocks on them as a result of shots hit from the surrounding traps, so to putt, you had to sweep the green first. Many of the fairways (not all) were thin and very hard. I have played this course and the West course in the past and thought they were at worst an okay value. The attitude encountered this time and the very, very poor maintenance (at least on the East course) have convinced me to never play this course again.

Been playing Blue rock for almost a year now and my experiences have been nothing but positive.
The greens and fairways are better than most courses in the Bay Area.
Vallejo stays cool throughout the summer and that helps keep the grasses green and plush. The early Summer months will bring a little wind but nothing like the courses in Brentwood/Antioch area.
The amenities are fair, with a small cafe and separate golf shop. The only complaint I would have regarding this course is not having enough drinking fountains on the course and the cart girl doesn't come out before 9 or 10am.
The prices are outstanding for a course in this kind of condition.
I believe the weekend rates are $50 to ride and $35 to walk.
The west course is another great 18 hole treasure but I prefer the East.

Played East Course 4/29/06. The course was in good condition. Bunkers were firm because of recent wet weather. Greens were slow as they were just sanded. Better be in good shape if your walking this course as it is very up and down. Staff at the club house was nice and friendly. I can't say that about the marshalls though, one marshall swore at one of the members in our foursome to hurry up his play.

Tee off@ 9:36 Friday, 2/10/06, Windy conditions, Greens Faster than expected, few holes were wet in the fairway due to winter conditions. All in all, a great day for golf, with friends.

This is a good public course which is well maintained and fun to play.
The green fess were very reasonable, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. Don't be fooled by the distance, 5776 yds. from the white tees, the greens more than make up for the short yardage. Keep the ball below the hole or you'll be in for a long day. Lots of birdie opportunities. Be careful on the 7th hole, a par 5 from an extremely elevated tee, with a sharp dogleg right. Looks like you can cut the dogleg but safest play is down the middle, with a long iron or fairway wood. A well hit driver will probably put you in deep rough on the side of a hill. You can still get home in 2 from the fairway with a good 2nd shot or you'll be right in front with an easy up & down for birdie.

East course is well maintained. Greens are smooth and medium speed. Course is getting busy as the West side is being upgraded.
