Played 3/16 at 10:30. Got around in 3:30 despite some waiting on majority of holes. Spectacular spring day. Course is still trying to dry out from a wet winter. Fairways were generally soft, many areas of rough were still swampy and those areas also hadn't been mowed recently. Led to several lost balls on slight misses of the fairway and was a bit frustrating. Greens, however, seem to drain well and were in really good shape. Rolled a bit quick and were difficult to read. Sand in both fairway and greenside bunkers is thin and has lots of pebbles. Course is nothing groundbreaking but pleasant, and I generally enjoyed it. Houses do line several fairways as it winds through the subdivision. A tricky little executive layout, partially due to small and well protected greens on several holes. Worth a visit if you're in the area. If you can hit it 200 and straight off the tee you can be in position attack every hole with a short iron or wedge. If you want to hit balls beforehand, head to the Valley of the Moon course a few minutes up the road; no driving range on the Sugarloaf side, just a small cashier's building with sparse supplies and a few bags of chips. There is a small putting green as well. Valley of the Moon side has a full restaurant and bar, snack shack, and pro shop in addition to larger putting green and driving range.

The Oakmont East Course was a fun executive course to start our GK Review Guru day at Oakmont Golf Club. Served as a good warm-up for the regulation main course, West. Oakmont Golf Club in general attracts 60% of its play from the public and 40% of its play from its members. The members are largely seniors and you could tell the East Course is predominantly played by them.

I enjoyed this little executive track. Par 63 with more challenge than I anticipated. Lots of long par 3’s and in almost all cases large trees requiring shot shaping on every hole. It was a beautiful time to play Oakmont Golf Club with Fall colors in full bloom plus we caught a sunny day.

I went into this round knowing the course was still under maintenance on the tail end of green aeration recovery and in the midst of fairway aeration. GK Review Guru rounds are typically timed to catch golf courses when they are out of maintenance and in better shape. But being I was visiting NorCal from SoCal, I needed to hit it while I was up there. Fellow GK Review Guru’s sixpez and rgm2525 joined for the round.

I thought the course was in decent condition. Greens ran on the slower side which was expected and still a bit bumpy. Fairways thin in some places and lush in others. Rough was spotty with some thin spots and lush spots. Tee boxes in good shape, mostly level. Sand traps were in general thin and firm. My guess in about couple weeks the greens will be in much better shape.

After the round I was impressed with the cleaning station fully equipped with air compressor to blow off your spikes and water hose to wash off your pull cart.

A well-organized little course with a good deal of challenge and beautiful natural surrounding scenery. Would play again if I was visiting the area in need a quick round or warmup round for the West Course. Check out the photos I posted.

Played 10-20-16 with Johnnygk and Sixpez for a GKguru round playing early morning and finishing in about 3 hours. Tee boxes were in good shape with some being a little un-level but nothing real bad. Fairways were in descent shape for the most part with some small thin areas and bare spots. Rough was a mix of thick and lush to some bare areas. Was in 3 green side bunkers all of which were very firm with thin sand. Greens were okay a little slow and bumpy with a few having some small bare spots. Okay little executive course that has some real nice long three pars.

The GK Gurus had a double-dip at Oakmont today. Our first round on the executive East course was just myself, JohnnyGK and rgm2525. We teed off around 7:40 and were finished at 11:00. Not too crowded out there, with mostly just elderly members walking the course.

The course was in decent shape from tee to green. The tee boxes were fine. The fairways were a bit shaggy in the morning and some have been recently aerated so you may encounter some turf pellets. They were punching the 10th fairway as we played this morning. The rough wasn't always consistent, but it seemed mostly pretty lush. Bunkers on the thin side, but playable. Greens were soft and slow. Some on the front nine were really beat up. One (I think it was hole 2 or 3) was really ugly. Otherwise, most were okay and seemed to get a little better as the round went on and things dried out.

This is a decent little executive course with a pretty fun layout. The par-4s are all short and a few of the par-3s are very long. Lots of big trees in play. Scenic setting and positive overall experience.

When in need of a confidence boost with shorter straight Par 4's and typical Par 3's on a course in great condition try this course. This course 1-2 years ago was in transition and quite frankly a mess. Needed a boost in confidence and wow what a beauty. Greens were prime, fairways perfect and rough was lush. Green fee's can be pricey if you don't look for the deals. Golfnow is your friend.

Thursday 17 March noon tee time, single, walking; finished in 3 hours. NorCal is nice this time of year - 50 degrees, light breeze with rain falling, ball plugging/collecting mud. Just the soothing sound of water squishing out from around your feet while walking on the soft fairways, muck all over your pants. Oh, can't forget about dragging the rake through the casual water in the bunkers to retrieve the ball either, as all of them were essentially GUR. Ah, winter golf; love it. (?) The best part about the whole round was getting to the magnificent greens. Pure, smooth, fast and holding well. Surprised how well they drained. Don't forget aeration begins on this East course 28 March, so I may return mid May.
Only a warm up green near the starter hut. Overall presentation- good. Greens great to immaculate. Other areas lush and green.
Layout was average but there are enough engaging holes to leave the golfer with an accomplished feeling after the round. No drinks cart today. BYO water (see my previous post below). Easy walking course.

Monday 15 Nov tee time 1133 twosome riding. Carts have GPS. Only warm up green near the starter hut. Overall presentation very good. Greens great to immaculate (see lvphil702 below). Other areas lush and green with sand inconsistent with some bunkers having lots of pebbles.
Layout was average but there are enough engaging holes to leave the golfer with an accomplished feeling after the round. Pace around 4 hours on a busy autumn day. No drinks cart today. Oakmont East is the little brother exec course and a real nice one. Played two rounds October 9 and 10th (wife and new golfer!) and the greens and fairways are in perfect condition. I believe they just came out of aeration or overseeding. Runs about 4000 years and the greens are always lightning fast, this weekend, 9.1, but I've seen them over 11 before. Cost can be an issue here as weekend mornings are around $50.
