One of the must plays of the South Bay. Consistently some of the best and fastest greens in the area. Beautiful and challenging layout. Side note: Check out the golf museum in the clubhouse. Great memorabilia and replicas of the Major's trophies! Good practice facility.

The condition is great and the layout is lots of fun. Greens are fast but roll true, require some shot making to get close. Finished < 4.5 hour. The green fee is great for such a course in bay area. I am looking forward to come back and play again!

45 Minute drive to get there and well worth the trip. A must if you are serious about playing a great layout.

One of my favorite courses in the South Bay. I can't really think of anything negative about this course. Friendly staff, great course conditions, quiet, not over-crowded. Play their early bird special, $59 w/ cart Mon-Thurs before 9am...great deal.

played for the first time on easter sunday. other than the little kids that ran on the 9th green and 10th tee (parents fault), it was a thoroughly enjoyable round. it's a little pricey for rifraf like me, but really no more so than other courses of the same quality. i like the fact there are three 9's, so i will probably go back. staff was great. i used pretty much every club in the bag, and had to think my way around. plus, nothing too gimmicky. it probably didn't hurt that i was killing it, but i would definitely recommend this course (played lake & canyon 9's).

Would like to see the green fee's come down a little bit. Very nice golf course but seems to me that they're after the dollar more than the golfer. Bring the golfer, they'll bring the dollars but its not going to happen if they don't offer a better rate.

Played this course on 6/22/06. Loved playing there and will go back again. Please see Qwerty123's review as that pretty much says it all about this course. If you haven't played there before you've got to try it.

i loved the course! the sand traps were more dirt traps, that is the worst i could say. it was great that the refreshment cart stayed out after 7pm and the restroom availability was perfect.

Cinnabar Hills--a “must play” golf course in the Bay Area.

I’ve played this course about a dozen times and love coming out to this scenic, beautifully designed and maintained course. This is one of the most enjoyable course to play in the Bay Area.

THINGS TO LIKE

+ Imaginative, original course design with lots of elevation changes and excellent use of the natural surroundings. Truly beautiful to look at.

+ Well maintained course—greens are usually in excellent condition and the fairways are usually very good, too.

+ Course drains very well—can be played after several days’ rain with little problem.

+ Lots of wild life—heron, coyote, wild turkey and more—and only surrounding nature lining holes (no homes or anything else).

+ Beautiful, spacious, upscale clubhouse and pro shop.

+ Full practice facility with a large, grass tee driving range, 3 different putting greens and a good chipping and sand practice green.

+ Newer carts with lots on amenities including useful, accurate GPS and helpful hole tips.

THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE

- High handicappers will probably find the holes too challenging and unforgiving. Also, if you are wild off the tee, bring lots of balls. The greens are large, hard, undulating and very fast.

- A bit on the expensive side ($80/$100 weekends), but Mondays and Tuesday are $59 and Super Twilight is $40 M-Th.

- Like many popular courses, play can be slow at peak times—allow five hours when it is busy.

- Not a walker’s course—everyone rides in a cart.

It was my first time to play at Cinnabar Hills GC and I did enjoy playing there. The best thing at Cinnabar is that they have 27 holes, which would encourage me to play there as there is 1.5 times of fun!!

I would like to play there again soon.

Played the Mountain/Lakes combo. Very hilly. Some holes require prior course knowledge to know where to place your tee shot. Some blind shots. Course is in good condition.

This was the second time I've had the pleasure of playing Cinnabar Hills. Firse time was just after it opened. And I do mean pleasure!! Played the Canyon/Lakes combo on 8/11/05. Greens held high, soft shots well. Fairways were nearly perfect! Perhaps I was not reading the grain well, but, it seemed as if the greens (mostly fast fast FAST!!) were a tad inconsistant. Tough to read! But they rolled smooth and true. This course is worth the $$$ price tag....I believe I got the early-bird weekday rate which I think was $58.00. I will play this gem every time I'm in the San Jose area!!

Course is always in excellant condition with one of the best layouts in the state located in the foothills in South San Jose.
Also some of the most beautiful views in a very rural setting
Three distinct nines - Canyon/Lake/& Mountain. Drains better than any other course I've played.
They also have nice twilight specials for both the early AM (before 8:30) and afternoons. You won't be dissapointed.
Enjoy!

Cinnabar Golf Club, in my opinion is the "best" golf club in the San Jose area, I say that for the following reasons.

1. The course is kept in immaculate conditions.
2. The greens are very hard, making approach shots difficult, but once on the greens they also putt very true.
3. Although a difficult course, loaded with numerous deep sand traps, (always in great condition) hilly lies, and pretty deep rough, you are rewarded if you can keep the ball in play.
4. Built in a foothill region, with numerous elevation changes to challenge the best golfers, there may be only one quirky hole on the entire 27 hole layout.
5. The 27 holes are very unique, there is no repetative feel.
6. The Clubhouse staff treats you well, they are "User Friendly" rather than snooty.
7. Although a very difficult golf course, I have played some of my best rounds here when striking the ball well.
8. Although a bit expensive, (play Twilight if necessary) if you are in the area, it is a must play.

Played course on a rainy Saturday morning. Played Canyon and lake courses. Course played very difficult. Accuracy off the tee is a must, expecially on the par 3's. Very Hilly, with fast greens.

Cinnabar Hills is one of the premier spots to play in the South Bay area of San Francisco. A must play if you are in Northern California
