Okay I know it has been awhile since my last review but this COVID thing just got in the way. I snuck out to Big Rec yesterday at 9:30 for a round. Haven’t played here for a long time but was pleasantly surprised on the conditions. The course was nice and green with a few overwatered areas. Check in was easy and on time. Tees, fairways, and greens were all good. Bunkers and rough were inconsistent and not well kept but that’s what you get for a muni. We waited on most shots but still finished in 4 hours on a beautiful day. I would play here again.

Played here today at 8:20 after a long awaited return. The wind was up so scoring was tough but it was a beautiful warm day with friends. I am tired of writing about COVID procedures so I will just say the to go food was good. Let’s start with the real good.....the greens putted excellent. They were fast, difficult, curvy, and rolled smooth. The punched with small holes not long ago but it did not affect the way the ball rolled. They were a joy to put on however with the winds blowing there was plenty of 3 putts out there. Next, the pace was also real good. We finished in under 4 hours walking and no waiting. The sand, fairways and tee boxes were mixed but playable and the only real bummer was the hard pan areas which were many. Very hard ground with bark and small rocks made it tough. On a hilly course in the wind I guess you find yourself off the fairway lots so the hard pan just made things worse. All in all a great day and we will be back to tackle Los Robles again soon. Stay safe all.

We played 36 holes here yesterday. Only played here once before maybe 15 years ago so didn’t remember a hole except 18. We thoroughly enjoyed the layout with a great mix of holes and some tough pin placements. If this course could find a way to better the overall conditions we would make this a “must play” especially the par three holes which were all great.
Now more on course conditions, the sand is top quality and a joy to play out of. There are plenty of well placed bunkers so having sand like this was great. The greens were nice, rolled semi fast, undulating, and fun to putt on. The rest of the course needs some work. They should go take a look at Goose Creek and mimic what they do in regards to their attention to detail. A little more effort and this course could be a gem. Customer service was excellent throughout, pace was 4 hours, and our overall experience was great.......recommended

we played here yesterday with 32 players. Got this in just before everything closed down AGAIN. Opinions on the course were all about the same when i talked with my group. Greens were excellent, the layout was a ton of fun, tee boxes were good. It was cart path only due to some overseeding going on in the fairways. The fairways were also quick wet due to to overseeding so we played lift, clean, and place. Bunkers were okay and service was awesome. We hope to play again when conditions are at their peak. CPO, made for long rounds and tough scoring. recommended

My first time playing here and i was very pleased with everything. Greens we healed and ran semi fast and smooth. Tees were all level and fairways were nice for the most part but did have some patchy areas. I thought the bunkers were consistent and had enough sand to play shots from. Getting into the base and finding this gem was the real battle but once we did we all thoroughly enjoyed our round and will definitely be returning. Pace was great too and normal COVID protocols were in place.

do to all the good reviews we headed to Anaheim Hills to give her a try. Greens were great and held shots well however ball marks were plentiful. we all felt the rest of the conditions were good throughout but not great. we would say 7 out of 10 at best. Tees were a little chewed up, fairways were green and nice but did give you inconsistent lies, bunkers were okay for the most part, and the rough was definitely hit or miss but you are suppose to hit the fairways so you take what you get. Pace of play was 4 hours riding with some waiting on the back nine. Range open, putting green open, snack bar open, and carts were single or double rider. be safe.....

We played here a couple days ago teeing off at 7:20 and finishing at 11:00. This is a great course to walk IMO except for the walk up to the 10th tee. Luckily our foursome had two single cart riders so was able to hitch a ride. We don’ Get a chance to play here much based on the high green fees but were able to treat ourselves this week with the $79 dollar senior rate. The course conditions are very nice right now. They throw a lot of water on this course so it is very green but not much roll in spots that were watered. Tees were level, fairways were lush, and the greens rolled smooth, semi fast and held shots. The bunkers were only okay but better than most of the other courses I’ve played. The real challenge was around the greens. Tight lies, flop shots over bunkers, and well placed pins made things interesting for us all. A great golf course with a nice variety of holes. Reachable par 5’s that with risk reward options and a 600 yard one that proved worthy. Great par 3 holes and many other great holes as well. Only wish they had better deals.....

I played here quite a bit in the past but stopped when conditions were not great. Reading GK reviews made me return yesterday with a 7:20 tee time. The course is in much better shape now from previous visits. I can’t say things were lush or pristine but it is well worth the $47 green fee with cart. Greens held shots and rolled smooth, tees level, fairways were okay, rough was inconsistent, and the sand was playable. Pace was slow especially in 85 degree heat. No cart person or Marshall was seen. Finished in 4.5 hours and stopped at the snack bar for a bite to eat. Covid forced them to a limited menu so we asked for the hot dog...........wow I am not a big fan of hot dogs but we all thought it was one of the best we’ve ever had.

I walked on here yesterday at 4:30 and got right out. I haven't played here in a long time but wanted to work on a few things in my game so gave it a try. I would give this course a C for effort. They try to keep the tees level but many different grasses are used. The try to keep the rough cut but fail in many spots. They try to keep the greens nice but the players here don't think fixing their ball marks is their job....at least 10 unrepaired marks per green. They try to keep the pace with 10 minute interval tee times but we never saw a marshall. Lastly, a big F on the rock hard bunkers. If you were lucky enough to to find sand in any of them bravo!! To bad though, they have a nice mix of holes here that would make this place more fun to visit if conditions were bettr.

Played here for only my second time on Friday 6/26/20. This is really a great muni with all kinds of tough but fun holes. The par threes are all great and the lay out is not boring with doglegs, short holes, long holes, elevation changes, trees, and water hazards. I guess it has a little something for everyone. The conditions were a tick up from many other muni’s but many areas could use some TLC. Greens were great rolling semi fast and smooth. If you are not hitting your driver well then it can be a long day here. Consider playing the white tees for a more enjoyable round if the driver isn’t working........I certainly should have.....

Haven’t played here in a long time but finally did yesterday. We had a 7:30 time and got off right on time. There are MANY memorable holes at OAk Quarry and it is easy to get a big number on them if you lose focus. Conditions are excellent right now the the best being the greens. The rolled real smooth and were about 10-11 on the meter. Everything is in top condition with the exception of the bunkers. They were inconstant and could use some more sand. We finished in 4 hours and hated to see our round end.
I can see the point of the last reviewer, there was only one person working in the pro shop and he was checking everyone in, taking payments, scooping range balls, and serving coffee etc. I could easily see how things could get behind as the day goes on. My only problem with the course would be the yardage markers......or lack of them. I could not find any yardages on the sprinkler heads and the GPS on the carts were removed. With all the elevation changes here it would be nice to know the correct distance. I did have a scope but often it could not pick up the flagstick for some reason.
Highly recommend playing here and the senior rate was $65

Played here yesterday teeing of at 3:20 walking. I got a prepaid rate on their website for $20!
What an unbelievable deal for a great track with no homes and grape vine views. Picking the right tees to play is a must here as this course plays difficult but not unfair. Conditions were great overall. Most tee boxes were level, fairways were green and great to play from and bunkers had enough sand to hit descent shots. The greens rolled true but were a little bumpy due to my late Sunday afternoon tee time. The front nine is a casual fun walk but your heart rate definitely goes up on the back. Finished in under 4 hours which was great and can’t wait to play it again. Highly recommended
