Played here today with a 2:15 start time, thanks to an invitation from my friend Todd (@th_golf_photography on IG). Course very was busy but we started right on time and pace was good, finishing in a little under 4 hours, despite minor waits on most tees. We were a foursome behind a twosome.

Conditions are quite good. Greens seem like they were aerated maybe 3-4 weeks ago, still impacting putts a little bit with wobbles and a very thin sanding on top. Another week or two and they should be all healed. Despite the aeration, they got pretty fast on downhillers and I think we all ran putts significantly past the hole a few times. I loved these fairways; they're in very nice shape with plenty of cushion underneath the ball and providing great lies. The rough was maybe 2-3 inches deep, in good condition, and not too penal. White tee boxes were all really nice. For the bunkers, some holes have tan sand and some have what looks like brand new bright white sand. Both are well maintained but not quite as soft and fluffy as they look – an inch or two of sand on top of a firmer base.

This was my first time ever playing here. The front nine is pretty basic and straightforward, then some character starts to shine through on the back nine. Five par 3s and five par 5s. I loved the downhill par-3 14th, protected on the right side by a small lake/pond. The par-4 13th was also fun with a significant drop from the tee box to the fairway. Course looked great in the afternoon sunlight. I was stoked to finally get a chance to play here!

Walked this AM with a buddy and a local single. This is an extremely fun course if you can get out and get around in a reasonable time frame. Our PoP, walking was 3 hrs 40 min. We were never waiting on any shot and had a 2 some behind us (we asked a couple times if they wanted to play through) right on us the whole round.

Greens...have healed really nicely. Rolled very true and had a really good speed. Downhill you had to be careful and uphill you could give it some go. Had 7 birds today so safe to say I was feeling these greens. Only complaint (not a course complaint) just wish people would fix their ball marks.

Boxes (played the tips) were pretty decent. Only had to really look for level ground on a couple....the rest were all pretty easy to find a good spot with plenty of grass.

Fairways were in great shape. #1 had a couple spots as GUR but that's really the only issue I saw out there.

Rough (not desert/planter area)....plenty of coverage. Little long but not too punishing. Did not give you a hard time getting out of it.

Planter areas...long. good luck finding your ball. Lost a couple where we thought we saw exactly where they went.

Played 4-11-24 8:00 am start. Great weather for golf warm, but no wind to speak of at all. If you have ever played in Fontana you know that is rare. Great check-in and friendly in the clubhouse, starter was laid back and in a great mood. Got out about 10 minutes early finished right at 11:30. Tee boxes in great shape, except for the par three's. Don't understand why people can't just sand their divot after hitting ? Fairways were very nice to hit form. They still have that bermuda off color, but had full coverage except for the divots. Greens were punched middle of March and have healed very well. Still a little soft so a well struck iron stopped pretty fast. Lots of breaks on the greens made it fun to putt at a medium speed , maybe 10 ?
Over all great place to play golf.

played the Babe yesterday. Funny to see the post Covid shift pricing. Course was in pretty good condition and the greens were really nice. Pace of play was excellent. The biggest gripe is that for an 80 dollar price tag at least rake the bunkers. All the bunkers were in terrible condition. Its a premium course but having bunkers like that is a huge bummer.

Played today and I doubt I will be going back. They are really enforcing the 7-9 AM no Sr rate and they are allowing too many 5 somesomes of Seniors who walk from opening to 7 AM. We had an 8AM time and it took almost 5 hours to play. To many of the seniors IMO are playing from the back tees on a course that they should be playing the whites and maybe even the reds. And then stopping after 9 and getting food/beverage and slowing things up even further. I certainly understand walking but abhor 5 somesomes walking. And to make matters worse there is no marshal on the course. 4 or 4.5 hours should be reasonable early AM but it seems we have a culture of golfers today, unlike years ago who could give a you know what about anyone else. Course is playable from tee to green but not at the pace one is facing. I would just say play this course at your own peril and if you can get the first or second tee time you are in good shape. This one will not be on my courses to play in the future. I also did not like the customer service in the pro shop either. Seemed like he was doing you a favor by letting you play? This has to be one of the worse LA County run courses.

Made it out to Ojai Valley Inn for the first time today. Tee time was at 7:20, rode as a single and had pretty much the entire course to myself, finished in under 3 hrs. I caught the twosome ahead of me on hole 16. This place is a really fun and exciting experience, and I cannot wait to go back. As of right now the course is healing from the rains and from the recently punched greens. I would say they are about 80% back to normal but still need some time to be perfect. The water caused some flooding and at times I was in the mud, particularly on hole 13. The rest of the course is in phenomenal shape, a few tee boxes were being worked on but not the ones I was playing from. Just about every hole I saw a maintenance worker, 1 month from now this place is going to absolutely perfect.

For those who have never played it. The Ojai Valley Inn GC is a true turn back in history. Built in 1923, this course and facility turned into an army training ground during WWII. It returned to golf after the war and ever since has attracted families and golfers alike who are looking for a special experience. Much like a meal at a classic old restaurant, this classic golf experience should be on everyones bucket list. It is a par 70, 6292 yard but feels much larger as you often don't see the other holes. The views are stunning at times, especially the "lost holes". There are some long par 3's and some short par 5's. The carts have GPS and are brand new. The practice facility is very nice and a large putting green with undulation and several holes. If I were staying here I would spend some serious time practicing on the range. Yes this course is a resort course, and it feels that way, as you really do struggle to find your way to the actual course.

Played 4/9. Afternoon starting time in the dynamically priced twilight tee time slots. Excellent value at $42 w/cart. Weather was mild sunny with light winds.
Just ahead of the high school matches and far enough behind the higher priced times. Didn't catch the group in front of us until the 14th and only had to pause a few times coming home. We did split from the 2-some who joined us on 1 at the turn. Helped POP to 4.25 hrs
Not the usual Fairfield weather in the Pm as the infamous "delta breeze" (25mph + / -) they can regularly get was not blowing. Commented to the marshal if it was this nice all the time it'd be great. Summers can get hot here as locals know, and the wind coming in from SF bay actually helps bring cooling relief for the Sacramento area.
The website boasts CC feel and the largest greens in NorCal. Both are spot on.
Greens in great shape rolling at country club level and condition. Tough par threes 8th had a few too many un-repaired ball marks. I fixed many. Both of us 3 jacked that one.
Distance control and accuracy with the irons helps the score big time here.
Fairways great shape most wide enough to avoid the rough which is penal in most areas even just a foot off the short grass. Bunkers fine sand good coverage.
Other reports from fall 2023 consistent with the conditions now.
The wet spring season had the greens keeper decide to not aerate them until fall.
So it's go time conditions here and will return again soon!

I'd say get out there before they aerate the greens! Places in super good shape there is still a few areas that are still waterlogged from the recent rains but negligible compared to what they were two weeks ago fairways tee boxes everything's nice get out there stretch your legs try out some new clubs, get some good practice in was a beautiful day today, winds in the afternoon were up and added a nice challenge. Go Play!!

Played mid morning today and had a great 3.5 H POP. Course is in very nice shape, but the bunkers are inconsistent all on 18 holes. Tee boxes are fine. Fairways lush with good lies/rollout. Rough is playable except for several holes on the bank 9 (12, 13, 14) which is deep if you miss the fairway/# 13 green. Greens are very nice with speed of 9/10 but they are aerating next Mon/Tues so go now and not next week if you plan on playing. Excellent customer service in the shop, cart crew (Rich) and the grounds crew.

Rode the blues this morning 4/8/24 at the GK/Golfmoose event with John, Mark and Marc. We really enjoyed our round lots of laughs and great shots. We had a consistent 15-18mph swirling wind which is common for afternoon golf in Simi Valley. Beautiful temps today in the mid 70s.

My 4th time here and conditions were very good with ample semi-lush fairways[8/10], nice level teeing grounds with only some divot damage on the par 3s[7.5/10], very thick and juicy lush rough[8.5/10], medium paced greens that were semi receptive and rolled slower than our group expected[7.5/10]. Was in 2 greenside bunkers and two Fairway bunkers that had ample grainy sand[7/10].

Fairly tough layout 135 slope with some narrow undulating greens, many red staked penalty areas and some afternoon wind to negotiate. To me I love the back nine here especially holes 10,11, 15,16 and 18.

Highly recommended!

The course was renovated with entirely new fairways and bunker treatment. It is now acclaimed to be the best golf course in San Diego. If you can get invited, a must play.

Played Sunday 4/8 , 830 shotgun, 5 1/2 hr round. Course punched 3 weeks ago, and still pretty bad. I think they need more sanding, as there were too many holes unfilled. At this pace, they are probably at least 3 more weeks away to be playable, but bumpy. The rest of the course is in pretty good shape. Fun layout, not overly long, but demands some accuracy on most holes, with water, barrancas and penalizing fairway bunkers. The greens are huge and moderately undulating, and approaches require good club selection to have a chance. The bunker sand was replaced from the last time I played 5+ years ago, and they are in pretty good shape. It's a nice routing in better than average muni shape. Had a great time.
