Walked the blues today teeing off at 1150am with my buddy Matt joined by a nice couple that quit on 16. Our POP was 4 hrs 40 minutes under sunny skies and a swirling 20-25mph Santa Ana wind. Drives on 1,2,3,12,14,16,18 were fun to hit downwind where 5,9,10,11and 13 were straight in the teeth of the wind. Super friendly pro shop staff, nice grass range that we didn't have time to use today with a separate chipping area. Have not played here for a couple months and the course is still in great shape for early December/winter.

Greens were super quick today with the wind rolling close to a 12 stimp on downhillers and sidehillers. The Marshall were telling each group that the pin placement on 1 and 8 were automatic 2 putts...I could see it on 8 where they had the pin but not on hole 1. Anyway the greens were holding shots, rolling pure with little to no ball Mark damage. Rating these beauties a 9/10. You could look silly putting today if you did not know the course and did not take into account the wind and slick surfaces.

So impressed with the Fairways this late in the season. Mostly lush tight padded surfaces that contained some roll out and just a pleasure to hit irons off of. Rated 8/10

Tees all level and lush 8/10

Greenside rough beautiful 9/10, rough off the fairways rated 7/10.

Not in any bunkers.

Highly recommend this track

Walked the golds today 10/10/23 with my buddy Mark under beautiful weather mid 70s with a club wind. Teed off at 1:30pm behind a college tourney and finished just shy of 5 hours. Great friendly pro shop staff, cart girl and cart barn staff.

Greens were in awesome shape rolling around a 12 on the stimp. Very quick where you needed to be below the hole and have great touch on anything downhill or sidehill putting today. You could even be embarrassed/humbled like I was on hole 2 today knocking an uphill birdie putt 20 feet beyond the cup. Greens were holding irons nicely considering how quick they were when putting and chipping. Rated 8.5/10.

Fairways were in very good shape. Mostly all lush and great lies. Giving some roll. Just a pleasure to hit irons off of. Rated 8/10

Rough in between holes 15/16, left of 7,13 and 14 has been cut and makes playability better and improves POP. Regular cut rough just off the fairways was uniform, green and lush and in good shape. Rated 8/10.

Tees were super lush. Some tees were not level but you could always find a level spot if you hunted for it. Rated 7.5/10

Was not in any bunkers but they looked well stocked.

Great layout and views. The rains earlier in the year have really helped make this place lush even this late in the year. Looking forward to many more rounds out here. Highly recommended.

Walked the blues early afternoon today 10/2/23 with my buddy Matt joined by a nice twosome under temps in the low 70s with about a 10-15mph wind. Our POP was around 4 hrs 40 minutes. Lots of golfers out today, great to see this on my home course.

After playing so many rounds here I can honestly say even though the bones are set up for a bump and run links course the beautiful lush conditions would say otherwise. This is the lushest I have ever seen the fairways and the sofest and slowest I have ever seen the greens and big aprons/fringes!. Just couldn't get ourselves as a group to hit putts and chips hard enough today. The fairways are also in lush beautiful shape but without roll the course is playing longer.

Greens were soft and really holding shots nicely. They are medium to slow pace for Rustics standards and probably slower today as they were recently punched almost 4 weeks ago. No sign of any maintenance holes or issues so can probably take the yellow maintenance alert down. Rated 7/10

Fairways are an 8.5/10. Probably the nicest I have ever seen them. Super lush, hardly any roll and a pleasure to hit from.

Tees were level and in good shape. Rated 7.5/10

Rough just off the greens in great shape 9/10. Rough just off the fairways good shape 8/10. Rough closer to the cartpaths get thinner and less consistent.

Was in one bunker that was in decent shape.

Staff super friendly. They just completed renovation on the range. Check the wind beforehand. Course is very lush and in good shape. Great layout. Highly recommended.

Had a playing lesson observing with a student today 9/30/23. POP riding was 4 hrs 25 minutes. Very friendly staff in the proshop.

There is talk and a big sign by the 11th tee discussing the possibility of putting in homes, a walking dog park and reducing the layout to just 12 holes. Would be sad to see this happen as even though scruffy around the edges[get to that in a sec] the bones/layout is fun and the course with its cooler Camarillo climate and Mountain backdrop views are cool. One of the courses that has alot of memories for me growing up not to far from here.

Will start with the good which were the greens. Not to many ballmarks and like the previous reviewer stated the greens were in very good shape rolling medium to quick as far as pace. Rated 8/10.

The tees have always needed a leveling and today was no different. You can usually hunt for a level spot but here it could be tough to find. Ample coverage with minor divot damage on the par 3s. Rated 5/10

The fairways were a mixed bag. You could have a great lie, thicker crabgrass or a thiiner area all within a couple feet from each other. Rated 5.5/10

The bunkers looked crusty and thin but stepping in them and hitting some practice shots with my student they contained just enough of a sand base underneath to not have the club bounce. Rated 6/10

Rough like the fairways were inconsistent as far as fullness was concerned. There were sometimes nice areas in the rough, weeds, wet ground, etc. Rated 5.5/10

For us today being able to go out as a twosome and me being able to teach and observe it fit the bill perfectly. Not a course I can recommend but the staff is so nice, the greens are in good shape and the layout is fun I would pull the trigger for a twilight or super twilight rate.

Walked the Orange tees this afternoon 9/25 1st twilight group out joined by 3 singles. Perfect weather around 80 degrees for a high and about 1 club of wind. One of the singles left on hole 9 and we finished with a nice pace of play just over 4 hrs. Very friendly staff in the proshop as usual.

Fairways were in very good shape. Mainly all lush, ball sitting up perfectly. Uniform and cut perfectly. Rated 8.5/10

Greens were in good shape. Medium speed, holding irons very nicely. Soft on approach shots. Our group fixed our ballmarks and at least an extra 3 per hole. Wish everyone would fix their own. They have huge aprons here that were in good shape. Rated 7.5/10

Most tees were level and all tees were lush and in good shape. Rated 7.5/10

'Was in Fairway bunker on 4 and greenside bunker on 4 as well that had perfectly raked nice texture sand. Rated 8/10

Rough was lush just off the Fairways and in good shape. Stray further than the rough and could be whispy, deep stuff or hardpan areas. Rated 8/10.

For 28 bucks walking twilight during the week it's the best bargain in the county. Highly recommended

Rode the blues this morning 8/28/23 with buddies John, Ron and Mark under very hot conditions 95 degrees with about a club wind as part of the GK/Golfmoose outing. We had I believe a 124 players today so considering that the round moved decently.

Great challenging layout with US amateur qualifying and LPGA roots. Definitely worth checking out a membership here if you can swing it.

All staff very friendly giving us an extra cooler and lending out a Putter to my riding partner who forgot his. Carts were comfortable but no GPS.

Like most courses the rains have really made the fairways, fringes, tees and rough green. I'm talking PGA tour green. Very asthetically pleasing to the eye.

The greens were very firm putting but held shots nicely with compression and spin. Perfect combination. Many of the complexes are undulating and challenging. Probably rolling around an 11 on the stimp. Rated 8.5/10

Fairways were very lush, very green and in great shape. Rated 9/10

Rough was also a 9/10 green, lush and grabby. A good challenge.

Was in one greenside bunker that had soft beach sand and was raked in great shape. Rated 8/10

Tees all level, lush and in great shape as well 9/10.

Challenging Parkland layout with some holes that are visually tighter like 1,2, 11 and then some holes to let it rip. Plenty of doglegs, red penalty areas and challenging fairway and greenside bunkers to keep the best players on their toes. Challenging green complexes where you need to be hitting girs or chipping can be difficult here.

Any chance you have to jump on it highly recommended this place. It's in fabulous shape right now ...rating probably close to a 9

Walked the Orange tees this afternoon 8/21/23 at 1pm with my buddy RGM2525 in 3 hrs 30 minutes playing through one group on number 7 under humid Maui like conditions around 77 degrees. Always a pleasure playing with Ron we had 5 birdies and numerous other great looks today that did not drop.

Course conditions were really solid today with very lush Fairways , very lush tees and sticky rough and greens that were slower than normal due to the overnight downpour. Really commend this place only saw 2 puddles in a couple bunkers. The Gk event participants are in for great conditions in a couple of weeks.

Greens were around a 9 on the stimp meter. Very soft and receptive holding irons very nicely. Couple of the greens had an abordement amount of old ballmarks that looked worse than they played.. Green rating 7.5/10.

Some of the lusher high quality Fairways you will see in VC County. Beautiful perfect lies and very little roll on even well struck drives. Rated 9/10.

Tees were very lush, mostly all level and in very good shape. So lush you need a long tee for the driver for sure. Rated 8.5/10

Rough in very good shape up to 3 inches, grabby lush and stunningly beautiful. Rated 8.5/10.

Was in one greenside bunker on 17 that was wet on top but had plenty of beach sand underneath. Rated 8/10.

For 28 bucks walking twilight during the week one of the best deals around. Highly recommended.

Walked the golds this afternoon 8/7/23 with my buddy Mark. 75 degrees with about a 10mph wind. Perfect conditions. We were joined by a couple guys who had never played here before. Course was packed and our POP was around 5 hrs. Vern in the proshop is very friendly as well as the cart gal who made multiple rounds.

There have been some slight changes since my last round out here around 9 weeks ago. Biggest change was they mowed down the rough between 15/16 as well as right of 17 and just left of 14 which improves pace of play and playability/fun factor. Also caught a couple mud balls in the fairways where I literally got 1 yd of roll.

Speaking of the fairways they were very good in the 8/10 range mostly lush, wet in some sections and good lies throughout.

The greens were quicker putting and our group thought slower/grabby on chips uphill. Can't be above the pin putting is the common theme here. Rated 8/10.

The tee boxes were the star of the show coming in at a 9/10 rating super lush and level and in great shape.

Rough just off the fairways was green, mostly medium to thick texture for length and in good shape. Rated 8/10

Was not in any bunkers but playing partner described them as hardpan wet bunkers which is disappointing for how much they charge here.

Still one of my favorite socal layouts. Challenging, great ocean holes, great conditions besides the bunkers. Highly recommended.

Walked the blues this afternoon twilight with my buddies Nick and Matt under partly sunny skies and the normal 10 to 15mph Ventura afternoon breeze. Pop was 5 hrs behind a busy course. Great times as always with friendly staff, great practice areas, cooler temps and overall solid conditions on a solid course.

Greens were very receptive, very soft and rolling very true. Many undulations to these greens and we had some nice challenging pin locations today. Rating the greens an 8/10

Fairways were mainly lush, nicely cushioned and a pleasure to play from. Rated 8/10

Tees were very lush, level and in very good shape. Rated 8.5/10

Not in any bunkers but they looked to be all raked with their usual nice beach sand base to them.

Rough just off the fairways was green, uniform and lush. Great shape. Just outside of the cart paths thick vegetation. Rated 8.5/10.

Highly recommend this track.

Rode the blues this morning 7/17/23 as a part of the Golfmoose/GK event joined by Todd, Mark and Kevin. We enjoyed a relaxed pace of play with some minor waiting from the group in front, i think we finished in like 4 hrs 40 minutes. It was 102 degrees today with a 12-15mph breeze. Our cart had some issues engaging on the back nine. No GPS on the carts. No beverage cart today but snack bar was open and there were water stations on the course. Nice big driving range on mats and very nice putting green. If I lived up this way I would probably do a membership here as I just love the layout. Playing partner stated that many of the holes here resemble some of Riveria CC.

2nd time on this layout, last time was two years ago. Some of the sight lines are clearer on the front as they have lost some trees. Very strategic course from the blacks or blues as they have many fairway bunkers in the 250 to 280 range that come into play sometimes placed right in the middle of the fairway. Very well designed course. Most holes other than number 2 bend to the right. Parkland style course that is tree-lined but would not say target. Couple par 4s on the front have water features to avoid off the tee. 3 of the 4 par 3s have water to avoid either short or to the right. Beautiful par 3s here!! Lots of history here with Billy Mayfair beating Tiger Woods in a playoff in 1998 at the Nissan Open.

Greens ran smooth and were very soft on high Irons approaches. Greens varied in size and depth depending on the hole. For instance the 1st green is very narrow from left to right. All green complexes had major potato chip swales that can be challenging to read. Overall rating the greens an 8/10.

Most fairway lies were lush. Some fairway/chipping portions closer to the greens/fringe were tighter and hole punched in some areas. Overall fairway turf rating 7.5/10.

Tees were level, lush and firm. Rated 7.5/10

Was not in any greenside bunkers but was in a few fairway bunkers which had just the right amount of sand in them. Rated 8/10.

Rough was around 2 inches mainly uniform and just off the fairways easy to play from. Rated 7.5/10.

If you have the chance don't pass this course up.

Rode the gold tees this morning with buddies John, Ron and Mark as a part of the gk/golfmoose event teeing off just after 11am on a 12-15mph swirling wind day which is pretty typical for this area. Just a beautiful day for golf with a high around 80 degrees. My 3rd time playing here and the conditions were even better this time around.

Practice facilities include a seperate chipping area above the 18th green, two very nicely manicured putting greens and a nice sized range on soft artificial mats. All staff encountered were friendly. No GPS on the carts but they were very comfortable.

The course plays around homes on some holes that are not in play and a natural wash. Plenty of greenside bunkers, red penalty areas and nicely sloped firm greens to warrant a great challenging private course. Former lpga and senior tour stops.

Fairways were in very nice shape, mainly lush and green with your ball sitting up nicely. Rated 8/10

Tees mainly level and lush and in good shape. Rated 7.5/10

Not in any bunkers but they looked well raked and maintained

Greens were very soft on approach, quicker on chips and maybe rolling a 10.5 on putts. Very true rolls. Very tricky reads as there is more break around the hole than you think. Rated 8.5/10

Rough was lush, thick and juicy. Really in great shape. Rated 8.5/10.

I would consider a membership here and recommend a chance to jump on it if you get an opportunity to play it.

Rode the blues this morning with my buddy Mark joined by 2 nice singles. Pop was 4 hrs 40 minutes on a packed course. We had a 1.5 club swirling wind for most of the day under sunny skies with temps in the low 70s.

Rustic just finished their range renovations and the turf on the range your hitting into looks tour quality. They did a beautiful job. New target flags and they had players hitting off grass. Chipping green grass super lush and putting green as usual in great shape.

The winter rains have made everything so lush and green. Great fairway conditions 8/10.

Greens recently received maintenance almost 4 weeks ago according to an employee and they are very healthy, shining with little to no ball mark damage. Uphillers are slower than normal but downhillers can still get away from you. Rated 8/10

Greenside rough 9/10 very thick and lush

Fairway rough is decent in the 7/10 range just off the fairways

Not in any bunkers today.

Tees were level, lush and in great shape 8/10

Everything from the challenge to great conditions and layout are all the reason this gets recognized by golf magazine and others as a must play. Always recommending it to everyone I know.
