Went off at 10:36 with a light but constant rain that picked up intensity then backed off from the 4th hole through the 13th green when it started coming in sideways for 20 minutes or so. The rain, the rain gear and the thick, lush rough made for some tough sledding if you missed the fairway.
Tees: mostly very good, par 3’s a bit chewed up as per usual
Fairways: not mown as tight on the front nine, better on the back
Rough: thick, nasty and wet
Bunkers: pretty consistent and playable although soaked
Greens: a bit slow due to the moisture but could still get away from you if you weren’t paying attention
POP: just under 5 hours and we hardly waited at all, is was just a slog through some of the holes
Such a fun, challenging course even in the rain, recommended for sure

Got lucky and snagged a single spot at 8:30 after lots of looking. I thought the course was in great shape. I played well, for the most part, so that always puts a different light on things, everything was just peachy. Greens rolled well, tees were level, fairways nice, bunkers good, rough thick and nasty.

First off twilight finished in just over 4 hours so POP was good what was not were the greens. There seems to be a fungus or results of eradicating a fungus eating up the greens. It seemed worse as we went along. The greens accept good shots, actually roll decent and fast in places (probably due to lack of grass) but not consistent. Last I played greens were good and fairways were a bit off, this time the opposite. Bunkers nice, rough fairly filled in, oh yeah tee boxes were also horrible chewed up and uneven.
I won’t be back out there for at least a month.

Played the Blue/White combo that put a lot of fairway woods and long irons in my hands. Course was a in very good condition tees, fairways, bunkers and greens in the best condition I can remember ever playing out there. Greens were tricky and pretty quick. Bunkers well maintained with good sand. Fairways and rough in good shape. Fun play!

Went out spur of the moment around noon September 9th and found the course in possibly the worst condition I have ever seen it in. The heat has taken its toll
Tee boxes: decent, mostly level
Fairways: very patchy with bare spots, dry burnt out areas and some over watered wet areas (maybe broken water lines?)
Rough: like the fairways inconsistent
Bunkers: highlight of the course, mostly firm but smooth and playable.
Greens: lots of ball marks, some damage around the fringes, rolling slower than normal
Pop: good at just over 4 hours
They will be doing fall maintenance on the 14th and 15th so stay clear until sometime in October.

Again as Steve and Mark said it is difficult to give an overall rating due to the stark differences in the two nines we played. If I could individually rate the nines South would get an 8 and East would be more around 6. So as I can’t I split the difference. The bunkers were the only thing consistent between the nines, although I found hard spots and soft fluffy spots within the same bunkers (never good when you have to play more than one shot from the same bunker). Another thing about the bunkers was the firm sand lead to members of my group (specifically Steve and myself) finding balls had run to the edge of the bunker and were now tight to the raise lip of the bunker making the next shot near to impossible. South a treat. East more of a slog. The South may have played a bit longer due to more wind exposure coupled with long par 4 holes directly into that wind. The East had more hard pan making the ball roll out more. Greens had some inconsistencies as well as far as accepting in coming shots. Some soft leaving big ball marks others hard leaving little evidence where a shot first landed.
Overall a place that probably fills a nice niche spot for those who aren’t members of the higher end clubs down the road.

I have enjoyed this course for decades and now with the renovations I like it even more! Great old school course with some unique holes made even better with the upgrades. Others have commented on how they are reminded of other courses by many of the holes. For me, having played here so long, I was often reminded of San Vicente when I played those courses! Lol!
Good to great condition all around with the greens and bunkering standing out.

Got a 2:20 time got moved up to 2, finished around 7:30.
Tees: level and spacious
Rough: BRUTAL
Fairways: good lies, decent roll out
Bunkers: inconsistent some fluffy some firm sometimes on the same bunker
Greens: so-so medium fast with a bit of bump to them
POP: BRUTAL! Everyone who rarely golfs was there hitting from the tips, ON EVERY HOLE. I wouldn’t paddle out at Pipeline after the pipe masters, they had no place hitting from the tips!

12:45 tee time with Sal the Cottonwood kid, went off a bit early and finished in just under 4 hours. Found the course in surprisingly nice condition. Old school course and set up by the small airport.
Tees: mostly flat with full coverage
Fairways: very nice to hit from and looked good as well, LOTS of roll out, but still lush and green
Rough: nice length and fairly consistent, definitely effected shot selection
Bunkers: pretty consistent, not soft, not firm just playable
Greens: very nice, with basically medium-fast speed but tricky to read speed consistently due to tricky slopes and grain, I made some putts I missed some putts
Customer service: just the way I like it, they check you in send you off and leave you alone. Snack cart came by a few times.
Overall: a very pleasant, basic golf experience with really good muni condition. I’ve paid far more for far less!

Played this morning 7:40 time, finished at 12:30. Course is in good shape overall with the greens playing hard, medium-fast with a bit of noticeable bumps throwing some putts off line. Hard, fast and bumpy makes making putts tough. They were cutting the rough but only slightly, it was still deep and nasty just about everywhere. Bunkers are inconsistent, but all playable. Always a good time there, can’t wait for the US Open, and the for it to be over and in our rear view mirrors!

Off at 10:50 finished just after 4, didn’t seem that long but I just love being there. Course was in very good condition with the inconsistencies of the bunkers being the low point.
Tees: level and in great shape
Fairways: smooth and wall to wall coverage, maybe could use a mow for a bit more run out, but great to hit from
Rough: shaggy and penal. I had a couple that full bore PW only got me 20 yards
Bunkers: fairway bunkers were mostly firm, I was in a couple. Green side bunkers were hard in spots and deep soft in others.
Greens: smooth, fast and good shots can back up
POP: was slow today
Customer service: good, snack cart came by a few times
US Open course $63 to walk? All day everyday LOVE IT!!!!

Played 5/10 at 12:30 with Sal, Jon and the one and only DCon! Course was in good muni shape. All around decent and playable. No padding in the cups or any other Covid contraption, but a sign in the pro shop said to not pull any pins. There were rakes in the bunkers which was a first in California for me since the epidemic started.
Tees: level mostly decent
Fairways: mostly covered with good lies running out some
Rough: none really
Greens: mostly smooth running a bit slow except the downhill down grain puts that could get away from you. Some of the green surrounds had patches and splices and inlaid sod of what looked like differing grass varieties?
POP: good at just over 4 hours
Customer service: good all around, bathrooms on front and back 9’s. Snack bar by clubhouse and a place to sit down and have a snack and a good drink.
Views are nice, course is flat and walkable. Recommended, IF, and that’s a big IF, you can secure a tee time on course that was always full and even more so now.
