6/27 early am round $63 with tax to ride and older gas powered cart. Had a 715 tee time and got there a bit early with the womens club set to tee off around 7. There was a 2some goi ng ouit ahead and I tried to invite myself along but they showed no interest and since the ladies were not lined up and waiting I just followed the 2 guys for 3hr POP.
The course has probably seen better days as it has a rather shabby look. Cart paths are asphalt composit and rough to traverse. Carts are older with no GPS.
Late June in Sedona brings nearly summer conditions to the course, highs in the mid 90s with a usual hot dry wind later in the day makes for difficult course maintainence. Add to that the need to conserve water means prioitizing its allocation. !st is the green complexes so the greens were quite good and areas with in 20 yds or so were generally lush. Greens were moderately firm rolled at medium medium fast speed and were gennerally smooth.
The closer to center line of the fairways the better the condition with good lies and just an occasional thin spot. So the middle 20-30 yds was the A zone the next 10 or so was iffy leading to the left to die rough which sometimes gave an ok to iffy lie. Beyond the 1st patch of rough was more of a waste land with sandy dirt and unidentified vegitation and beyond the there were often ground squirrel villages.
Tees were ok but on the dry side. I can not remember any thing about the bunkers, not even sure if there were any. Heat must have caused some amnesia.
Even with the less than country club conditions it is a fun layout with decent variety. A couple of holes had blind tee shots with hidden peril caling for layups 1 of which had a yardage sign to indicte distance to touble and the other 1 may have but in ant case I mised it but not the trouble.
Staff was friendly and all in all had an enjoyable outing.

6/22 using teeoff deal time with discount $35 410 POP. Very pleasant 715 start time warmingas the sun peaked thru with a bit of a breeze the last few holes. Conditions are quite good with the fairways being lush and full with about 5% patchy areas. Lies were excellent. Couirse needs to start encouraging the filling of divots before it gets out of hand. Rough cut to about 1-2 inches and very healthy and sticky; Played harder than it looked when the ball nestled down. Most tees are in good shape except for a couple that had some slope and a few had some divot damage. Bunkers were groomed , generally with adequate sand.
Greens were really good smooth medium fast and still receptive for full shots. Chips and pitches could run out rather quickly.
Overall conditions are near thir prime and getting better as time goes by and areas of the ccourse continuing to heal from rpairs and renovation...Fun track but challenging without that much length

6/12 910 tee time finishing with 410 POP on a misting cool start that turned to dryish by the 2nd holebut leaving wet grass and damp sand well into the back 9 as a freshening breeze helped to remove the moisture but added 1/2 club or so.
Fairways have really good cover and aside from being a little wet in places provided good lies. Firm enough for some roll but soft under the grass abd as a result there were several significant divots left ubattended. Rough varied from 1-2 inches definitely impeding forward roll and depending on how the ball settled could be punitive.
Most tees ok lush and level but the par 3s were chewed up as it appeared the markers ewre not moved frequently enough and with a lack of attention to the divots even with mix available except on 11 they looked rather sad. Bunkers had adequate sand.
Greens were fairly soft so very receptive but also had many pitch marks with some unrepaired and some poorly attended to. Speed started medium and increased to medium fast. Mostly smooth with some deviation due to the softness.
Easy check in and welcoming friendly staff.

6/1 712 using teeoff dealtime $41 with a 330 POP with consistent waiting on the 3some ahead and being closely followed by a 3some. !st time playing the new revised layout which now starts on the otherside of the tunnel on what was recently #9 and previously #10. Staring this route will make sense when the club house is open as the practice areas and staging will be adjacent.
#! has a new er tee box open less than a year since it opened and if the markers are near the back adds about 10 yds in length. #2 is now back its oriuginal par 5 design at 523 yds and narrow with ob left and penalty area rt for the entire length of the hole. #3-9 remain as they have been tho 7 (old 16) has suffered from the left hillside collapsing so about 1/2 the fairwqy is gur.
#10 par 3 has a new tee box and now plays at 200 from the blues. 11 has a new tee box adding about 30nyds as does 12 adding about 20. 13 and 14 are basically unchanged. 15 is a new hole layed out in the canyon withb 4 sets of tees playing about 300 nfrom the tips. 16 and 17 are unchanged. 18 is now a par 4 similar in design to the original 39 but about 50 yds shorter. Now is set as a par 70 69.0/125.
Fairways have some areas that are in excellent condition with some patches that are still in recovery mode. 80 % really good lies and the rest from marginal to 1 or 2 sketchy. Rough 1-2 inches but very thick what lands there stayes there and could present a challenge to advance.
Bunkers looked ok as I only observed them in passing today. Tees mostly ok with the newest being really nice.
Greens had evidence of recent verticut and surprisingly showed the pattern from past plugging but were mostly smooth but early on were slower than expected.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Overall the majority of the work on the course is complete with the exception of some irrigation lines and some draiage projects still work in progress.
Not the country club/troon experience but a good test of your game with overall improvement in conditions.

5/24 using teeoff deal time with 15% off for $29. 740 tee time and due to workers on the course was held to that start but in reality was 1st off. Sent out with a 2some, nice guys but fairly new to the game and quite slow so not wanting tohold up the course and not wanting a 4 1/2 hour round I excused myself and went ahead for a 3 hr POP. Had a couple of singles a hole or so behind but never really had any pressure.
Overall condition of the course is scruffy. Fairways did not appear to have been overseeded so they were very inconsistent also with evidence of water damage from the past heavy rains. About 50% ok to good lies 30% fair and the rest could have been GUR. Rough was mixed often thick with a variety of vegitation and due to winds there was often an abudance of tree debris making find wayward balls difficult. All in all I would call the rough penal.
Bunkers are numerous and well placed to guard many approaches. Sand is fine and well compacted and was freshly groomed.
Tees are ok with a couple quite thin an 1 I noticed to be slanted.
Layout is interesting as the course winds thru homes but provides a nice parklike setting. 6, 7, and 8 have a similar look but otherwise there is nice variety. Water is present on several holes and does come into play on most of them where it is present. #10 fairway got fl;ooded and has a lot of bare areas and some yahoo used the green as a testing ground for donuts.
Greens overall played much better than they looked as the variety of grass provides a very thin cover. Speed a little under medium fast ith some occasional bumpiness.
Staff was very friendly, provided a yardage book and spent time sharing about changes and and directions to be able to look for the signs and routing.

5/22 740 tee time using golf moose $46 was originally booked to join a 3some but upon arrival was sent out as a single. Hitting bay pitching area and putting green available so got an ok warm up and went out on time, catching the groups ahead after a few holes but just slowed down hitting na few extra shots and chipping to pass the time. Did not have anyone behind until 17 so had a leisurely round in 320 POP. Lot of the members have thier own carts and ride single so there isnt much dilly dallying.
1st time back in 10 plus years as at one time had a smalln weekend place here and played quite frequently. Routing has remained the same with a couple of new teeboxes and cart paths that are more efficient. Played the golds par 71 68.7/118 for the 1st time and overall enjoyed playing forward, kinda nice to not have to hit mostly 3 woods as my second and still being left with 30-50 yds pitches.
Fairways are lush cut fairly tight but the quality is so good that there was good cushion and still allowed extra roll. Rough is cut to about an inch so very playable to hit from but penal in the sense that tere is virtually no roll.
Tees are really good. Bumkers have ample sand nicely compacted and consistent.
Greens are mostly smooth medium medium fast speed with some seasonal poa. From past experience I rememberd that every thing breaks away from Mt San Jacinto and it remains even more true now than before. Had a couple of misses on shorter putts and put a ball in the water on 2 for a double and had a brain freeze double on 5 so I mostly thought I was on my way to my routine 88ish to 90 something. However threw in a few pars and had one of my best back 9s here to challenge shooting my age being 1 over on the back going into 17 when i managed to bumble boger 17 and 18 to finish with an 82 but believe me I was thrilled to strike the ball as well as I did today.
Weather was just about perfect with a slight breeze. Staff was very friendly and welcoming

5/10 played with the mens club as a guest 4 1/2 hr POP with not much waiting as the group ahead was a quick 3some. Overall good conditions with fairways having good cover and providing good lies. Mowed rather tight but with the softnes of the ground and the healthy root structure of the grass got good roll and nice cushion. Rough cut rather short but even then it was penal as there was no roll out and could be quite sticky especially on the slopes around the greens requiring a steeper approach and continued speed thru the swing which for me didn't happen often enough. Also of note the fairways are generally flat but shots out of the rough also often have sloped stances. Best advice avoid the rough.
Tees are in good shape. Bunkers are somewhat inconsistent as some were wet and compacted with a thin top layer while some had the more fluffy variety of sand. Most bunkers had only 1 rake usually at the end away from my ball and I noticed that often discouraged players from walking a few more feet to get the rake and use it.
Greens are almost fully healed with only visual evidence of prior punches. Rolling medium fast and mostly smooth.
Friendly staff, nice practice area for chipping and good putting green.

4/28 725 time using teeoff deal time $37 with discount got off a few min early as a single following a 4some and being followed at a distance by another 4some so had a chance to practice some chips and putts but still had a very reasonable POP of 345.
Fairways are mostly in good shape with some overly wet areas but not generally a factor. Rough is longer now and depending on the type of grass the ball would sit up on top of an inch or 2 of cushion or could sink in and be buried. Also balls hit into the rough would come to a quick stop.
Tees are mixed as the new/newer tees are in nice shape while the old tee boxes are often not level and often worn. There are still 2 new boxes that are almost ready to open and the new hole in the canyon old 6 new 15 when the 9s are flipped around 5/18 will be in play.
All the bunkers have ample sand and were in good condition. However a few have different sand which is thick but not well compacted so for me a lot more difficult to judge.
Greens were way better than I expected 2 weeks post areation, rolling quite smoothly at medium/medium fast speed. Greens are very healthy with a tight turf and virtually no evidence of punching. BTW the practice green and chipping area is now open and is a very nice addition. The new club house has a hopeful opening date of 6/1.

4/10 overcast but comfortable a little breezy on the back but overall quite plesant with a 410 POP. Overall course is in process of recovery from maintainence and is still bout 2 weeks away Fairways had ok lies even with the prior de-thatching. 1Rough was minimal except on slopes and could be challenging. Bunkers are well filled and the sand has compcted more to be more consistent. Tees were ok.
Greens were faster than expected with some occasional slight bumpiness.
As always staff was friendly and welcoming.

3/27 100 teeoff deal time $39 with discount, POP 345 starting off slow as the 2some we were paired with was quite deliberate and after seeing we were more than a hole behind after 4 we split and despite our best effort never caught any groups ahead. Course is still recovering from all the rain and some areas were not routinely mowed so did have a few search and recovery events that slowed us down. Fairways were inconsistent so lies were a coin toss. Rough was about 2 inches plus. Tees were ok with the newer ones being in good shape. Bunkers had ample sand.
Greens were receptive for full shots but surprisingly quick for putts and chips.Played much better than they looked as they were blotchy in color. Pin placements were more toward perimeters providing an extra challenge. Areation is scheduled for 4/10 and 11.
Progress is being made toward completing the reno with plans for grand reveal latter part of april.

2/13 played 2x last week with POP315-330 slightly breezy coolish at times. Course continues to have reno projects withi several new tees. Plan is for grand reveal in April with new club house and routing. Fairways have some really good areas and then some thin and some overly wet areas. Most lies were better than adequate. Rough cut down to about 2 inches long enough to slow the roll but easy to advance.
Tees vary with the new ones quite good while others have some issues. Bunkers have plenty of sand and are well maintained.
Greens arer quick firm for chips but quite receptive for well struck approaches.Good to see some variety in pin placements as some were moved laterally in the red white blue zones making for some tricky reads.
Waiting for the finishing touches as its been quite a project. Friendly staff.

2/2 using black friday promotion voucher $100 2some after 11am with a small bucket on a very pleasant SC day. Very busy but got out right at 1210 with POP about 425 with limited waiting and CPO on 1/2 the holes. Fairways were mostly on the thin side but still provided ok lies. Rough was inconsistent with some thicker juicy areas that were pretty grabby if the ball had settled down. Lot of unfilled divots more so on the CPO holes.
Tees were in good shape. Bunkers had well groomed deep and heavy sand that played tough.
Greens were really good, receptive and consistent at medium fast speeds. A few pins were in marginal places as slight misses were overly punished especially 17 placed to the rt front where from the left or above the hole there was an extra 6 feet of roll and from the left a pronounced u turn at the hole. Overall knowing where the ocean was really mattered. Also a temp green on 16 as there is bunker work in progress
Staff friiendly and welcoming.
