Played here on Tuesday 1/26/16, with a 9:00 tee time, $39 course special...cart plus breakfast, two drinks and lunch. so that was good. I was a single and was paired up with two other singles. POP was good. We finished in 4hrs 30 mins and that was playing behind two pretty slow groups.
I haven't been here in over a year even though it is one of my favorite courses.
On this day the course was in typical winter dormant condition. The middle of the fairways are a mixture of brown and green grass but the edges and rough were a mixture of hardpan, tufts of green grass and dormant brown grass. It is really disapointing to hit a nice drive to the right or left side of the fairway and find your ball lying on hardpan between two tufts of grass!
Tee boxes were in great shape.
Bunker sand was good and plentiful.
Greens were excellent! Well maintained with very few ballmarks, medium to fast speed. The surrounding mountains along with the subtle undulations make it fun trying to read putts.
Water is in play on a few holes also, which I always enjoy.
Still one of my favorite tracks.

Played here on Sat. 1/16. Our fivesome teed off at 8:20 and finished at 12:50, 4:30 mins, which was great POP. The fairways were winter dormant of course but there were also a lot of hardpan and patchy grass areas. Normally Rio Hondo is in very good condition but on this day the course was in need on some TLC. I hope it's just a winter thing. I play here often and always enjoy the course. Tee boxes were fine, bunkers were in good shape and the greens were in very good shape. I really like playing here so I hope they improve the conditions in the coming weeks and months.

Got out as a single on Sunday 12/6 with a GN deal for $24 with cart but I walked. I normally play the back 9 here so I knew it would be crowded.
My tee time was 12:04 which on this course meant finishing before dark would be a challenge, but for $24 what the heck right.
I paired up with another single and a twosome, all very enjoyable to play golf with.

I must say I really was impressed with #1.
The greens on Sunday were very fast with lots of subtle undulation. The tee boxes were in good shape. The fairways were what you expect at this time of year, a dormant mixture of green and brown, cut low too, which allowed for some roll out, and easy to hit from. I wasn't in any bunkers so I can't comment on the sand.
I really like holes 8, 9 and 16 where water comes into play off the tee. Also a couple of short par 4's, like hole #5, that offer options.
The problem with Brookside is it is too busy!
After 4 1/2 hrs we had just finished 15 and the group in front of us was just about to tee off on 16. It was getting slower, colder and darker. I decided I was done at that point.
Really like the course but the rack rate to play early is too high $75
I'll play it again at the right time and price though. I enjoyed my 15 holes!

Hidden Valley is a very good golf course! Played here on Friday 10/16 using the GK special. 8:16 tee time. POP 4.5 hrs. It's all about the tee ball here. Put it in play and you can score well. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens were all in excellent condition! The greens were smooth, medium to quick, with enough undulation to make you pay attention, or else! There are many elevation changes also which means club selection is very important. If I wasn't 60 miles away this would be my home course.

Played "The Babe" on Wednesday 10/14. 10:40 tee time for $49, a very good rate for this course. POP 4.5 hrs. This course is always a challenge as there are a lot of tight tee shots. Accuracy is a must to score well here! I've played here many times and I was disappointed with how soft the course was this time. No drought here! It seemed over watered. Short approach shots would plug and if you try to bump and run a short pitch it would bump and stay. The greens were soft and slow as well so you wouldn't get any roll out or bounce when you hit them and putts had to be struck firmly. The bunkers were in great shape, the tee boxes were good as well. I'll play here again but I hope they firm it up.

Played here on Monday 10/12. Teed off at 7:30, walking foursome finished in 4hrs 15mins . This was my first time playing here and I really enjoyed it. Greens were really quick and it took a few holes to figure out how to go at them. I enjoyed the HUGE aprons around the greens also. Tee boxes were in good shape, fairways were in very good condition and the two bunkers I was in had very good sand. This course is pretty wide open with the main challenge being to stay out of the many many waste bunkers. $43.00 to walk on a Monday was a little steep to me. I'd like to play Rustic again if I can get a deal. Nice track!

Played here for the first time Saturday 9/05. It will not be my last time! This is a really nice track and it is in great shape tee to green. I booked a single time @8:12 and I wound up with three other singles. We were all walking too which was great. Tee boxes were level, fairways were green despite the current drought and the greens rolled true! $42 to walk on a Saturday was a great deal for this course. Nice practice facilities also. Stay away if you play slow, the marshall was out and keeping things moving!

We were in the area and decided to find a course and play 18. Google said this was the closest. $25 bucks with cart. Teed off at 3:35 finished at 6:45, 3hrs 10 mins, very good. Pretty wide open here but there were some tee shots that got your attention! Good greens, medium speed, with very few pitch marks. I won't be back because I live 60 miles away but Whispering Lakes was a fun time. My only complaint is the rough ride. This is by far the bumpiest course I've ever been on in a golf cart!! Everywhere, fairway, rough, dirt cart paths...bump bump bump!!. Worse than a New York cab ride. Hope my back is okay in the morning!

Wow! Played here on Saturday 5/30/2015 in a club tournament. I'd played here before and remember not being impressed with the course. Well that has changed!
The first thing I noticed was how green the course is. Really impressive. The layout here is nice, not overly challenging but respectable. The greens were in outstanding shape and were medium quick.
They have a very nice driving range, practice chipping area and bunker. The course is walkable (I did) but when the temps go up use a cart and enjoy yourself. I wish I didn't live 75 miles away or this course would be in my regular rotation.

Played Lakewood on Friday May 29th. Played as a single, walking rate of $29, with a twosome. I have always enjoyed playing here. It's close and normally in good shape. I was very disappointed with the course on this day. Fairways looked like they needed some TLC! LOTS of brown thin areas (drought?). Where is the rough? The greens were in very good shape however and the POP was 4 hours which was great. I'll be back later this month for SCGA 4 ball one day tournament. after that it may be awhile before I return.

Mountain Meadows. I either play really well here or really bad. The course was in excellent shape today, green everywhere! Fairways were lush and the greens were smooth and rolling medium quick. I was in a few bunkers today and the sand was good too. We played for $33 with a 12:30 tee time, which included a burger and 2 beers! Today it seemed like the ball was always below or above my feet. Our threesome finished in exactly 4 hours.

Nice course! played on 5/22/15 teeoff.com rate $71
This was a challenging round...sun, wind and rain! light steady rain for the last 6 or 7 holes. in addition to the elements, there were a number of tough holes on the course. I enjoyed the layout here and would love to play here again. without getting soaked!
