Played 3/15 twilight with some other GK'ers. Had a great time, short of Rancho Park my favorite LA City course. Fun layout with elevation changes, doglegs and a good mix of holes. Conditions were good for a busy muni course. Greens were the best part soft and fast with a true roll to them. Some afternoon bumps but overall nice to putt on. The pace was outstanding on the front, then we caught some slow groups on the back and played in about 4 1/2 hrs. Having so much fun, we played more holes until darkness set in.

Played on Monday 2/5 in an SCGA member outing. Conditions of the course were outstanding but not as good as I have seen it the past. Fairways were a pleasure to hit from, lush and tight yet soft to get under the ball. There were some thin areas most notably on the tee boxes. Bunkers were both visually pleasing with white sand and all perfectly raked with plenty of sand. Greens were fast and pure and always the best part of the course, soft enough to hold a well struck shot but extremely fast. The layout is fantastic with a wide variety of shots and no 2 holes alike. I love playing here and will play every time the opportunity presents. In my opinion, one of the best and most fun golf courses in SoCal

Played Sunday, 1/25 with a large group of Gk'ers and LA Golf Group at twilight. Always enjoy playing Goose Creek and they are always accommodating to our group. Play once a year as its a long drive for me but always worth the effort as you are treated to fast greens, lush fairways and an interesting layout. Wind was up on this day and hitting greens was challenging due the wind and shaved falloff's around the greens. Found myself chipping up to tucked pins with no room for error or you would just be chipping again from the other side or the same spot. Probably like this all the time but i didn't remember this aspect of the layout from previous times played. Its great when play a course that challenges you in different ways each time you play it. Conditions and pace of play were outstanding and rivals anything close to this price range, great value. Outstanding practice facilities and clubhouse provides all expected. Cant wait for the next time i play here. Those that live close should feel fortunate.

Played Sunday 11/16. This was the second of 2 courses played over a Mexico weekend golf trip. The first was Real Del Mar closer to Tijuana and not worth the trip across the border and mostly has and un maintained executive feel to it. Bajamar was a first rate experience and in great condition with smooth fast greens, lush fairways with defined cuts of rough. We played the vista and ocean 9's. Layout was fantastic with interesting holes and amazing views. Vista plays up on the cliffs with trump like ocean views. The ocean nine drops down to the waters edge and plays next to the rocky shoreline. This part of the course starts out with a 160 yrd shot over the shoreline and water that can only rival hole 7 at pebble. Amazing experience. Then the next 4 or 5 holes follow the shoreline with straight forward holes that feel nothing but spectacular due to the views. The pace was set by us as there was no one in sight for most of the day. Overall, one of the best golf experiences i have ever had.

Played Monday 12/1. Pace was ok but slow for a Monday at about 4 1/2 hrs. They are in the process of doing some renovations. Look like some of the bunkers were getting new sand and some fairways new turf. Greens were bumpy and a little inconsistent but not bad overall. No temporary greens on this day. Overall I enjoyed the day at Knollwood and it was great to be back after a long hiatus due to slow play and there being so many better options around with regard to pace, price and condition. Very forgiving course with wide fairways with some interesting holes and challenging shots such as the approach on 9 and the tee shot on 10.

Local course for me and I play here frequently. They have been doing some improvements so a recent review is in order.

Many of the greenside bunkers have been reconfigured and updated recently with new fluffy white sand. While I definitely applaud the changes and appreciate the pride the staff has taken with the new improvements in educating golfers in ways to help maintain the course. By fixing ball marks, raking the bunkers and keeping carts away from the green complexes. They get allot of beginner play here due to executive size and low price point. So keep up the good work in 1st tee dialog with the players. It is up to us to play in ways that minimize the effect of playing on the course.

The new bunkers visually have added to the course and appear Augusta like and well defined from the tees. Fairway bunkers have not been worked on and still have hard dirt colored sand/dirt in them. Hopefully they will make some improvements there as well. There has been some design changes due to new bunkers. Notably on 4 and 13 as the intimidation factor of the deep faced old bunkers is gone as the new ones are relatively flat and the putting surface can be seen when in them. They also removed the left greenside bunker on 13 as a result removing that channel that balls would feed into between the bunkers either through too much spin or putting from the back downhill to that diabolical front hole position.

I did notice that the right side fairway bunker on 15 was removed. This bunker was well positioned to catch long irons off the tee and got allot of play. Overall i think the changes softened the course a little and personally on the fence regarding the play ability changes but the condition improvements are welcome. There tends to be trend lately in making golf easier for the masses as similar play ability changes were made to Olivas Links in Ventura.

Not so sure about this approach to make golf golf more appealing. In the end it may make some of these course less appealing to frequent players.

Vista offers tons of value in the variety of shots, great pace of play (typically) and recently for the most part above average condition.

Played in the GK event Sat 7/12. Great event and good time as always, thanks JGK. Olivas is in great summer condition now. Fairways and tee boxes are lush and a pleasure to play from. Greens were a tad bit slow for my tastes but putted true and held shots reasonably. Overall OL is a treat in the summer with cool temps and lush course conditions. Some noticeable changes to the course since my last visit. Some of the native areas have been trimmed creating some new visual's and opportunities. As an example hole 11 was trimmed on the right side allowing you to see the green complex from the fairway short. Previously you needed to get close to the dogleg to see the green. On this day, I benefited and saved a shot as I was able to play my ball out of the hazard but, wasn't happy with the change as I feel it softened up the hole and took some interest out of the hole. I always felt Olivas had a perfect balance with playability and interest and this change plus some other similar changes may have softened the course a little. Not needed, in my opinion.
Hopefully this is just temporary and the plan in the end is to bring new vegetation and restore these characteristics back. Cant believe im saying to bring back the full canopy of trees right on 15 & 16 that ive been b$tch ing about for years but it just doesn't feel the same without it.

Played Sat 5/10 in a GK Match Play. 1st time playing here for me, enjoyed the course and probably my favorites of the LA city courses. The layout is fun and diverse when compared to the other valley city courses. Green were recently punched so a trip back is in order once they heel. Good collection of holes and very forgiving making for a fun round. Short of few holes running along Glenoaks Boulevard, the setting is visually pleasing against the mountains. Pace of play not so good and we waited on most holes but finished in 5 hours.

Played Sunday 4/27 @ 3pm. No discount super twilight @ 16 to walk and $19 to ride. Pace was fantastic as there was no one in front of us for a few holes. Conditions were OK and nothing out of the ordinary for an LA Muni. Vista provides an interesting Par 61 layout with a variety of holes, well protected greens and lots of elevation changes. Hard to beat it for the practice when you consider its about the price of a bucket of balls. I will be back often.

Played Friday 4/18 with other GK'ers with a pre purchased coupon. Great experience as its always nice to have the opportunity to play a members only course at your own pace without the crowds. The course itself was just OK with many long fairly tight tree lined flat holes. From a distance the course looks to be in great shape with striped fairways but when you get closer you are faced with many hard pan lies and its thin in some areas, as a result it started to feel average. The greens were recently punched but putted true and will be great when healed.

Played Monday 4/7 as a single with a time booked on their website for $49. Really enjoyed this course and will a look to go back anytime in the area. The condition, layout and staff were top notch and exceeded my expectations. The front nine was pleasant yet still challenging with lots of design features like elevation changes, doglegs and well protected greens. Started the day as a single, I was lucky to have caught up with a threesome of locals on the third tee box. I was playing well (for me) and made a comment of how much fun I was having & how friendly the layout was. They all agreed but said wait till the back nine. After a par on 10 with a well placed tee shot down the hill and a great approach wedge shot over a large tree with the pin tuck directly behind the tree, the numerous penalty shots started to creep into my game. The back plays way harder with forced carries, narrow shouts, tricky doglegs and blind shots. Limped off the 18th green with a huge smile on my face and three new friends. What a day, I will play again when in the area and highly recomend Hunter Ranch.

Played Sunday 3/30 with a large group of 16 with a discounted rate just before twilight. Customer service here was outstanding and you get the feeling they appreciate you and care about your experience. The course was a little dry and hard, winter conditions with brown fairways and hard pan lies. Greens were a little bumpy ans showed signs of play some un repaired divots, they are punching in two days. Even with those negatives what an enjoyable round as the layout is really fun with well placed hazards, doglegs and elevation changes. Pace was good for a Sunday afternoon. Overall, great facility with outstanding customer service. I look forward to going back. once the course softens up and the greens heal Coyote Hills would be well worth a visit.
