It was decent, not nearly what I expected after reading about the course before I played. I expected much better conditions, especially on the fairways. Also I expected more bunkers to be in play based on course descriptions on their website.

Once a great desert golf course, has been turned into an utter dump (my opinion is that it is due to a lack of funding from owners and care/interest for improvement from the members). There is nothing, absolutely nothing, about this course that makes it worthy of the $40 or $50 being charged to play it. Even if this course were $5 to play, it would be less disappointing to hit rocks with a branch at the river and save the $5. Most of the old curmudgeons who play daily are snobby and rude. There is nothing good about this course except memories of a course once worth playing.

Palouse Ridge is an incredible experience, a true test for a low handicap golfer. The greens are incredible and challenging. From the first drive to the last putt, Palouse Ridge is exciting. On top of that, the restaurant and course staff make the entire day enjoyable. Go Cougs!

Details of the course: The tee boxes are stunning, perfectly flat and trimmed for a nice start to each hole. The fairways are not too difficult to hit, but misses will find serious side-hills, bunkers, perfectly cut rough, or worse: the waste lands. There are areas of the course purposely left to overgrow, creating a natural hazard that is both beautiful and painful if experienced firsthand. The key is making it to the green safely, where the true challenge begins. The greens are firm and fast, but playable. There are not many, if any, straight putts on the course. With that said, they are not impossible to consistently two-putt. The challenge is keeping it close to the pin to shoot low. A very fun test and a stunning beauty in the Palouse.

How do I sum up Wine Valley...
Challenging, fast, wide open, the greens are second to none.
Play forward if you are above a 10 handicap. The championship and 2nd tees are very challenging. Even with wide open fairways, the greens are what defines the difficulty of the course. They are extremely undulating and maintained at a professional level for excellent roll and fairness. Uphill putts are makeable. The views and weather are fantastic. Usually very open for smooth play. I would buy the first house here when they decide to make it a community. As it is right now, it is in the rolling hills surrounded by luscious farms and wine vineyards. Beautiful, fun, and challenging.
