Played today on a sunny beautiful day. I haven't played here for almost one year. Unbelievable conditions I was completely floored. Lush green fairways, tees are green and immaculate, and the greens are just absolute perfection. Hard, fast and pure. If you're above the hole, forget it, you're 3 putting. I hit 7 out of 9 nine greens on the front and shot 44. Too many 3 putts and one 4 putt. On the par 3 6th hole, I had a 40 footer for birdie then I had a 30 footer coming back for par, you get the idea. Sand was decent, but where did all the rakes go? Many of the huge bunkers only had one rake. Cart girl came around plenty of times, overall a great day at SCGA, er Rancho California.

Played yesterday under cloudy, cool conditions breaking away to hazy sunshine and basically a perfect day to be out on the links. Its a long drive but what a course! Everything about Barona is really nice. ProShop guy was super cool and checked us in with a great rate. He didn't have to do that but bent over backwards for us. Golf course is exceptional right now. Tees, fairways, bunkers are perfect. And the greens are just amazing. Hard, smooth and very fast. Best greens I've putted on in quite a while. Love the mix and flavor of holes, nothing too tricked out. Played here many years ago when it first opened and wondered why it took so long to come back. I'll be coming back more often. It's a pleasure to pay for a golf course whose conditions and greens are exceptional and where the people there make your day on the links a fantastic experience. Oh, cart girl came around 3-4 times, perfect.

I must say, this place is definitely coming around. It's almost back to the early days when it first opened. The fairways, really nice. Filling in and lush, green and healthy. There are spots on some fairways that aren't cooperating, but you can tell the maintainance guys are trying really hard. The bunkers are coming around. EG is working on them and it's going to take awhile but it's still a work in progress. The ones they've already done are very nice. The greens are hard and fast, and they give you a great roll, but my issue with them is that they are almost all poa now, and the bent in them isn't very strong. I realize it's a hard thing to do to control the poa, and again the EG guys are trying hard but the greens will probably never be like they were when they first opened. However, that being said, to their credit, they are hard and fast, and being
above the hole will make for long day on the greens. Cart girl came around plenty of times and was very nice. About the only "problem" the course has is the coots on 18th fairway. Brutal on your shoes with all the poo but all in all, EG is really trying hard. And that can't be said for a ton of other courses right now.

Played yesterday. Greens very good, very fast, do not be above the hole. Rest of course ok. Bunkers were smooth but no sand in them. Concrete underneath. Cart girl came around plenty of times. Starter and pro came out after an hour and sped up play due to the first 3 holes taking 90 min. to play. After that it was cool.

Played last Sunday and what a glorious, sun-filled day amongst a week surrounded by rain. Outstanding treatment of bag guys, proshop personnel. You can tell the guys are proud to work here. Course was a little soggy, not a lot of roll on the fairways but the greens were fine. Work is being done to some of the bunkers but with all the rain, that's to be expected. The front bank on 18 is tarped, due to too much rain but the rest of the course is outstanding, as usual. The NCGA deal here has been a huge, huge hit and it has been extended to April. Unbeatable deal right now for a Top 100 golf course. Julie Inkster came out in the afternoon after we finished and started off the No. 1 tee to play a round of golf. She's totally cool. Can't wait to get back..

Played last Sunday after years of driving by it to play Spy, Spanish, Poppy, etc. Have played here before but not since the redesign. Wow, it is really, really a pleasure and a joy to play a golf course like this. Exceptional conditions and unbelievable facility. First of all, when we drove in, there were 10 cars in the parking lot. Where is everybody at 10am on a Sunday? Basically had the course to ourselves. Pro shop guys were nice, starter cool, but no cart girl. Range is exceptional, balls are all NXT Tours. Tees, fairways and greens are hard, tight and fast. Turf is very nice! The redesign is similar to what they did to Industry Hills, cleaned it up and cut away trees and underbrush. What's left is still an absolutely brutal golf course but if you could hone your game here, you'd be a + player. Can't wait to return and play the BlackHorse. The hot chili bowl at the turn was yummy.

My Lord, what a fantastic golf course. Time has only made this place even better. Tees, fairways, greens and bunkers are exceptional. Staff is top-notch. Food is excellent as well. One of my favs in all of NorCal.

Played SCGA last Friday. Greens were superb as they just had State CIF qualifying. Fairways were thin here and there, I could care less about the tee boxes. Tee boxes were in good shape though. This place is a real treat to play when they keep the greens in the shape they're in. Very challenging.

The SCGA is back. Played today on a whim (had extremely low expectations) and the golf course is phenomenal. New owners know what they're doing as opposed to the previous ones. The nines have been reversed back to their original setting, the No. 1 hole being the par 5 across the little street. The "new" (old) scorecards are back and thank god they switched it back. A ton of work has gone into this course the last 3 months. Lots of scrub areas have been cleaned up and the turf overall is a lot healthier now than ever before. There's still problem areas, the 3rd hole fairway still doesn't drain very well, kinda soggy and wet all the time due to the overhanging trees lining the left side of the rough. There are other patches here and there where the rye overseed hasn't taken as well, but all these dirt areas are well marked with white spray paint as GUR, free drop. The greens are superb(fast and smooth but receptive, keep it below the hole or you're toast), the bunkers are very good and overall the rye overseed has taken well as the fairways are firm and the rough, though not long, is dense and duely punishing wayward drives. Next up is leveling all the tee boxes, it will take some time but overall, I was blown away and extremely happy about the SCGA. I haven't played here is a long time due to the neglect and carelessness of the staff. It was dropped on our rotation of courses, but now it will thankfully be restored and that's something I'm d%mn happy about. Thank you SCGA, keep it up.

Golf Course..........nice, greens were good, fairways were fine, rough was cut down. Sand was so-so, could have more sand in most bunkers but not too bad.

Staff....very nice, professional.

Food.......god awful. Worst food at any golf course, period. That being said service was good. This place has a reputation for having bad food and it didn't disappoint. I hate saying that but it's true. Fortunately the golf course was in great shape.

Played last week in the searing heat. Customer service was superb, as well as the golf course. The turf was fine, bunkers were better than average, but not fantastic. Overall, for the heat, the tees, fairways, rough and greens were in fantastic shape. I really love playing here, great test of golf. One of my fav's in the desert.
