Played Rosie on Saturday 12/14. Played 18.
Greens were in GREAT shape with a few exceptions around the edges (#7 front edge of green had some rough patches). Tee boxes were not in great shape - a little too wet and lacking coverage in some places. Fairways were in good shape and you can see it really starting to grow in.
Overall, I would recommend this course. It's a fun little 9 with some tricky greens, elevation changes, blind tee shots, sloping fairways, and a couple of tight driving holes. It's an LA muni, so it's never going to be perfect/immaculate, but it is in very very playable shape.

I Love this course. The routing on the front 9 is exceptional working up into the hills that create the canyon below. Elevation changes galore, shots over ravines, centerline bunkers, and dog legs in both directions (though more right then left (thank goodness!!!)) really make for a creative and fun course.
The greens are GREAT! With the exception that there are a LOT of ball marks. Come on people, you earned it with a green hit from high enough and far enough away to leave a pitch mark. Now, show off and fix your ball mark... and the one next to it just to be kind. But fast and lots of curves to make them very challenging.
The fairways aren't great. The summer has taken it's toll and there are more bare spots than I would like to see, but I think they'll get it fixed.
The tee boxes are a mess right now. They are letting the grass grow out and watering it like crazy. We had to step through some puddles to find an ok area to tee the ball up.

Overall --- GREAT track! Looking forward to getting out again in a month or so when the weather has cooled and the repairs have taken hold.

Late getting to my review. Played the course on 6/13. Played after work. AWFUL!!!! I should have walked back into pro shop and demanded a refund when I got to the 1st fairway. Almost no grass on any of the fairways. Almost no sand in any of the bunkers. Just a poorly maintained disaster.

Driving range mats were worn as well (though, they did have a nice array of well marked targets).

ONLY positive is that they had great putting and chipping practice area. I chipped for an hour after giving up after 9 holes.

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!!

Played on 8/5 in the afternoon (GREAT twilight rate).
The bad - no beverage cart and it's a detour to get into the clubhouse at the turn for a bite to eat. There was a damage waiver/info form on the cart steering wheel.. but no scorecard. Guy at register took the $ but no other interaction or indication about when to head out. No call from a starter to play. I think I could have probably grabbed a cart and gone out without anyone noticing (I'm not suggesting anyone should do that, just pointing out the lack of customer service).
The good - course was EMPTY for a Saturday afternoon. We had a 2some and then a single tee off ahead of us (4 some) and we never saw them again. We let a twosome play through and we did have to wait for them a couple times (they were SLOW and they stopped for food at the turn).
The course is in good shape. Minimal ball mark damage on the greens. Fairways were mostly in very good shape (par 5 3rd had a big area in middle of fairway that was bare).
Sand traps were not very sandy. Buddy got into a couple and there wasn't enough sand to hit under the ball.
Tee boxes were in good shape.
The course is built into some hills/canyons just south of Corona, CA. Some very dramatic elevation changes and some really creative par 3s.
It's Corona in the summer, so it's hot, but they get a little breeze to keep it from being awful.
Get out and play it!

Played on Tuesday morning 7/15. Got around in 4 hours. Course is in really good shape for the most part. Bunkers were overly wet (one was puddled) and the unrepaired ball marks on the green were rampant. (come on golfers - fix your ball marks!)
The course is challenging, interesting, and beautiful. It is cut into an old quarry in riverside (as the name declares) and they use the rocks to dramatic effect. The 4th green sits in what looks like an amphitheater with a cove / wall of rock behind it. The 14th is a downhill par 3 playing around 200 yards. To the left all along the hole and up to the green is a cliff. Behind the green is a stunning wall of rock. There is a bailout area right, but there are bunkers there as well. It's just a fantastic hole. And there are several holes like that. There are elevation changes throughout the course as well.
I highly recommend this course!

Played Black Gold on Tuesday 5/28. Teed it up at 7am. Gorgeous morning. Sunshine and 65-ish temps. No wind at all. The wet winter has been very good for this course.

The course is in absolutely amazing shape. Fairways are lush. There isn't much rough (except around the greens - see below) as you go from fairway to 1st cut to rattlesnake country. But there are wildflowers blooming all over.

Greens were absolutely immaculate. I have never seen better greens. They are FAST and contoured with big slopes. But the ball rolls true. The rough around the greens was in great shape. Long and thick, but fair. If the ball sat down it was tough to get out with any control, but I had a few balls sit up nicely and was able to hit some good flop shots.

Tee boxes were in great shape. No issues at all. You could easily "tee up" for iron shots without a tee.

I absolutely love this course. It is CHALLENGING! Even from the whites it beat me into submission. You don't have to be long, but you do have to be straight to get around this course. I was both short and crooked last week.

Quick note - they mow the driving range on Tuesday mornings, so if you have an early tee time you're not going to get to hit balls. The practice green and chipping area are down the cart path towards the 1st tee which is nice. If you're waiting to tee off it's nice to be able to practice while waiting.

I can't recommend this course enough. On the weekend it's pricey, but on a weekday it's not bad.

Cheers!

Played Rustic Canyon for the 1st time on Monday 6/3 after work ($24 to ride). Teed off around 5:15 with another single and was hoping to fly through the course. That wasn't the case on the front 9. For a Monday afternoon it was crowded!
Besides that, it is an absolutely amazing course. The tee boxes were in good shape (a lot of divots as it was late in the day, but full grass coverage and it was easy to find a good place to tee up). The fairways were mowed short but fully covered and never had a bad or bare lie in the fairway. They were firm! Ball rolled out quite a bit.
Greens were in great shape. Firm, fast, rolled true. They are VERY contoured and challenging. The negative on the greens is that there are a LOT of unfixed ball marks. (editorial - come on guys and gals! Fix your ball marks! It's a badge of honor to have to pull that tool out of your pocket. even if you miss the green pull it out and fix a couple!!!).
The course is absolutely gorgeous. It's set back in the hills and leaves a lot of the local terrain untouched. The holes are creative and enjoyable. It is BY FAR the best value I have ever seen in golf. If you dropped this into Orange County or farther south in LA county it would be $75+ to play it.

TLDR - Course is amazing and in great shape! Get out and play before it gets too hot!
