Played on New Years day 2012. We get out of the cold mid-west for a week and have played SN the last 4 years. The course was built in a planned community but unfortunately due to the economy the housing has not taken off and there are only a couple of home built. These homes and any other that are built in the future will never come into play on the course as there are nice buffer zones. The course itself is managed by Troon golf and is in great shape. Wide fairways that are firm are nice if your swing is a bit off but strategic bunkering around the greens will keep you honest. Greens run fast but hold shots and bunker sand is some of the best you'll play. Eighteen is a great finishing hole at only about 340 yds from the blue tees but the right side of the green is a peninsula out into a lake and the pin is usually tucked there.

Waterlefe is one of my favorite courses in the Sarasota area. If you are hooking the ball, you will have a long day as water is close and left on almost every hole. The course is always in great shape, fairways are cut tight so some might complain about that type of lie. Bunker sand is perfect firmness. Number 16 is a tough par 3 over a swamp area next to the Manatee River very scenic. I think it is one of the must play courses in the Sarasota area.

I was in So Cal and played The Goose on Halloween Friday. I agree with what Cheeseburger said in the last post concerning course conditions. I got to the course at 7am Friday as a single and was the first on the list and got out in 40 minutes. It was a busy morning but great customer service in the pro shop! Got paired up with some good company and played in 4:10, not bad. I would also tell anyone who has not played this course to put it into your rotation.

Out visiting relatives and decided to play Oak Valley as they will be hosting second stage PGA Q-school in a week or two. First time playing there and joined locals Bob & Ray. They are brother in laws who only have been playing for 6 months, great guys who did not effect my scoring. Anyway back to the course. Fairways a little rough maybe due to still growing in from over seeding but this does not really hurt your lies. Greens ran smooth even though punch holes were still healing. What I liked, no unrepaired ball marks! I enjoyed the course, playing partners and a 4 hour round on the nose! Would very much recommend a round at OV.

Played this course on 3/29/07 with a friend. Course fairways are fair with some extream forced carries. Greens not that good as they are hard as concrete, you never get rewarded for a well hit shot.

Was in San Diego for vacation and wanted to give this course a try for some time due to it's always high ratings. I was not disappointed. This course is on great shape and the greens are the best I have played! Fast, firm, receptive, fair. Only improvement Steele Canyon can make is to add GPS to it's carts.

Played on Friday 1/27 while on vacation. I had read the many reviews of this course and was not disapointed. Goose Creek is in excellent condition tee to green. Only complaint and it is a minor one, is the green speeds were slow, it least the day I played. The Goose is now on my list of courses to play when I return to Southern Cal.

Was on vacation and played this course Wednesday 1/25. Played in the morning with no wind which was nice. Course is in very good condition. Greens very fast and minimal ball marks. Played last year and greens were slow and pot marked. Only real complaint I would have is that there is not much sand in the bunkers. Also last 3 holes have mud hens (a type of bird) doing damage to greens and fairways. The course needs to take measures to get rid of these birds. Overall Oak Quarry is one of the best courses I play in Southern Cal.

Played this course while on vacation. Nice design but believe they have some problems to over come. Regular green fee was quoted $105, but when I asked if they have a special was told fee of $55. Glad I asked as this course is not a $105 course due to condition. Course is over watered! I know this is Southern California(desert), but standing water in fairways and traps are like mud. Range is nice, but teeing area hadn't been mowed in days. No GPS, there is yardage on some sprinklers, but you can't read them as they are dirty or worn. There are many unfixed ball marks, but that is not clubs fault but the golfers that are regulars there. If I lived in this area I would not go back until I know these negitives are elimitated. There are better conditioned courses in area for $55, much less $105.
