Great suburbia local 18 hole course with great views from the upcountry of Maui. This is a relief from very expensive and pretentious courses of north & south shores tourists areas. The course is medium long with mild uphill & downhill par 3 & 4 holes. Excellent conditions of fairways & greens. Good on-site informal dining.

Conveniently located in the Kaanapali area of north Maui. Only book through golfing-now if possible for about $100 (not worth anything over this amount!). This an older-style championship course that is pretty challenging, pretty long, various elevation changes, tricky greens, and well-position sand traps. Generally for a recreational golfer, this course is relatively open and forgiving. This course is about in par with the Kapalua Bay and the Wailea Blue courses. There is no functional grill/bar, snack bar, etc. at the main building.

This muni facility appears to really going downhill in terms of promoting more business and customer PR. The tee time phone reservation process is nearly impossible...wrong number throughout the Internet, no one staffing the phone on a regular basis, etc. The published rates for outside tourists is now at $65 with cart....this is now higher than many of the other public which are much better run and maintained than this muni-run public course. Go to The Dunes, Pukalani, Kaihili, or Ellelair instead.

Played it on a wednesday, teeing off about 12 noon. The course was very quiet...business may be down with lack of tourists coming to maui. It feels like there is a severe lack of watering. The sand traps were generally in poor condition...lack of sand, erosion of the edges from watering or rain, etc. Be sure to go to Golfnow for best rates. Also there is currently a $60, after 11 special.

This course is really top notch...its upkeep, its immaculate landscaping, outstanding ocean views, a fair and reasonable course layout for for serious and recreational golfers, and complete support facilities/amenities, i.e. driving range, proshop, formal and casual dining, etc. This somewhat expensive public course is worth the special experience in the southern California area.

My wife and I are medium to high handicappers. The course beautifully laid and landscaped...almost consistently throughout (there are some overhead power lines). Although not as hilly as the nearby Crossings, the course remains very challenging with a lot of variations in layout for each hole. Distances from the 2nd and 3rd shots in are difficult to judge. The greens are reasonably fair, in terms of slopes and size. The finishing hole is really not very exciting. The bag dropoff, the proshop and its associated elements are surprising unassuming and rather small and tight for such a prestigious and well-known golf course in southern california.

This course is very exciting and beautiful, but yet challenging. Each hole is very different from the others. You have to constantly strategizing each drive, each shot, etc. until you get the ball into cup. Accuracy and distance are essential for most of your shots. There are lots of elevation changes. This course is not for casual or recreational golfers. The most of fairways are rather brown and somewhat dry. Greens are always tricky. Lot of the traps are pretty large and deep, but with good sand. Overhead power lines are a common sight over many of the holes. Friendly and helpful staff.

Overall the course and facilities is somewhat in need of maintenance and additional upkeep. The overall layout is very good...fair for high handicappers and challenging for the long hitters. From reading various reviews from yelp, california golf, tripadvisor, etc. this place, in my opinion is about a 2.5 to 3. We paid $58 for out of town seniors.
