I play the Auburn golf course almost weekly during the spring/summer. It is really a course of 2 very different nines. The front plays very flat and relatively short. The back nine, holes 10-13 are quite hilly and with some slope.

That being said, it is a very well conditioned and fun golf course. The fairways and the greens are in very good shape during this time of the year. It does get pretty damp during the winter/spring months, but they have made a lot of improvements in that area also.

There are some large deep bunkers to avoid and on some holes, out of bounds does come into play. Pace of play can sometimes be pretty slow as does become busy at times.

A fairly new clubhouse with pretty good food compliments your round at the end of the day.

Have played Estrella a few different times. This round on 8/9/12 I was a bit disappointed in the condition of the greens and fairways.

I understand that it is the summer in Az, but there were a lot of bare spots on the fairways and on some of the greens that I had not experienced here last summer. There were quite a few stressed areas.

That said, it is an outstanding design with multiple memorable holes and I know that they will get the course back into it usual quality state.

Having played the Coldwater course multiple times throughout the different seasons I was very pleased with the condition it was in during the Dog Days of August. We played 2 rounds there in the span of 2 weeks.

The fairways were well cut and green with no bald or dead areas. There was an area under repair or getting ready to add some bunkers on a couple of holes.

The greens overall were a little slow for this time of year, but they were consistent and some were a bit bumpy. A high approach shot will easily hold the greens.

The rough, was a consistent 2 or so inches and very lush. All the more reason to stay in the fairway.

It is a great value with undulating fairways, some short/medium desert carries from the tees and rolling greens. Carts are always included in the green fees.
