Started golfing in March 2009. A bit of a late bloomer to the game, but now that I have discovered it; my wife and I love to get out every week and hit the links in southern California. A week without golf is like a week without Sunshine. Due to work and commute I get to the driving range about twice a month, but playing is pretty much a weekend only activity.

Got out Sunday around 11am, fairly windy day (15-20mph) and cart path only due to rains Tuesday and Wednesday...yep....the course does not drain for squat.
long round...high winds....lots of waiting.
i like that the course is close to me and i like the layout..but that is about it...if you are right there and get a deal, it is fine..otherwise, there are just better options.
from the Southern Cal comparison - it reminds me of Westridge in La Habra» Close

Played Sunday at 1:15 PM on a very crowded afternoon. The novelty of this course is the 6-6-6 layout....you do have a nice chance to score good with 6 par 5s.
Conditions left a bit to be desired though...Bunkers are very poor for hard, crusty dried up dirt in most if not all bunkers. Greens did not roll true as there were just a lot of marks and halfway repair pitch marks everywhere....
the Courses defense is the greens..you have to know where to attack and if you don't...it can be a total guessing game and possibly resulting in more 3 putts than you might typically get.
still a nice afternoon with the wife out on a sunny yet windy day in the metroplex.» Close

Made the flight from Dallas to Vegas to meet up with fellow GKers and play some golf for the weekend. First stop was Reflection Bay. Obviously a highly regarded course in the area. Not cheap, but then again what is in vegas? Customer service was top shelf! the team really took care of our motley crew. warm up area - disappointing as there is just a warm up net to hit into, that wouldn't be all that bad IF you could tee up and hit driver. Course-wise...Love the layout and the challenge. Great mixture and change of pace on the holes. Sand/FW/Rough were all excellent....the issue was with the greens....now honestly, they rolled just fine, but there was some fungus or something along the collars and it really just messed up the cosmetics. I would still recommend the course but keep your idea of value a bit lower as it is Las Vegas.» Close

Wife and I made the 2.25 hour drive out to Frankston to check out this course. It is well respected and regarded as one of the top public courses in the state. okay, so first impression was good...nothing overly awe inspiring from the parking lot...but you could see ALL the towering pines all around. Easy check in and off to the range....balls are complimentary and the range was decent....no complaints. The course was fun, challenging especially for the first timer...complex greens and you really need to know where to hit and where you could miss. This course reminded me at times of Pinehurst and also Texarkana Country Club. It is a fairly tight course with its share of doglegs. I am glad we made the trek to play the course, but I dont know if i would make that drive again for it. I think the regulars have a GOOD monthly deal, but the general public like us are paying over $80 each for weekend play...a bit high in my opinion.» Close

got out Sunday morning around 9:30, got paired up with 3 other players and was able to finish in approx 4 hours....not too bad for a crowded Sunday i suppose.
Course was in good shape, i had read a review on some other location that mentioned they had green issues...well, that was far from the case. they looked good and rolled just fine...
the rough was the most frustrating part...this is a course at a del web property and if you missed the FW by 1 yard you might struggle to find it....i think it was at least a half shot penalty if you missed the FW.
all in all, the layout of the holes was enjoyable...some forced carries and some challenging shots over water.» Close
