I played the GK event on the Nicklaus course Sunday and had a great time. The great service started on the practice range when one of the employees saw me walking and tried to give me a ride over to the range. The range was in great shape although it could have used a few more slots to hit from. Once on the course I had a great time playing the Nicklaus layout. The course played tough with the elevated fairways and deep waist bunkers. The sand "which I spent a good portion of my day in" was soft and playable. The fairways were in great shape with the summer grass starting to come in over the rye. I especially liked the greens with some subtle breaks but very playable and very consistent. The light rain helped with the approach shots staying on the green. This was a fantastic GK event and I look forward to playing the Norman and Stadium courses this coming weekend. If you get the chance don't miss out on playing at this great resort.» Close

I played with Matt Mpisarski01 on Saturday the 1st of April. Having bought this for Matt as a Christmas present it was a real treat to play the Pelican South Course. Having said that the course was not going to give me an easy day. We warmed up on the practice range on the turf with our caddie Eddie watching our last few shots. It is quite different playing with a caddie. It took me a while to believe him and do what he suggested(I should have listened to his advise more). The greens were fast yet soft to take a long iron shot. I actually plugged a 5 iron onto the 11th green. The fairways were as expected this time of year green but still coming out of dormancy. They were cut short with a narrow first cut of rough and then 6" was not out of the question. I had several shots that I could only hit it back into the fairway a few yards from the deep rough. It made keeping the ball in the fairway a must. Once on the greens they played very fast and the subtle reads were hard for me to believe even with the help of Eddie our caddie (I should have listened to him).
The views and weather here on the Newport Coast are unbelievable. Pelican is a true resort course right here in our own back yard. I would love to play again if I can get a part time job to cover the green fees. If you get the opportunity to play the Pelican Hills take it and enjoy.» Close

I had the pleasure of playing the Cross Creek course on Saturday the 18th of March. The course is in great shape with the surrounding hillsides lush and green. The course itself is green and in great shape. There are very few bare spots and only a few wet/muddy areas in the fairways.
The greens are in good shape and were pretty hard making a good approach shot important. I had several mid iron shots land on the green only to roll off the side or back. On the greens the puts rolled true and were a challenge to read. The driving range is in good shape with nice level tee box areas. I felt the putting greens did seem to be a bit slower than the greens on course. I do feel that you need to play this course several time to understand hoe to score on some of the holes. I look forward to playing again with a better knowledge of the course. This is a course that I recommend playing» Close

I had the pleasure to play at Oak Quarry on Sunday March 12th. This is by far one of the most beautiful courses I have played. The holes are challenging but fair. The tee boxes were perfect as were the fairway's. The greens were punched the week before and very bumpy. I look forward to go back to play with the greens in better shape. The staff was very good, they met us at the car to pick up our bags and returned them to the car for us. All in all this was a very good day on an excellent course.» Close
