Played today. Course has dried out nicely with recent sunny and windy days. Tee boxes all in good shape. Fairways dry and firm with roll out. Traps were clean and playable. Rough playable. Greens are just great. Firm but hold and release shots. And have good speed. Excellent customer service from Dillon and Julia in the shop.

Played yesterday afternoon. A little to cold to play early AM. IMO course is not in good shape at the moment since the recent rains. It appears maintenance has not been able to get after the course. They said it would happen today hopefully. The fairways are still a little rough with high grass, some wet areas that have not completely dried out. You get some good lies, some muddy lies and some unplayable lies as of yesterday. And you get no roll out. Tee boxes were good but need moving as they are getting chewed up. Traps were so so but need work. Greens were the highlight. Hold high shots, release shots and but are firm and will send errant shots off the green. But they have good speed and especially from above the hole. Great customer service from Stu in the shop. And be advised that rates have gone up since Jan 1st. I won't rate today as it would be unfair to do so. But if they can mow and trim today/tomorrow I think the course should be in good playing condition with the winds drying it out and sunny skies predicted this week.

Played this AM. Course is still soggy from the rains. Funny I did not feel it rained that much here in the area. While the fairways are still damp little to no roll out. You might even get a plugged one occasionally. They also have not been mowed lately and the rough is not manageable. Tee boxes are all playable. And surprisingly the traps are also. Greens are fine and chip and putt with good speed of about 8/9. Excellent customer service from Dillon and Julia as usual and from Rich who runs the cart area. And Troon is raising prices beginning Jan 1. But not for Seniors. Merry Christmas / Happy New Year and wishing great golf for 24 to all GK and new GK members.

Being busy this past week I wanted to get in some golf today so took a chance on a mid morning round. Turned out OK. Had a small group in front of me but they were playing a best ball amongst themselves and it helped move things along. POP was 4:15. Course is IMO going into winter mode at present. I did not feel the fairways were as good as they have been recently. Many of the tee boxes need to have the markers moved as some are getting beat up. Very little rough to speak of and what is there was playable. No bunkers from anyone so all I can say is they looked poorly raked from lots of early play but other than that they appeared good. Greens were in good shape but many unrepaired divots from the group in front of us. Customer service in the shop from Dillon was excellent as usual. And the weather was spectacular and found out later we are expecting rain next week. So my decision was a sound one. BTW Troon is raising the rates here effective Jan 1 2024.

Played yesterday AM. Not much to add to previous post other than the traps were clean and playable for us and heard no complaints. Nick the greenskeeper has the greens in great shape. Too bad we are losing him to Montebello Top Golf shortly. Hope Troon has a good replacement in mind. And Oscar who is in the maintenance team is always fun to talk with as he goes about setting up the tee boxes and pins on Sunday. Always great customer service on Thursdays and Sundays from Dillon and Julia in the shop and Rich who takes care of the cart barn. I also recommend.

A quick summary: I got out as single joining another single at 12 noon on Friday 12/1. Weather -wise it was about as perfect for a round as can be expected — sunny, cool but not brisk until late in the round, and barely any wind all day. This is a shorter course with a flat front one and a rolling back nine. They pay attention to the conditions here and they are consistently good all around with few lapses. This applied on the day and the greens were about as good as they get here. They were clean, reasonable quick and accepted shots and divots. Otherwise, fairway lies were good, rough was mostly green and playable, chipping conditions were good. I missed all the bunkers so no feedback there. Recommended for a relaxed round.

Happy Thanksgiving all. Got out first this AM and played a nice round in 2 H (riding of course). First time I did not encounter any back 9 players when making the turn. Course is in really nice shape at the moment. Nice tee boxes. Good fairways with good coverage lies, and roll out. Traps are playable but need a good turning IMO. No rough to really deal with. Greens are in nice shape holding shots and chipping/putting. Great customer service from Luke and Julia in the shop.

Played this AM. While the course was damp from overnight rains it still played very well. No tee box issues. Fairways were still damp but still had good lies and a fair amount of roll out. Bunkers were all clean and playable and in much better condition than previous rounds. Not much rough and what is there is playable although damp in the early AM. Greens had been mowed and held shots and even released some and also chipped/putted with good speed. Excellent customer service from Dillon and Julia in the shop and from Rich running the cart barn.

Went out Sunday morning walking as a single, got paired with another threesome and another single. In all the years I've played Alhambra I didn't know they let out fivesomes! It actually worked out great for POP (a shade under 4.5 hours) as we never had to wait, nor did the group behind us. Just flowed really nicely (to my surprise)

Excited to see the teeboxes healed up and lush. And the greens are really phenomenal, the best they've ever been. They must have gotten rolled that day because they were faster than i ever remembered them being. Rolling really pure, so good. Honestly, the course is probably in the best shape it's been in a while, kudos to them.

And if you have an Alhambra city card, it's $30 to walk on weekends?? To me, the best value in golf, but I might be biased as I love this course.
