Played Friday. First time playing this course and it was great. Customer service was great. Teeboxes were nice. Fairways and roughs were nice. Greens were okay. Alot of divot marks around the greens. greens seemed very thin. Rolled pretty true. some challenging pinplacements. Overall it was a great deal($59) to play this course. Would come back again

What a disappointment. I have never seen the course in such poor condition. This is such a awesome lay out. I hope they can make it through these tough times. The greens were slow and bumpy. Made for a long round.

This is a very nice golf course and can be tough because of hazards on both sides of many fairways though it's generous but not so wide either. Greens are undulated but not bad at all. A few creek/baranca/or hazrds crosses fairways... All-in-all it is a good test of skills from tee to green. I just wish the visitors would care more to fix ball divots on the green. Most of them are so obviously huge that can't be missed unless ignored. It's a beautiful course not to be cared for.

Played 08/11/08 with Kviser, Moneysworth and my friend Lisa. Had a great time and I have to say it is now one of my favorite courses. The weather was a little warm but it was not windy. It is a difficult course if you don't hit the ball straight. The tee boxes and fairways were green and lush. The greens were fast with a few divot marks, but the putts rolled true. The staff was wonderful. They were friendly and willing to help. Has the feeling of a country club.

Played on 08/11/08 with GK members Danoemi, Moneysworth, and a friend of Danoemi's, Lisa. Had a low bid at a silent auction and stole the Valley course for $35 each. Greens were wicked fast, just like in the old days of the course. Lots of ball marks, however. Not too bad, but enough to notice. Very soft greens - they could hold just about any decent shot. Rest of course in fantastic shape. Bunkers had good quality sand, except for the fairway bunker on the left of 13. Lots of friendly staff that gave the place a private club feel. They hand out towels, tees, markers, repair tools, and scorecards on the first tee; then they are there at the end to wipe down your sticks. One of the nicest clubhouse facilities in Southern California. This course is a must play.

Valley course, our favorite of the two, is in outstanding shape right now. Very much a central California country club feel to the place. Avoid windy days, can also be very hot here.

A great test of golf. If you hit the ball straight you can score well. Lots of trouble, well located traps and the greens are deceptively fast. On a lot of holes you can get in trouble if you hit the ball too far. Great views of the Santa Clarita Valley. The service was like that at either a resort or private club.

This was my second time playing here. Course knowledge helpful on several tee shots...too bad it had been over a year since I had last played here...couldn't remeber much. Anyway, the course is fantastic and in great shape! Pace of play could have been better, but the customer service is excellent.

DO NOT play this course, unless you like target golf and greens on cliffs? you can hit a good shot and still end up in trouble. the staff is great, the upkeep is ok for all the wind they have. but for "just golf" play some place closer to home, were good shots get rewarded!

Played on 5/8/08. Course was in good condition. The greens weren't as fast as I've heard. The weather was perfect with no wind. Very nice course but you have to be able to pick your spots and be accurate-- there's a lot of lateral hazzards.

Played Saturday morning and course was in very good condition. only one thing missing-the wind! For the first time recently there was no wind, I hope that is a sign of the changing seasons and we are out of the woods there until Fall.
Play was a little slow and we had to wait on a few tees, but we still got the round finished in 4 1/2 hours so I guess you can't complain.
Greens were in great shape and rolling true also.

Everything was great with one tiny exception...the unbelievably strong wind. It was about 50/50 where you had holes into the wind and holes at your back. But it's still a great track and cannot wait to play it in 2 weeks.

My 2nd time here but my 1st playing the Valley Course. Driving in the wind picked up ALOT coming from Burbanks which made for quite an interesting round.
The course itself was in immaculate shape. Luscious green fairways and the greens were playing to a 10 on the stemp meter. As I said the wind made for interesting play. It was about 50/50 with the wind either with you or against you.
The pace of play was great except for 1 or 2 holes where a group in front was searching for a ball or two. But all in all, it was a great experience.
Back for more fun in 2 weeks. Hopefully with out the wind!!

Played 12/27 with a 9:30 tee time. It was a very cold, blustery day at RR. Course was in typical RR great condition. I had not played either RR course in about 10 months. Two noticable "differences" from what I had previously encountered...1.) the fairways were cut pretty tight and 2) The greens were as smooth as always, but were slower that in the past. Also noticed the greens being significantly softer, so much that you came across a fair amount of retained spike marks around the cups. Not sure if this was due to the cold, or the softer greens. The beverage cart came around ~ 6 times. I will try to get back to RR much sooner than my previous 10 month hiatus.

Very nice course. Challenges all aspects of your game from the tips. Landing areas tend to be small and precision is a must for this course's layout. Be prepaired to be very accurate and use all the clubs in your bag. Bring your better game and play with someone who is familiar with the course. It will be very helpful. Course is strongly recommended for intermidiate to advanced players. Very much target precision golf. One of the best overall courses in Los Angeles.

Tee Boxes: excellent condition. Level and lush.
Fairways: excellent condition. Soft and lush. Not much roll.
Greens: excellent condition. Well manicured and fast. Hold well.
Sand: good. Well taken care of.
Customer Service: excellent.
Practice Area: excellent facility. Hitting from mats.

The Valley is a bombers paradise. The course has dramatic elevation changes with stunning views. The greens are not as fast as they used to be but, arguably they are still the best in LA. The staff is wonderful but don't expect much from the marshall.

Play this course on 4/19/2007 Started at 12:30 pm , great course to play. The fairways remind of the kind the pro's play where the balls carrys another 30 -60 yards. Do bring a lot balls you don't want ,because if you miss the fairway, the ball is gone. The winds kick in about 2:30pm around 15 miles per hour. I did Eagle the par 5, 13 #2 handicap hole. I would play this course again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Played 3/11/07 at 12:50pm but daylight savings was changed a few hours earlier so the sun was actually at about noon. It was 85 degrees but the overriding factor was THE WIND gusting at about 15-20 mph. The course is simply beautiful and the pace was simply perfect. At the blue tees, course slope is 141 and that sure did beat us up even without the wind, which eventually ended when we were standing at the 18th tee box. Be sure to bring plenty of shag balls, this course requires that you leave your $4 Pro-V1x's in the car. :)

The bunkers were immaculate, fluffy...but not too fluffy, even after the rain. rough dormant... greens awesome... except 1st green seems faster than all the others... I love this course

Played sunday 1;00p.m. as 4 some. With prognostic of rain we got there worried but just cloudy good for golfing. When people say "HIGH END GOLF COURSE" we must refer ROBINSON RANCH GC without doubt. Commonly we think + $100.00 green fee enter to this category but not every expensive golf course got the conditions that RRGC got right now. Almost perfect condition !!! From the beggining originally we reserved valley course but I asked to less busy course at check in at pro shop ,they switched to mountain course to start at 10th tee. When we followed the starter when we saw the group ahead the starter went to see if valley was clean and came back to ask if we don't mind to play at valley is now wide open ,we said yes and finished 4hours 5minutes.Very professional & attentive part of starter.
Maintaining lush ,green, manicured fairways at this winter season is really hard to find out. From tee boxes to greens of every holes are excellent shape that really sorry to make a divot after shot. Only rough part grass are dormant yellow.
1 day before I played at green river golf course ,particuraly brought to my mind BLACK SABBATH'S SONG titled 'HEAVEN & HELL'
The best golf course of SOCAL ,no doubt......

Played both Valley and Mountain on 1/19 with an e-mail special ($59). As mentioned by others, the greens were awesome and according to the sign in the proshop 10.5. I would definately come back. The staff was excellent and the layout on both courses was great. Valley was a little more forgiving than Mountain. The courses are in great shape.

Beware of frost delays at Robie Ranch. The starter got us off 30 min later. Course is playing great. The rough is in dormant state but the fairways were great. Sand traps were good, some had great fluffy sand. The greens were @ 10.5 on the stint meter. Some holes had more ball mark repairs. Great day for golf after the frost delay.

Played 12/28, was the 3rd group out at 7:15. Got around in 4 hours and felt like we had the course to ourselves. Typical dormant winter rough at RR beautifully defines the fairways. Fairways were lush and in very good shape. The greens were typical RR smooth, still the best greens in the area. However, they have softened up a bit and are more receptive than in years past. This has improved the playability while still maintaining the smooth rolls. An overall great golf experience.

Played windy saturday 11/18/06 at 12;50 .This time I skipped their maintanence schedule(aerated greeens, punched fairways etc) & found almost perfect conditions .First look at well lined cut of fairways & brillant green colour of grass expect pleasant round of golf. As might be expected generally entire course shows good to excellent conditions.
Greens are smooth, medium fast true rolling
Fairways are silky, soft & sponge feel beatiful green colour
Bunkers where I played in 3-4 times sand quality is little bit different than others .Very soft particles if you can't hit just below the ball it's like you are hitting dust.
I don't know why this category of golf course do not install again GPS system(maybe question of business?).

Played today and course was in amazing shape-as good as I've ever seen it. The aerating and overseeding from fall have really taken with the fairways like a carpet and the greens rolling fast and true. What a difference from the last time I played here a few months ago.
I would highly recommend getting out to play the course while it is in this great shape-it is truly a different course when it is in this condition. With the heavy amount of play this course gets I don't think the shape will hold for more than a few months...although we can hope.
Only disadvantage is a little slower round (we played in 4:45 teeing off at 7:50 am) because of the current cart-path-only play.

Played 11/11/06. Beautiful course. We had great time. Greens are firm and speed is normal. Practice greens are fast but actual greens are normal. All of us had good scores on the front nice but had tough time on the back nine. We don't know why. Cart path only made the round bit slow. Wish they could install GPS system which makes the course more enjoyable. Overall, we all had good time.

Have played this course several times and played again on 8/31. The course is not in as good a shape as I have seen it before. Many of the greens had excessive ball marks, perhaps because of the summer golf season. In addition, several of the fairways had some dry patches. Overall, still a great course to play. Cart girl visited us once on each nine, and we saw the marshall a couple of times. Hopefully they will punch the greens in September and get them back to the condition I am accustomed to seeing them in.

Played both courses 8/22. This place used to be so nice, now it is quite a mess. Fairways have a lot of problems. The greens are soft and true but there are so many ball marks that it is quite frustrating because they would probably be the best greens around if people simply took the time to fix a ball mark or two!!!!

This is the first time I've played here. The course is in great condition. The fairways were a little soft in places but it was 100+ degrees. The greens were not real fast and putted true. The sand was slightly packed around the greens and some of the fairway bunkers were hard. The people that play there fill their divots and fix their ball marks...kudos!!! Since it was 100+ there were at least three cart girls out there with life-saving water; they were also very friendly...and cute. We saw the players assistant about 4 times, always friendly. I would definately play here again...or maybe try the Mountain course.

The greens were excellent, rolled smooth w/ absolutely no bumps. The fairways & tee boxes were clean. I used a 2 for 1 from the Red Dot book, so it was definitely worth the green fee. I don't know if I would have paid the entire weekend amount for this course. I would definitely compare this course to Eagle Glen in Corona, because of its exceptional views and elevated tee boxes.

played Saturday the 13th. Course is not what it used to be. No range balls with the greens fee, no GPS, no rough to speak of and beat up tee boxes. This course is not worth the $117 they charge. There are better deals and better layouts for less. I'd rather play Angeles for less and no club house.

Played today t-time 8:06 and it took 4hrs. and 50 min. because of four A HOLES two groups in front of us. After five holes thay were TWO holes behind! The group in front of us (3 players) had already call to have a marshall (what a joke) come out to get them moving and when one of our group said something to them, they started yelling at us as if we were crazy and they wanted to fight. What JURKS, just keep up with the group in front of you and no one can say a word to you! The Marshall finally did come by and we told him what happend and he did go up and they did speed up a little. It only takes one group of A Holes to mess up the coures for the rest of us.

The course is comming back from punching the greens and they are starting to pick up speed. Fairways are in good condition and you get lots of roll.

Played Sunday4/2. Round took 5:20. Called and specifically asked for condition of greens since they had been punched recently. Was told they were back to about 80%. Not even close more like 40%. They no longer give you unlimited free range balls. For $117 you get a bag of about 15 and you have to pay for more. Was told this was because of new management. Also never saw a marshall during this Looong round and never saw the cart girl after the 4th hole. There are much better values around.

played Sun. 03/05/06. got to course at 6:30am but due to frost delay I wasn't able to tee off until 8:30am. For this time of the year that should be expected. Cart path only due to the recent rains. Rough is still dormant so you're not penalized much for being a little off. Like the previous feedback mentioned ball will run through the rough if it has some kick to it. Other then the dormant rough, the course is in great shape. Greens are in good shape. Both courses are much better then the nearby TPC course and even better priced!!! Staff is extremely friendly and cart girl came around half a dozen time. Quite a drive for me but when I'm out there I will definitely return.

Tough course, get your ball in the fairway. Rough is domant right now. Even if you land on the rough the ball will roll off to the cart path and you may not find it. Fairways were awesome. Greens were firm but you can see that there are increase of ball marks. They will punch the greens soon. What a great day for golf.

For a visitor from the East Coast, the course was in immaculate condition. The greens were in great shape, with very few ball marks and the ball rolled true. The rough was dormant, thus framing the fairways and highlighting how narrow they were. The tee boxes looked as if they had not been used at all. The fairways were lush. After a round at Valley, I took in 9 holes at the Mountain Course. The Valley was more memorable because of the elevated tees and large mature trees in and around the fairways. Valley is definitely a resort caliber course.

Valley course played typically tough this morning, and slower than I recall it playing. The fairways are in great shape and the greens are just what you'd expect at Robinson Ranch - fast, tricky, smooth, firm but receptive, and rolling a heck of a lot faster than the practice green, at least in my experience today.

Bring some game to this course, especially when it's windy, or expect a long, frustrating day.

Played the valley course today. I was paired with 3 other singles.
The course played nicely. It was cartpath only. I fininshed my round
in just over 4 hours. I think the course is about 2 to 3 more weeks
away from being immaculate. You still need a ball with some decent
spin around the greens. I didn't have any ProVs and used the Callaway
Hot ball. It's great off the tee but, doesn't hold on these greens. I played with one of the staff members, Chuck, and he was very pleasant.

Played tournament 9/17/05 at noon.
Now I found one problem here ,yardage markers.
After elimination of GPS system their yardage markers of ground are not correct. Only one step (1 yard) of difference they have 2 different yardage (1 of main indicate like 100,150.200 & other of sprinkler style more specificate) saying one 125 other 133 that nobody knows which one you believe.Other than this as always nothing to complain.

played yest. 8/16 and the course was a decent condition. most bunkers are still in poor condition, on some holes they were really working on them. greens rolled well and fairways were okay. difficult day with the wind rolling through, but overall another great experience. staff is alway's very friendly and accomadating.

Played 8/14 in a 36 hole tournament. Course is in absolutely great shape. These are the best greens I ever play. Very tough course, really no rough, just fairway and either hazard or o.b. Lots of elevation changes. Only problem were inconsitancy in some of the traps, some had lots of soft sand, some were hardpan. Excellent service, really a beautiful course.

Played 6/17. As always, RR was a challenge and enjoyable round. Fairways and tee boxes were lush though a handful of hole were cartpath only. Greens were fast and true to RR's standards. Only negatives: sand traps were in awful shape as past post noted...concrete and inconsistent. Most important: RR NO LONGER HAS GPS!!!

What a great lay out! Really enjoyed this course. Fast and firm greens, don't over read the breaks. I ended up in the sand 3 times today. Sand traps were bad. They were not raked after watering the greens so it was very packed and hard. One of the traps was like hitting on concrete. That was my only pet peeve. Love this course. Course management is the key. Good clubhouse, food, friendly cart ladies just a beautiful day for golf.

My third time playing this course and i was disappointed on how the greens and fairways look. Greens still roll true and fast, but it has a lot of divot marks compared to the first and second time i played this course. Fairways are ok, but the grass seems kinda long. I feel the fairways should be cut a little shorter. Mountain course in my opinion has better conditions right now.

I play here regularly and have played the valley 3 times in the last 2 weeks. The course is in good shape 8 of 10. It's worth the price af admission as long as you can afford a $100 round. I spend 7 to 8 hours here every time I play. Balls are included in the fee so you can warm up before and do some work after your round. The putting green is also realistic to the courses. These courses have weathered the rains well and are only going to get better this summer.

I played the course @ 12:30pm with a gaggle of coworkers .... WIND CITY! As my first trip around, it's pretty good track .... however, the greens are punched, and for the regular weekday fee, they SUCK. Pardon my language --- but, PLEEEASE.... Angeles National would respect your patronage and give REDUCED RATES when playing on aerated greens .... and please don't bring up the cart GPS system (hahahahahaha), I feel they were 'taken' by some cheesy salesman. The GPS system @ Lake Elizabeth is the real deal!

Robinson Ranch is holding up really well. We do have some damage to the front 9 of the valley course but we will continue to have 27 holes open Monday through Friday and 36 holes open on the weekends. We will be playing hole #2 on the Valley as a Par 3 instead of a 4. Other than that, the greens and fairways are in great shape and the rough is dormant. Construction is scheduled to be done by April 1, weather permitting.

Played a super twi-light round on Sunday 2/13. Got off the 1st tee (Hole #10) at 2:00 and finished 18. The back 9 is in great shape, no real damage to the playing surfaces. However, that dry creek bed that cuts in front of #13 must have been a raging river. It eroded away a 10 foot deep 40 foot wide channel, it was a pretty impressive site to see what mother nature could do when she gets upset...... Many of he bunkers had standing water, not a surprise due to the amount of water that the course took on in the preceeding days. The greens were a little slower than normal RR greens, still a little soft.

The front 9 played a little wet and has some ground under repair. #2 was playing as a par 3, but to tell you the truth, I do not see why the hole could not be played from the regular tees (we played it from the regular tees!). #4 is very wet and muddy in the landing zones and needs some time to dry out (do not try and cut the corner over the hill, it is all mud on the other side). No other damage noted. The front 9 greens seemed to play much faster, relative to the back, and were typical RR greens for this time of the year.

Well worth the super twi light rate of $45 when you can get in all 18.

Course is in great shape. Not only do you need to find the fairways, but you need to find the "right" part of the fairways. With the dormant bermuda rough, the ball rolls thru much of it (with the excpetion of the heavy rough around the greeens). Many of the hazards have hills or mounds directing the ball right into it. To score well here, you MUST play conservative.

A great deal with coupons, nut not worth the standard rack rates.

Played both courses 11/16 for $85 with coupons from golfq.com. A good deal at that price. The Valley course is in great shape after the recent over seeding and rains. Still cart path only. This course is a great test of golf, but can be enjoyed by all. Pick your set of tees wisely. Don't be over confident, or you might regret it!!

Played sunday 10;40 .Course has few people (cause of high rate of green fee or rainy weather ?) Pretty old fashioned GPS & indifferent outside working staff. But golf course condition recover all of these. Excellent greens smooth, fast, true .Also very nice fairway .After finishing at 3;20 p.m. replayed mountain for $25. Played until 6th hole and was good as valley.

Played the valley course 10-12-04 and the course was in excellent shape. Cart paths only because of the overseeding but that was no problem. This is a lot of golf course and would recomend that beginers and women not to attempt this course. Used Red book and played for half price.

Played yesterday on the Valley and the drizzle kept away the crowds so I played with a friend as a twosome and we didn't see another golfer all day. Let me say this:

Wow!

I was cart path only but with no one around we could talk all day so it was not a problem The greens, the fairways and the tee boxes were awesome! I've played there many times in the past and this time it was off the charts. And to top it off I used red-dot and played for $43! It was about as good an experience as I've ever had on a golf course.

BTW, I was 1 over on 'Death 'Row'...

Today is the first day the Valley is open after overseeding, and it's in excellent shape considering the work. The greens are healing nicely from aeration but are still VERY sandy and need another two weeks to be flawless and fast again. This is only the second time I've played the valley course and I am really looking forward to coming back. If they grew up some rough (don't know if that's possible for winter), it would be one very tough course.

I love RR, and we had a great time. The people and surroundings are amazing.

The fairways are kind of hurting right now, with some areas having very little or no grass at all. I guess it's a heat thing? Last time I played they were wonderful. I'm sure they'll get it under control again... Still a great track with people thtat can;t be beat.

Heritage Golf did not acquire RR as previously noted. The deal fell through at the last minute due to “water related” issues at RR. This was very evident while playing the Valley course on 8/16. The Greens, 17/18 tee boxes, and sand traps were of typical high RR quality. While ~90% of the fairways were lush, hardpan and thinned out areas could be found scattered throughout. It did detract from the beauty of the course, but only came into play for me on 2 drives. I moved the ball laterally or back to a lush area within 10 feet. The conditions are not nearly as bad as last year. Played for the resident rate of $59 on a Monday and felt that it was still a good deal. I would go back if this work thing did not keep getting in the way.

I played both courses today. Mountain in the morning, Valley after lunch.

Well, gotta say I was a little surprised and disappointed at the conditions today. The greens are great and roll very true, if you can smooth out the ball marks. The fairways were more brown than green with some bare spots, and rough even more brown. The bunkers were pretty good, a few had a lot of nickel sized rocks.

I like the layout of the Valley a lot. The staff is always great.

Played both sides today. The Valley is longer than the Mountain and there are a couple of holes where an oak tree sits in the middle of the fairway. That makes for some tricky second shots. Read a negative comment on that fact but thats the "rub of the green" as they say. Greens were just as good on the Valley as the Mountain. The fringes were being aerated and the plugs were left there. Don't know if that was intentional or had the not had a chance to clean out the area. I say some of the workers sanding some fringes that they had cleaned the plugs from. That is my only negative comment about the Valley.

Got a nice discount from golf909.com.Staff was outstanding, they let us switch courses and tee off early.Don't play Valley course unless you have your A-game or play the forward tees.Don't be above the hole and club down and stay in front.Lots of scares from ball marks but greens in good shape.Price on weekends is tough to swallow but I guess its normal for the valley.

Played early afternoon on Jul 11. The greens had a significant amount of topsoil on them; they should be better in about a week. Got a $100 fee for 2 people thru golf949.com, and b/c we had that deal, the course was worth the fee. At their regular rates, the course is not worth the price. It's a tight course; we left driver in the bag most of the day. The layout is just ok, and on several holes, not good at all. For example, #9 has a large oak tree in the middle of the fairway. One of our partners hit a ball to the right of the tree, dead in the middle of the fairway, but still didn't have a clear 2nd shot b/c of overhanging branches. On another hole, we deliberately played to the wrong fairway in order to avoid a dogleg left into the wind, and still had a good look at the hole. That really shouldn't be an option. The 90 degree rule applies on this course, but on several holes, it does not apply. This really destroys rhythm. The carts have a poor GPS system, and they don't sell yardage books. And there are a number of blind shots. It's a bad combination. The staff is terrific - the service was excellent. But when you compare to PGA Oak Valley, La Purisima, etc., this is definitely a notch below. If you pay anymore than $60-70 to play, you've paid too much.

Played both the Mountain and Valley courses on 6/29. I was a little dissapointed with the conditions of the valley. Started to see some hard pan in a few fairways and some were aerated to help with the conditioning. Greens and tees are still immaculate. Lots of grass clippings in the rough surrounding the par 3 14th. Still my favoriate course.
The staff was saying that Heritage golf was buying the facility from Troon and just about every scenario had them taking at least the valley course private. So if you enjoy this course, or are considering playing it, go out now before it is too late.

They must have added sand to the bunkers, I was in several of the greenside bunkers and they were all in good condition. Agree with previous comment that the greens tended to hold more shots than on previous outings. Course is in great condition. See no signs of last year’s water shortage. Well worth the value when using the GolfQ.com coupons.

Course is in very good condition right now. The greens are extremely consistent and fast, however they were still receptive. The fairways were perfect, the rough was pretty good, and the sand was decent.

Just a great course. It has been re-rated by the USGA and now on paper is even more difficult. I don't believe it's as difficult as the ratings suggest.

Played both the Valley & Mountain courses today for only $60 (total) with a coupon from golfq.com. That was the best $60 I ever spent. The entire experience was perfect, from the weather, to the course conditions, and the service. RR should be on everyone’s must play list right now. I have played the Valley course about 5 times in the last 6 months, but this was my first time on the Mountain course. Valley is one of the best tracks around and will continue to be my preferred course. Mountain requires some precision shot making and offers some very challenging holes. But I prefer the way Valley meanders thru the hills and valleys of Sand Canyon giving you the sense that no one else around. Valley does not have that same feel as you are against some private properties, roads, maintenance buildings etc...
For what it is worth....while we were having a few cold ones in the bar at the end of the day we noticed they were applying a light top dressing to the 18th on Valley.

Valley course in great shape. The fairways have totally recovered from the burned-out condition of last summer. I guess they are finally paying for water. And the greens. What can one say? Absolutely the best in LA! The traps have gotten thin. Need more sand. The pace of play on weekends is way too slow. 5 1/2 hrs! What are the marshalls doing? But overall, well worth the price.

Played the Valley course on 2/8 and the memories from last year came rushing back. What a great venue! Fastest greens I've played in the area and a layout that really makes you think. This was our last stop for this trip and having your game a little sharper really helps cause just being in short grass is not always good enough. If you can place it on the right side of the fairway the holes really open up. We were the 1st 2sm on a Sun morn and played it in just over 3 hrs despite encountering maintenance on every hole. This is a must play even at full weekend rates.

Super conditions!!! This golf course is beautifully maintained from tee to green. Make sure to purchase a red dot discount book to play this course at half the price even though this course is worth its current price. With 2 18 hole golf course, this facility is still very crowded during the weekends. The only setback is that the wind can be very trecherous throughout the round.

Enjoyed my round on the valley course last week so much, I came back to play a twi-light round on Sunday ($60 after 12:00 with coupons from golfq.com). The rains softened up the greens and slowed them down just a tad from what they were last week. Some long shots held that would have rolled through before the rains. Nothing changed from my comments made last week, an absolutely great course in a great setting, a must play. I did forget to mention something last week..... when I made the reservation, I was told that the range would be closed that morning for maintenance and was asked if I wanted another tee time after the range opened. Many courses would not offer up that info when the reservations are made.

Played twilight saturday. Got off at 12:30 and were the last group to finish on 18 before darkness. Pace was a little slow, but still finished in 4.5 hours.

Course is in amazing shape right now. Greens are just about perfect. Fast, true, and not too firm so that long irons and woods would stick!

The rough is dormant (brown) right now, so the fairways really stand out. The rough is shot, but around the greens can be a tricky.

The fairways are immaculate. Lush, consistent. Some divot damage, but it has been cart path only every time I've played since the reseeding in October, so that's to be expected.

The course is definitily worth the $60 twilight fee.

Awesome!! Course is in great shape. I strongly agree with everything JohnnyGK reported a week back. Course is tough, but not unfair. RR claims they have the "fastest greens in the west", and I would have to agree. It was fun to play on greens so smooth and true. Played on Tuesday with coupons from www.golfq.com that allowed 2-somes to play for $85 total. There is not a better deal around!!

My Golf Buddy convinced me to return and play the Valley course. It was more enjoyable since we got out early and the course was more to my liking than the Mountain course. The rough is brown on both courses but fairways and greens were in great condition. Selecting the right club based on the wind is the key to playing both Robinson Ranch courses.

Man, this golf course is in super shape. A few months ago, it had dry fairways, now, its lush and beautiful. The greens are perfect, very fast and true. Sand quality was great. Difficulty of this golf course is the driving part. If you can keep your drives on the fairways 60 percent of the time, a good score should be in stored. Used a 2 for 1 coupon from red dot that made today's round really enjoyable.

Fairways very thin and some bare spots still exist but they are slowly coming back a bit. Greens are great but ball marks need to be repaired. Fellow players always repair your divots and when you see divots that have been overlooked or not repaired properly take the time to repair them even if they are not yours! Greens roll very true and are quite fast.

As with all first timers, I have to agree with all the comments about this cousre. Great layout, great greens, very poor fairways. I really didn't like the big oaks in my landing areas on more than a few holes. As stated by many others, wait for the fairways to come back before trying, unless a big discount is offered.

I played today and yes, the fairways are a little brown due to the lack of water at the course. But this course is great anyway. These are easily the best greens i have ever played on. They spin on your approach shots and roll fast and true when you putt. Im a junior so it was only 20 dollars, but I had to walk in 100+ degree heat. It was definatley worth it though. This course will be outstanding when the fairways go back to normal.
I dont know why this course is rated like a 4 right now, even with the dead fairways it is a lot better than that. I fired a 72 even with the "terrible" fairways you guys talk about. This course is not as hard as you guys say it is. It is pretty tough but it is not unfair or rediculous. I will definatley be back.

Played the valley course the day before
father's day, as a treat to myself. What a
dissappointment! Fairways were terrible-
being thin and brown-out.
Greens were adequate,however, I would
rate my first and probable only visit to this
course as "disappointing". I know it may have
its seasons, but for an "unprivate club that
plays like one",it ain't worth it. Hate to say
it but, even on a discounted visit it came up
woefully short of my expectations.

I don't think I have seen a course in this kind of condition in a long time. This course makes Knollwood look like Augusta.

Played yesterday, 7/1, and as reported the fairways are a mess. We played with a member who told us that the main water pump broke early in the season, and it took a few weeks to get it fixed right. And of course, by then it was too late.

Besides having to find a patch of grass to hit from in the fairway, I thought the course was great. We played both courses, and we liked the Valley much better, although the Mountain's fairways were in slightly better shape. The only design element that I wasn't so fond of was the big tree in the fairway of number 9, but then again, I hit my drive in the junk on the right, so it wasn't what caused my double bogey. The greens were outstanding. The card in the clubhouse said they were rolling at 11. But they were true. What fun to have putts go where you aim them.

I'll definately be back in the fall when the fairways are back in... nice course, truly great greens, nice isolated location, great staff and facilities.

Played on 6-15-03. The staff and facilities are great. Excellent range, clubhouse and snack bar facilities. The course, however, was another issue. If you like desert/target golf, you might like this course. However, b/c of the designer's well-intentioned efforts toward environmental concerns, be prepared for inconsistent fairway conditions. They let the Bermuda grass fairways stay brown here, and in many places, it is ROCK HARD. That condition results in increased roll, so many of the holes play much shorter than the scorecard indicates (if the wind is down, which it was during our round). The layout of the course is overly penal in nature. Be prepared, if you're an average golfer, to lose a couple of sleeves. After the round, I am now an expert in desert flora and fauna. It was brutal to see fairly decent shots punished so harshly. For example on 18, there is a pretty waterfall guarding the green on the right, but absolutely no bailout area on the left. You either hit a terrific high shot to a firm green, or lose it right and left. It is a tight, tight course, and the wind was down when we played. Finally, the GPS was terrible. The "computer" layout of the hole was virtually worthless, and the scorecard didn't show the hole layout either. Plus, they don't sell yardage books. So, as a first timer, be prepared to simply guess where you're supposed to hit the ball.

I got a chuckle from some of the first time players at this course. It does require a few times playing it and a handicap under 18 to enjoy. I've never putted on better greens nor have I been so proud of breaking 90. Try it more than once and you'll learn to love it.

P.S. Don't use the driver for every par 4 or 5 and read the golf cart monitors before each hole.

Played Robinson Ranch on 5.3.03. I have to say, the layout of the course is great and the views are nice but the course was not in the best of conditions. Everything was dried up. The ball marks on the green were brown and dry. The area's around the green were hard as a rock and the bunkers did not have a whole lot of sand in them. I'll probably wait till the Fall to play this course again.

Love, love, love RR. I played the Valley the other day in winds of 15-20 mph, and it was so challenging. The course is very rewarding when the wind is still. BEWARE of RR when the wind blows, course plays about 5 strokes harder.

Without a doubt one of the best courses in Southern California. As mrobertson (below) found out, this couse is about course management and accuracy. It can be difficult and without a doubt gets more and more fun the more you play it, once you become familiar with the holes. It's always in great shape and the service rivals any country club. I've taken lessons from the on-site pro, Les Johnson, for several years and, in my mind, he's a genius. Knocked 12 strokes off my game. (FYI, discount coupons can be found at www.golfQ.com)

This could be the most FRUSTRATING and UNFAIR golf course I have ever played. It’s ridiculous how many times you hit your ball in the fairways only to find it has rolled through the fairway and rough and into a hazard. You’ve got to of played this thing like 10 times before you come close to understanding where exactly you need to place your tee shot and with what club. Being my first time playing the course over the weekend, I had no chance. I would have been better off leaving my driver in the bag and hitting 5-irons off the tee. I did like the condition of the course and staff. Don’t think I’ll be back although. I’d rather play Lost Canyons for the same price.
