The only thing I can say good about this course is the greens are in good shape. They are big, with lots of undulations, and can be difficult to 2 putt if you are on the wrong tier, but they do roll nicely, unlike the greens at Eldo or Rec Park.

Still it took almost 6 hours to play on Saturday, having to wait at virtually every tee box. Whatever happened to tee times every 10 minutes and that country club experience.

Definitely not worth $38 to walk on the weekends, and that is the resident rate. Non residents pay even more.

a little different after renovation. They simplified many of the fairways. Removed the two sand traps on hole 2 and moved them to the left. Modified some of the holes like the par 5 hole 3, no more trouble far right only traps come into play on second shot on right side. But the killer are the greens. Almost all greens are three tiered. Expect major trouble if you find yourself on the wrong side. Major breaks. Simple tip follow contour as best you can to get ball path on green otherwise. Greens are firm and allow for folks there NOT to fix their divots.

Fairways and Rough are bermuda and are just coming out of dormancy. Once rough grows, it's going to be brutal. Excellent service and greens are in wonderful shape.

Walked on as a threesome. Starter got us out within a half hour. Greens are playing firm and show no signs of aeration. One of the most challenging municipal greens and bunkers in the LA/Long Beach area. Unfortunately the rest of the course is average at best. The fairways remind me of courses where sod is placed over landfill and never takes. Many dead spots and divot damage. I can't believe i'm saying this but for the price i rather play Victoria.

I played tuesday mar 29. The resident super twilight starts at 2 pm. $16.00! I teed off as a single and caught up to a twosome for the back nine. This is my third round since the re opening. I like the course. Yes they did raise the price, and yes, long beach residents do get a decent break in relation to non-residents (non residents super twilight isn't until 4 pm!), but Skylinks is a much tougher, fun test of golf than it was before. I like the new course. It is similar to the old skylinks, but overall a great improvement. They did just aerate a couple weeks ago, and the greens are not back yet. Givve it a couple weeks!

As a member of Skylinks Men's Club I have played here several times both pre and post re-do. They gave us a very, very nice golf course and compared to our old course a fantastic course. It will only get better with age if American Golf keeps it's promise and cares for it properly.
