From 3/17/24 Enjoyed another round of golf at OCC a few weeks ago. Again loved the experience and conditions. As previously reported, OCC is a mature championship style course that features large mature trees that line fairways strategically. The course is primarily flat and includes a large wash that comes into play on at least 6 holes. This is certainly a walkable course for all. OCC places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The rough on this course will kill your score if you miss fairways and greens. The course is also well bunkered on both fairways and along greens. Greens were soft, always held good shots, and ran fast. The course offers views of the Glendale Mountains. The course played it's yardage, fairways offered little roll out on drives. The course was very well manicured and in excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 4.25 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.75 out of 5. I note the following: Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Perfect. Fairways: Green and lush. Almost perfect. Greens: Green, fast in speed, and on the firmer side. Some of the best greens I've played, almost perfect. Speed about a 11 – 11.5. Sand: Well maintained, soft, and heavy. Explosion approach needed. Rough: rough was brutal by design. Very well maintained and defined, about 4 - 6 inches with bury effect. Waste Areas: - Waste areas were noted on a handful of holes and were well maintained overgrown nature with little to no recovery potential. Driving Range: The range was also very nice, hitting off an artificial turf surface on this day. Range is flat, fully grassed, with various markers from 100 - 250 yards. Range balls were premium Callaway golf balls. Practice Putting Green: Not too large, but in excellent condition. Speed was consistent with course. POP: 3.5 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole. Other: from locker rooms, bars, restaurant, and the golf shop, all were top tier. I always love playing here when given the opportunity, this course is always in excellent shape, and offers a great test of golf. It defines itself well as a Players Course. If given the opportunity, don't miss out on playing OCC.

Excellent day of golf at Oakmont CC. Enjoyed a round of golf at OCC, and all I can say is; She is a Classic Beauty! OCC is a mature championship style course that features large mature trees that line fairways strategically. The course is primarily flat and includes a large wash that comes into play on at least 6 holes. This is certainly a walkable course for all. Like most private courses in LA County, the land use is maximized to accommodate the golf course. OCC places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The rough on this course will kill your score if you miss fairways and greens. You need to avoid it at all cost, or pray for good lies. This course puts real emphasis between its narrow to mid-sized fairways and rough. The course is also well bunkered on both fairways and along greens. Greens were fairly firm, always held good shots, and ran fast. The course is primarily flat with the exception on holes 1 and 3 which had mild elevation changes. The course offers views of the Glendale Mountains and localized housing, which are both very attractive. The course played it's yardage, fairways offered very little roll out on drives. Rode the whites in the Beyond the Bell Event Sponsored by Liberty Mutual. I got an invite from my boss. We all no there is no such thing lol, so I went. This is an old school country club surrounded by beautiful older homes. I’m usually into checking out the clubhouse, but today for some reason I didn’t. Staff was friendly in the pro shop as well as the event staff. Having played Valencia CC last Monday I had something to compare it to. I was impressed with the practice facilities here. They have a nice, flat grass range and an excellent short game area. Tee boxes, fairways and rough were what you expect from a private course. The private courses have stolen all the good sand, those were nice here as usual. The greens were ok, they were medium speed, not very impressive. The course reminds me a little of Brookside, with slower greens. I would recommend if you have the chance to play.

Had the pleasure of playing here yesterday. A friend of mine was celebrating his 1000th course played and the SCGA helped arrange a special round at Oakmont. I was lucky enough to be invited as part of his foursome, which was treated to a round and lunch at the club. We teed off a little after 8:00, just ahead of a ladies member tournament. We never caught up to anyone ahead and never had anyone behind, so we enjoyed our own relaxed yet brisk pace of around 3 hours. The course was in excellent condition, highlighted by perfect greens. They were rolling super pure and very fast. The tee boxes were great. The fairways were also really nice. The grass here is some sort of bermuda hybrid (I think), so it's not deep green color in the fairways but plays really well with plenty of rollout and a fluffy pad of turf under every shot. The rough is super lush and deep green. It is thick and nasty. Balls were sometimes hard to find and it was just punitive enough. It seems so rare to see deeper rough in SoCal these days, so it was fun to have some real rough for once. The bunkers were beautifully maintained, as well. They did some massive turf reduction here in recent years, so there are also a lot of coarse desert sand waste areas here. It's not too hard to play from unless you find a bush, but adds a different look that what I imagine used to be wall-to-wall grass throughout the property. The facilities are nice and traditional as you might expect at an old club like this. The staff was wonderful and treated our group so well all day. We definitely felt like members for the day. The course layout is fun and challenging. Parts of it feel a bit shoehorned into the property that has obviously been encroached upon by civilization in the past 100 years. There is a big cement canal that runs through the middle of the property a la Brookside and also a number of power towers/lines in play. These take away a little from the otherwise great aesthetic presentation. The layout is fairly tight with plenty of trees in play and some tricky doglegs. It's just a nice classic SoCal course that has a few old school quirks, but still holds up well in the modern game. Highly recommended if you ever have a chance to play!!!

Had the opportunity to play with member friends last week. I was very impressed with Oakmont from start to finish. While “country club” doesn’t always mean better or consistent conditions, or even better service, I can confidently say I liked everything about here. It’s a little older and not so glamorous, but that’s okay. Members and staff were nice, attentive. Check in was easy and the overall code seems relaxed. Casually teed off on time, good enough tee boxes, nice fairways, thick rough and excellent sand. The greens were fast and smooth, soft enough to hold shots, hard enough to punish you if you skip one. Flag sticks had the logo with a nice diagonal seperation of white and dark red and were really easy to see as well as having the laser prisms. Carts were the super padded bucket seat kind and had ice chests. No GPS. Tree lined with just enough width and just enough tightness, just enough traps and enough deviation really made it a pleasure to play. I kept telling our playing partners’ “something here just feels right”. Established somewhere like 1922-23 I believe, it felt like a nice traditional course. Excellent bathrooms with everything you need to freshen up before dinner... which was excellent and very well priced. Perfect high 80’s and light wind. Aside from my play... Perfect day.
