I have played this course alot over the past 10 years, and I also know not to expect to much from a muni course, but the greens are usually in good shape and fairly fast, they re-punched them in the begining of May and they are the worse that I have ever putted on. Very inconsistent and very bumpy, had at least three or four putts actually bounce up four to five inches while on line!
I am not sure what is going on, I usually brag about how nice this course is for the money and the how good the condition are!
I won't be playing there any time soon again until this is resolved, sad!

Great weekend rates... $37 to walk. But at 10am on Sunday, it took almost 5.5 hours to complete 18 holes. The pace is too slow!

Some times they work on getting the course in good shape, and then they stop for fo 2 to 3 weeks . This week they let the greens dry up large brown spots. The Tee boxes also dried up large bare spots. Put all this aside I love this course. The 19th Green Side cafe is a great place to have a drink with your friends.
The bartenders Debbie and Greg treat everyone great.

Currently working on the 14th green, there is a temp - probably going to be completed in a couple of weeks. Tee boxes uneven most of the course, 17 of 18 holes. Greens bumpy and made the putts roll funny. Got out @ 0830 and finished @ 1230, not too shabby for Dad's on any day.

The course is in good shape overall. The weakness was the tee boxes, they are a little chewed up right now. Still a great course to come get in a round.

The greens were punched a couple of weeks ago and are still very bumpy, punch marks are still visible and haven't filled in. The course is in OK shape given this time of year. I'm not a big fan of this course, I've played this course a lot over the years and I find it a bit boring... but don't let this detour you from playing there, it's an OK course.

Played "Dad" yesterday and it was just ok. For those that have played here in the past you know that "Dad" is nothing special and just a basic muni. The only thing I was disappointed with was myself for not looking on this site for a "maintenance alert". The greens were punched about a week ago, and they were very bumpy and slow!!!! But that is what you get with punched greens, so I am not complaining. Fairways are coming around, but still a little thin. Tee boxes were lush, but the grass was a little long for my taste, but not bad. The sand traps were wet, but seemed once they dried out that they would be very playable and nice. Pace of play was great, with very few waits. The groups that played about an hour after we did probably had longer waits because of a seniors tournament, and they were slow. But you have to hand it to some of the people we saw playing, I only hope I can lift a club at their age. The service was good and saw marshalls on the course. The starter at the tee box was as friendly as they get, a real people person. Overall not a bad day.

Well, if you've played it there's not much to say other than the greens are in good shape and the fairways a bit thin right now. Fairly flat, short course with not much difficulty, typical muni, but you can get in trouble if you're careless. It's 'whatcha see is whatcha get' kinda golf ... simple and straight foreward. The par 5 15th can be reachable with a good drive or you can end up wet and settle for bogey. No starter issues and the lady who served us was fantastic (Debbie).

The course was in decent shape, both lush and bare spots in the fairway. Greens were nice and quick but unfortunately there were many divots due to lazy golfers. The POP was also pretty decent. The only negative I have about this place is the starter and staff. A very cocky starter whose wise ass remarks did not sit well with my group and I. I mean if he hates his job so much, he should just quit. Other than that, I would rate the course a 3 out of 5.

I don't usually write a review on customer service only, but what I experienced/witnessed yesterday at Dad Miller still has me amazed. My Dad and I arrived about 50 minutes before our tee time and I decided to check in early just in case we could get out. About 4 people in front of me went to the desk and said he was there for a 9:19 tee time and the man behind the desk said that is impossible because they had a tournament there until 10:00. I had the 9:33 tee time and the guy in front of me had a 9:20 something time. Well the guy behind the desk said we are out of luck and we all must be at the wrong course, and we responded with "all of us?". As tempers started to elevate and we asked when we could get out the starter told us "maybe sometime later if I can fit you in" and when we asked what about our tee times we were given, he said, hold on for this one, "it's not his problem, you are the ones that made the reservations". So basically, we were at fault because we decided to make a tee time during a tournament. All three groups left as the guy behind the counter smiled. I wish I could say that I made this up or was dreaming, but I'm not. I think all any of us wanted was an apology and told that there must have been a mistake made, but all we were told was that it was our fault that we made a reservation during a tournament.

Played the course while my wife was attending a medical conference in Anaheim. Course fairly straightforward, short, open and not the greatest challenge. Staff was friendly except for one fat barmaid with a disdainful condescending attitude. Not sure why she feels she is better than everyone else. Left her a two dollar tip for 6 dollars worth of drinks. She shoved it in the tip jar without saying thanks.

I played this local gem 9/27. The greens were shaggy, bumpy and in need of the scheduled maintenance. They are due to be punched on 10/8 and 10/09. The pace of play can be slow even on weekdays but is not unbearable. My major complaint is the lack of courtesy by the grounds crew. The mower guys are oblivious and rive out in front of those on the tees. Weed wackers and blowers are started and operated in close proximity to the greens while people are putting. The upside is there is an unrestricted internet coupon on the website under promotions that lowers the cost for $33.75 per golfer

Played last Tuesday and Thursday, overal the course is in great shape compared to most of the muni courses in the area, They have posted that they intend to punch the greens on Tuesday the 9th of October. So heads up if you are planning to play there after this date! Still one of the best values for 18 holes @ $25.00 for walking!

Nice course for the cost - farely flat, and forgiving - with a mix of subtle dog legs that reward ability to shape shots off the tee. Would definatley play again, but wouldn't make a special trip to revisit.

Walked on today at 10:30am, played with a great foursome, never anyone in front of us , never had to wait, beautiful day, cool breeze, course is in really good condition for a popular muni course! Finished our round in 3hrs and 40mins.Wow! that doesn't happen often. Fair price for walking @ $24.00/round. Gotta have a hotdog and a beer at the turn. There hotdogs are the best.

Played on 6/3 (Sunday). It has been a long time since I played Dad but, man it is always fun. Just so long, almost 6hrs? This course is too short for that type of wait.
Staff was good and the course was in good condition.

I will have to visit more often, during the week.

Four hour round is rare - even for foursomes here. This would help - on #15 drop in a large diameter culvert pipe and fill the ditch in with dirt! this alone would take 15 to 30 minutes off a round. Get a hold of Tiger and ask him to underwrite the cost of filling the ditch on #15. Failing that put alligators in the ditch so people will stop going in there to look for balls! dand

Greens were little bumpy. Especially No. 15 that had severe bumps and damage due to ball divots. Some greens were bumpy and others were not. Not sure it this was due to aerating the greens.

Just a heads up, Dad Miiler punched there greens again on Monday and Tuesday(5/2 & 5/3). Went to play and was suprised as they had punched them at the beginning of March! Decided to drive to Lakewood, walked right on as a single, gotta love that! Overall the course was in good condition, greens were a little bumpy, they punch the week before Easter.

First off I must say I shot very good yesterday, well for me that is. Enough about me, I once played "dad" on a regular basis when I was fairly new to golf, but now I find the course to play very short. Most clubs stay in the bag. Most holes were driver, wedge, putter. The course is very green right now, but I think they need to mow everything lower. The greens were very soft and hairy and slow. I could have subtracted 5 strokes off my game if down hill putts would actually roll. The greens were bumpy in some areas because of the length. "dad" might be doing this because of the type of people that frequent the course (beginners, elderly), and if the greens were fast and didn't hold a shot as easily as they did, it could add another half hour onto and already long round. Tee boxes could be mowed a little better, some of my irons on par 3's would sink into the grass about half way up the iron face. Don't get me wrong, it is what it is, an easy course designed for beginners and shorter hitters.

I didn't have my pc connected before going to Dad Miller, so I didn't get the word that the greens were punched 2 weeks ago. I wasn't upset that they were slow, I was upset that they were so different from each other. Slow on some, really slow on others. On the bright side the pace of play was great for a Saturday.

played today 2/7/2007 weds

4some started out at about 10:30, finished right around 3.

Tee boxes on the most part were ok, but some it was real hard to find a green spot to hit off of. Decently level i guess.

Fairways were very brown, but thats typical for winter golf.

Traps were fine. decent sand

greens were very bumpy. looks like they airaded not too long ago. pretty good on ball marks being fixed. Fringe was not is very good shape on most of the holes.

could have easily played a more local course for the same price or cheaper with these type of conditions. I suppose the course would have been more fun if there were better conditions.

Dad Miller is in good shape for this time of year. The fairways, of course, are hard giving low and topped shots a chance to run a ways. The greens are in good shape; fast with the hole placed near the back mostly. Fun place to play with a short drive to get there.

"Plain vanilla" muni... but fun. Played yesterday, 1/9/07. I had not played here in 15 years so it was all new to me - They have made some changes due to the Tiger Woods Center and the really long par-5 on the back has been shortened...but - for what it is - it's still a pretty fun track.

Certainly not a country club, conditions-wise or scenery-wise, but - it's sure worth the greens-fee!

The fairways were a little thin in spots....the greens were a bit bumpy...but as I said....it's a typical muni.

I can honestly say this is a friendly course. And not just because Tiger played his high school years here. The grounds are well kept and the greens are smooth but not easy. I just joined the Mens Club and havn't play with the fellas yet (this Sat. will be my intro day) BUT LOOK FORWARD TO PLAYING HERE REQULARLY. Well worth the green fee.

I play this course often, usually on Sunday mornings. I normally tee off around 8 AM and we're usually done in 4 hrs and 20 mins. The course is for the most part in good condition, especially, the greens. The changes on the back nine (#15, #16 & #17) are a welcomed addition and has given the course more character. If you're looking to get some exercise while working on your game, this is the place to do it. Holes #4, #10 & #15 are all reachable (good for the ego but not the handicap). Have fun!

Overall it's a OK course in good shape but but but but... 6 hours 15 minutes... this was the SLOWEST round I have ever played. I won't go back unless it's during the week. The service was borderline "OK"... I'm not sure who the guy was that helped us, maybe the club pro (talked about lessons to one person), about 5' 6" early 30's; this guy has an attitude, maybe he was having a bad day. He made rude crude comments about quite a few people AFTER they left the pro shop. If you don't have anything good to say about someone, keep it to yourself but never say it loud enough that other people (in the Pro Shop) can hear you. I wonder what comment he made about me... I'm sure it couldn't have been any good! Final word... the slow play is not worth the price.

This is one of the best courses to work on your game. (Ala Tiger Woods) It can offer a variety of shots but the course is not too demanding.
Any first time players should enjoy a challenge from this course, were as the more seasoned golfers will get a good work out with the ability to go low. It can be a real cofidence booster.
Enjoy.

Played on 5/14. This was a nice course. A few of the holes are straight shots from tee to green but the others have nice draw or fade requirements from the tee to set yourself up for 2nd shots -- challenging little course (6000+ from "championship" tees). The greens were just recently aerated (May 8-9) so the greens were VERY sandy and with the small aerating holes. Be prepared for that. Overall, a nice course to walk and play...especially after the greens come back.

Very easy course to walk. $23 is well worth anybodys time to play here. p.s. LEARN TO FIX BALL MARKS PEOPLE!!!!

not a difficult course, overall but there can be difficult shots if you stray from the fairways; like any course.

I play here fairly often and the condition always seems to amaze me with the amount of traffice usually found here.
This morning was a rare and special treat.
Arrived at 7:00 a.m. as a single, hit two putts, and was called. Tee'd pff at 7:10 as a twosome (unheard of) and another single caught up with us on the second green. We never saw a group behind and we finally caught the group in front on #13 tee.
Done and driving away at 10:55 and even shot a decent round.
Gotta love that but I'm sure it won't continue at this busy track.
I love this place.

Busy local muni course. Only wish I played better but heat must have gotten to me. Course in really good shape. Greens rolled relatively true but bumpy at times. They actually fix their divots there. Rough is thick but manageable. Fairways were very well maintained. Didn't like hole 10 it stated par 5 but played more like par 4. Course plays very short and almost tempted to bag driver on a good portion of these shorter holes.

Played on 4/17 - this was my first time there and the greens were actually in good shape, besides a few pitch marks, but what can you expect with that amount of traffic! Pace for a Sunday was very well managed which was a plesant suprize! The proshop could be a touch more organised though and with all the new changes to the back nine, I hope they update their scorecards quickly...Overall, great day for the price you pay!

Played last Sunday $35.00 dollars walking only! Due to extreme "rain" the course was under severe water drainage. Customer Service was kinda poor. Due to new "Computer System" that the course Rep's were having a problem with, made it slow to get out. Course under construction on back 9, Tiger Woods Learning Center to be built. Greens were great medium/fast, and fast at sun facing greens. Course worth FEE$.

I played on 2/13 in the morning. It rained the day before, so the course wasn't in great condition, but it was still good enough to play. Some of the fairways have make-shift lakes, but overall it wasn't too bad. Course was challenging enough to make me want to come back.

They have some new holes that just opend, they are interesting, maybe need a more time to grow in. Customer service was great, I hear they have a new golf pro, staff was great. I would say it's a great vaule, and worth it, very busy, plays fairly quickly however.

Played on December 31st in the rain for the first six holes. After the sixth hole, it stopped raining. Due to the rain, many of the fairways and greens were partly under water. They are still working on the 15th and the 17th hole. The length of the 17th hole is just under 300 yards. Pace of play was about 4 1/2 hours (it was not crowded at all). Had a fun time playing in the rain.

Perfect weather and the course has recovered from the heavy rains in middle of last month.
The construction is moving kind of slow it seems, the new 15th hole looks like it could be interesting, 16 is still un-changed as is 18, but 17 has been ruined forever. It is now a 280 yard par 4 but will be a little longer when the new 15, 16, and 17th holes are completed.
New sand in traps, greens were nearly perfect and the staff got me out in a record 12 minutes from time of arrival.
Always a fun day at D. Miller.

There are only 10 holes open. All of the other holes are flooded. They charge 9 hole rates. The holes that are playable are in good condition. As a senior I was charged $12.00 and was able to play as many holes as I wanted.

Watch your speed on the greens. Getting a read is easy, getting the correct speed is not.

The course was in great shape. I played on 9/11 and it was about 100 degrees, so the course was fairly empty. The pace of play was good. The 17th hole has been shortend because of new construction, but it was still fun.

I play this course only once every 4-5 years, so I can't speak to it's "relative" condition, but I found the condition acceptable, about what I expected. The only negative was the 17th hole was shortened from 614 to about 280 yards, due to construction?? The marshall advised me that the 15th is also under reconstruction, but despite the narrowed fairway, it played fine. A nice change of pace from the 7000yd long tough tracks!!

The clubhouse didn't open till 6 AM. Line outside the door of about 25+ people. Figures, city employees don't care. Told myself I wasn't going to play "Dad" Miller anymore.

Played on Wedensday the 7th, the course was in the best condition I have seen it in awhile. Greens were a little slow, but in great shape. In fact I haven't seen greens with so few ball marks at a public course in a VERY long time. There was actually rough along the fairways. We tee'd off at 7:30 and were finished at 11:45, that has to be a record for Dad Miller. Conditions were great, pace was great, and I got to play a round of golf with my Dad. Life just doesn't get much better than that.

Very poor maintenance; maintenance supervisor acknowledged poor condition and mentioned it was due to reconstruction of Tiger Woods learning center. He said fairway brown spots are due to weather.

5 hour round on a weekday??!! This is on a course with no rough! Not only that it is only a 6000 yard course! Lets all pitch in and fight slow play! Marshalls do your job please! Overall easy course, but it can sneak up on you with some OB. 8 doglegs on this course sort of make it interesting. Greens decent shape.

I like the course, except during the time when school lets out. It was hard to get across to the other side of the course. Fairways were somewhat brown, due to cold weather, greeens were a little bumpy.

the course was a good vaule of $ 14.50 for Twilight rate at 1:30 PM. Greens had some bumps to take the speed out of putts overall worth the money

Dad Miller Golf Course is a short, yet fun course to play. The conditions are usually excellent, but if the rainstorms come around, there can a LOT of casual water out on the fairway. The fairways and rough are in great condition, as well as the greens. The greens' speed is towards the quick, fast side, although the rain/water accumulated on the green can drastically slow down putts. The course in short in general, and starts off with a short par 4. Pace of play is usually about one group delay, but because the course is not overly long, that factor should make up for a little slow play.

Course is usually in good condition. This course plays well for beginners and high handicappers. 4.5-5 hour rounds on the weekend. Great place to play during the week with 4 hour or less rounds.
