Good layout very challenging. This is definatly not worth the price. We had a buy one, get free this made it worth it. Fair ways were in good condition, except where they over watered and then the mowers were run all over the areas.

I played this course on July 5. Overall a great golf experience. Nice club house and practice area. Course layout was great. Fairways are in excellent condition. Greens were soft, with a lot of damage. Some traps need more sand/ better maintenance. Pace of play was good. Well worth the cost.

The course was in it's usual good condition, the greens being better than the last time I played. The only complaint I had it that the course was "cart paths only" on the last eight holes, which would not be so bad it there were any yardage markers. Otherwise the pace was great, about 3 1/2 hours.

played 6/7. Great course. it was my first time playing here; so it was a little tough; but very enjoyable. Fairways, rough, greens were in great condition!. I can only say that the teeboxes were good since about a 1/3 of them were unlevel no matter where i teed my ball. Didn't go into the sand; so no comment. Overall a great course.

This is such a fun course to play! Lots of opportunities for birdies and several interesting holes with great views. The course was in very nice shape and the staff was wonderful (As always) I would have to say that the condition was the best I've seen it here for some time! Congrats to the crew!

Played 6/1/08. Course is in really good shape. Fairways are getting green and are very smooth. Greens were in the best shape I have seen them. They are actually pretty fast right now. Very few ball marks even, which was a nice surprise. Staff was great, as usual.

It's been a while since I played Coyote Hills. It is a great layout. Short, 6500yds. from the tips, but you better be accurate. The greens were in good shape, fairways weren't bad, a little thin, but wow do they need to water less. It seemed like every fairway was soggy. Try some fertilizer and a little less water. We were spoiled though. Their replays are $25, very nice. Sadly we played 36. I know, it's a good track to make sure your hitting straight.

Played this course last week in a charity tournament. Don't know how much is Stewart and how much is Olsen but it has a similar CCFAD feel to the design as Mr. Olsen's Mammoth Lakes course which is the only other course of his that I have played. The course is pretty straight forward, all the trouble is off to the sides just daring you to hit it up the middle, not real long so just leave the driver in the bag and you will score well.

The place was in great shape when we played and all the landscape was pretty, again typical CCFAD type stuff, great on aesthetics not much on thought provoking design. Staff ran a great tournament, they do treat you well there.

Played today 2/29. Course is in really good condition. Only half of the green is punched on each green, so as long as you hit a good approach shot, the punching has no effect on putting. Greens running around nine I would say and nice and smooth.

Tee boxes and sand traps are good as always. Fairways are really nice and greening up again already. Rough is up, which I like b/c you are actually penalized for missing the fairway (probably about 3 inches).

Love this course. Staff here is the best of any OC course in my opinion! Also, they have some really good specials right now through ezlinks. You gotta sign up for their email club to get the real deals. Played this morning for $55 on an email offer. Unbeatable for OC golf.

Played today 12/24. I have never seen this course in better shape. Customer service is top notch as always! Greens are really, really quick....probably a true 11, with minimal ball marks. With the coyote club membership, this place is tough to beat for Orange County golf.

I play coyote hills at least 20 rounds a year, this is always a challenging and nice course, just be aware that a lot of first time players who try this course tends to go on the black or gold tees because the yardage for the course is shorter than most. However, since this is a pretty challenging course, you see players who go on black or gold spend a lot of time hitting several balls or looking for lost balls. Also, check to see if they are having a tournament, we had a group held up everybody in the starting hole today, because they went on shotgun, and insist that the group in front and behind them should only be for those who are playing on their shotgun. It later turns out that they went to the wrong hole, which explains why they did not have the people they expected. What jerks!!!

Played on 11/21. Greens are completely healed and seem to have been rolled, definitely cut. Greens are as good as I have seen them at coyote in the last six months. Still some ball marks here and there, but rolling about 9.

Course is recovered from aeration, both fairways and greens.

Course is coming in nicely after the over-seeding. Greens were in great shape. The fairways and rough were great as well, but there were MANY wet areas still from over watering. Over-all, the course is in good shape.

My buddy and I took the chance to play at 1pm. Management was honest and said, its possible not finishing today because its on the slow side. Unfortunately, I had the best game of my life. 7 pars, 2 birdies, 8 GIRs, 30 putts....and then the 18th hole came around....CRAP! I just laughed and chuckled. Anyway, this course is just awesome. One of the reasons I scored well, because I only broke my driver 3 or 4 times. Very target golf and forces you to play smart. Not the sort of golf I normally like of playing, because I love using my driver and its not a very long course. I would recommend playing this course early to get the early bird rate of $55. Greens are interesting, approach shots are challenging but realistic. Have fun and think ahead.

Played today 10/22, senior special $49. Had not played here in over 4 yrs. Started at 7:20 AM, cart paths only. Tee boxes were OK, some divots. Fairways and rough are going dormant, because of the cart paths only there were a lot of divots on the fairways. Greens were still lush but very fast with very few ball marks. Some very nice vistas that were unfortunately spoiled by the smoke from all the fires going on in SO CAL. Got home to find out there are 13 fires burning.

Staff was nice, finished our round in a comfortable, leisurely 3hr50min. No one else on course, a 2some came up on us on the 18th as we were hitting our 2nd shots.

As always the staff is very accomodating. The course is in nice condition, particularly the greens. With everyone else punching their greens this is one of the few places not doing it at this time. Also they allowed the carts in the fairways on all holes. First time I've everplayed here where that was the case. A very fun easy course, but still interesting enough to make you think.

I played this course on Wednesday afternoon, 9-12. It was pretty hot and not crowded, so the pace was fine once the foursome ahead let us play through. The course is in pretty good shape for the time of year--a few bare spots in the fairways--and the greens rolled true. I played from the whites because my buddy does, and from there the course seems short, but it seems short even from the blues. I used driver only 3-4 times because the landing areas are pretty narrow, and from where I landed my 3-wood tee shots, the approach shots were usually no longer than 150 yards to the green. I like that the fairways bordering the edge of the course are marked as lateral hazards rather than OB, which speeds the game up, as do the drop areas on the par threes. Not a good course for you if you spray it around off the tee with driver or woods. If you do, you're better off using irons off the tee.

Wow and not a good WOW another new manager plus the outside service guys dont listen. The kid asked me if he could take my clubs and I said I am okay and he still grab them and put them on a cart and most of all put out his hand and asked for a tip. To me that is just rude. Great golf course but wont be back.

A wonderful course with great views. I enjoyed the different types of holes. Not the same layout hole after hole, like some of the courses around the area. I like having to plan out my shots. The fairways and greens are well kept. The staff was really great and took care of all my needs. I played on a thursday and didn't have to worry about waiting to tee off at any holes. I look forward to playing this course this weekend.

Made the drive over here today. It's a nice target golf layout and does not suffer from typical target style gimmicks with too many blind shots, etc. Good variety of holes. Course was in good condition but was heavily over-watered in spots. Would definitely play again.

Played Tuesday 8-21-07 and course was short but in good shape. Greens very receptive, but rolled a little slow. The range was closed on Tuesday morning, A little slow pace of play because there was a tournament, but the course was fun. Would play again, it is a nice course and in good shape.

Played Wednesday 8/15 and course was in pretty good shape though there were some wet spots from overwatering. Course is a little pricey at their standard rates, but, if you can get a good discount it is worth playing. Short and fun with a lot of elevation changes. Always enjoy coming back here.

Played before 6am to get early bird special at $100 ($125 after 6am) but I think it is costly. I believed the high green fees showed in the number golfers - two 2-some in front of us, one 3-some and one 2-some after us. Green fee asides, it is a fun course in great conditions. Some greens are partially punched by putted well. I will return again but will definitely play early bird special to save money.

Course was in very nice condition. My only complaint is carts on the path the front nine. Greens were too slow for my tatse, but otherwise OK. Looks like they are trying to make an effort to get this course back to where it was years ago. Good to see! The staff was very felxible in allowing me to go out as a single. Fun track, short, easy, but fun!

Course was in great condition. Greens were fast, but I was dissapointed at the amount of unrepaired ball marks. All of the ball marks were fresh. I guess for the price they charge, the morning regulars don't feel like they have to repair their ball marks. Pace of play was mixed. Front nine was 1.5 hours, and back nine took 2.5 hours. Can't complain about a 4 hour round. The high green fees keeps the course from getting too crowded. There's definitely value there.

I don't think the course is worth $125, but it is worth their twilight rate of $75. It's a short, but very interesting and challenging course.

Played Saturday with a 9:40am tee time. Pace was excellent (4hr, 9min) and didn't see group in front of us until 12th tee box. Conditions are good. Greens are rolling nicely with only issues arising from unrepaired divots. Few annoying areas of casual water on the fairways and some bare rough areas around the greens are the only complaint I would have about the round. Everything else is top notch. With the OC Trail Card 30% off, I think the price becomes very fair for this course ($88).

Played sat.6-23-07 afternoon after +1year last time played here.
Always quite tranquille & relaxing course with lots of high position view playing with water ,creek & trees.
Superior quality of GPS & good pace of play & right on tee off time ( even earlier).
Everything in good shape except green speed was little bit slow than we expected.
Rack rate of more than $100.00 seems little bit expensive.

A perfecy day for golf. The course itself was very enjoyable, with some fantastic views. It is more of a tactical course with the driver only really being needed on the two par fives.Lots of obstacles to catch you out even when the hole looks easy.
I was a bit disappointed with the value. I paid the full green fee of $125 and would of at least expected some water bottles or a basket of range balls for the price.
I would play it again though because it really was an enjoyable round.

Really nice course, good condition with great greens that run very "true". Not a long course and several holes only consist of drive and a wedge but it's tight in places and wayward shots get punished. Thoroughly enjoyable and the tee shot on the 7th is worth the entrance fee alone. That said the rates are somewhat overpriced but the twilight rate is good value. $125 for a weekend is not though.

Back to CA for a visit and a round of golf. Found Coyote Hills to be in good shape. Course is certainly very sporty and offers some fun shots. Plenty of elevation change, obviously, and greens that will keep you guessing to be sure. $125 weekend feels mighty steep for this layout but you certainly won't feel like you're playing a muni and it is apparent that they do work hard to keep it in good shape. Worth a round.

I would play this course again and again. The wind was not a factor the day I played but I understand it can blow pretty hard up in the hills and that could make the course play much harder than it is. The rental clubs were a little pricey but a very good set of clubs to swing if you don't have your own with you. Everyone treated me well and made the day that much more enjoyable.

It's a nice golf course w/ an interesting layout. Customer service was excellent as well, but you'd expect that for a course that charges around $100 for a round. Tough to read greens compensate well enough for relatively short fairways and made the round challenging. The course is in good shape overall. If the green fee wasn't so high, it would be well worth visiting again numerous times.

Played on 3/11 12:00 Pm tee time. Read earlier post and now I know why the course was playing 5 hours. The greens need another week to fill in from aeration. Interesting course layout. $125 is a lot of money for this course if the earlier post is right about the GPS disappearing in new carts.

Played sun 3/11 8am shotgun. this course is a very interesting and fun layout. BUT... everytime i play here, it's one thing or another with management... which always leads to a long round. they have a poor system with tee times and organizing golfers. I always get the impression that the actual tee time means nothing, and it's first come first served to tee off. Today, we had a 8am shotgun. I am in the 4th group, starting on 18... we get to number one, and only the 1A group 9the leaders of the shotgun) has teed off, with 2 groups waiting! Apparently, as they were about to tee off, the starter stopped them and put a paying group in front of them, so they were delayed 15 min, which put everyone 30 min wait the rest of the day on the first tee. uggh. anyways, course in pretty good shape. greens are recovering from aeration last week.. they were a little bumpy and alot slow.. another uggh... and no more GPS! new carts, no gps. same old 125 green fee. For $125, there should be gps, and no waiting.

Course is in terrible condition. The fairways are all brown and the course overall should be in better condition for the green fee. The layout is very nice and scenic but they just really let the course go. Only thing good about playing here was since it was so expensive hardly anyone was out on a Sunday morning.

Played 2/23/07. The fairways were more like cart paths than grass. If you plan on playing here don't get your hopes up. The course has a few nice holes but overall is very so so. Green fees for this course are way out of line and not even nearly worth it. If you can snag a 2 for 1 coupon MAYBE you'll find it worth while. I didn't have much more than a short club for each approch since it seems like every hole measures 350 yards. Shot 75 with the flu from the black tees and didn't really find the course very challenging. If the green fees were around 50 bucks it would be worth it. I'd rate it a 6 out of 10.

Very disappointed with the conditions. Fairways are browned out and very little grass on the tee areas. Don't undersdtand why they didn't overseed to maintain conditions during the winter. Last year the course was excellent throughout the winter months. Either frost-related problems or money-related decisions.

Played 1/29. All the fairways are dormant -- brown, stringy grass. It is quite a weird experience to see just the fairways brown and everything else green. The greens are rolling great. This is always a fun course. Very challenging with the elevated tees and tight fairways. Service is great.

This is the best course I have played at so far. The lay out is very enjoyable, the course is in great condition and very challenging. I have absolutely no complaints about this course. You pay more but the experience is unmatched with anything else. The carts are great too, they have GPS system so you know how far you hit, and where you need to go. One thing I really loved about the course is the time we were able to take at each hole. We didn't have to worry about rushing through, no marshals eyeing us. Staff is very nice, if you play one course a year, this has to be it!

First time plaing here. Never played a par 70 before. Not sure if I really enjoyed this course. Was in the 2nd group off in the morning and finished way under 4 hours. After the first hole, never saw anyone in front or behind. Was a fairly quiet, pleasent atmosphere, except for the squeaking oil wells. Had a fairly inconsistent driving game and the course was not very forgiving. Staff was great in getting me out earlier than reserved tee time. Greens were consistent and fast. Did well out of the sand as it was very firm and compact, basically played like soft dirt, not sand.

Great customer service, smooth fast (10-11) greens, GPS in carts is great. Dormant fairways play great and look outstanding against the overseeded rough. Tricky in the wind though, with the canyons and elevated tees. I'd pay to play it anytime.

Tee'd off at 8:10 right after some showers. The sun came out and the coarse drained well. A little soggy in places, which is expected. The coarse is narrow and very short. Only 2 par 5s. I used my driver only 7 times. The greens were very bumpy and surprisingly fast for being wet. Customer service is excellent. Only one complaint. When making reservations, I told the person I had a OC Trails discount card. When we got to the coarse, they didn't honor the card because 4 days before Christmas is considered a part of the holiday blackout period. $110 instead of $66, plus all the tips you have to dish out. I have many posts on this but wanted to comment as to current conditions and GREAT customer service today. Greens are impecable right now, fairways are in good shape although not the lush green they usually are as it is winter. Sand traps are clean and no bare spots around in the rough. Only item a little under the weather are the tee boxes. Very beat up right now and need some love. The service today was even better than normal. Even received a 25% off coupon for a future round from the Marshall due to a group two spots ahead of us taking way to long. They had 3 holes open in front of them so it was a nice gesture. However, even with the slow-pokes, finished in just over 5 hours. All in all, a nice round.

Played as a single at twilight on a Tuesday (started at 1:40) and got in 17 holes before pitch black. Fun layout with lots of elevated tees and nice views. Sort of weird playing so close to oil pumping wells but the everything is else is quite nice so you don't notice them too much. Some fairways are quite narrow and strangely I lost a couple balls right around the green complexes because the rough was deep enough to hide the ball when the light was poor. Maintenance crew messed up my play on one hole with their sprinklers and then soaked me on the tee box of the next hole which was annoying. Other than that a fun experience.

Played Thanksgiving day. Teed off at 11am and course was empty. finished at 3:15 with plenty of time for Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Course is an good shape, some soggy areas in the fairways but not bad. Greens are in very good shape and bunkers have plenty of sand. Course plays very short, make sure you play the right club off the tee. Once you get that down your scores will go down also. Great course but play from the tips.

Played Sunday morning, arrived at starter 5 minutes before my tee time but they were running 30 min ahead so I got out as a single which was great. Thanks to all those folks with good etiquette who allowed me to push through but those who didn't, it became a bit frustrating. As for the course, conditions are coming around nicely. Greens have fully recovered now and rolling true. Fairways still dry at parts but they are working on them. Several holes still cart path only at this point. Customer service, as always, is excellent. As I have posted many times before, a great track and, with the OC Trails Card 30% off, a great value by OC standards.

Played Tuesday 17th,tourny,free. Only in Orange County would they pay $90 during the week for a 5600 yd course that plays shorter due to elevated tees and doglegs. Granted it is in terrific shape, but come on !!!! If ya cant score here ya might as well give up the game. Its way overpriced, way too short, way too much into itself. As I said, its in great shape, staff is wonderful, but,, hitting hybrids every other hole off the tee is a joke. Played the blues due to tourny rules. OK,, I wont be paying my $$ for this, but I am sure some OC folks will and think they are getting a good deal. Good for them. I would pay half once in awhile,, no more. Too many options within easy driving distance.

Played last Sunday (9/3) morning and finished in just over 4 1/2 hrs...This was the first time playing here and enjoyed the course layout (although it is a little on the short side, played from the black tees), especially the elevated tees. The fairways and most of the greens were in good condition. The greens could be in a lot better condition if people would fix their own and other's ball marks. For the price, range balls should have been included. Overall, had a good time and will definitely come back...

Note to self: Next time play from the Gold Tees. Course plays really short. Lost balls will be a problem here even at closer tee boxes if you can't place the ball where you want it. Course in beautiful shape. Still needs spots for better shade but aside from that, there is plenty of water. Tell the gal driving the cart to be sure to STOP and ask if we want something. Thought I waved her down but she drove right past me. Had to jump out of the cart and literally yell after her. Tee boxes are flat. They rotate the tee positions well -- no bad scarring. Greens are fantastic. Occasional unfixed divot but rolls very true. Some spots on the greens were bad but only perhaps 1 hole back 9 -- the par 5 comes to mind. Fairways were lush. Rough was well tough. Don't go in it. Round played fast considering we had gal in our group.

Course was a little rough around the edges, but nice enough. A few bumpy greens but otherwise in nice condition. Using the coupon in L A Times reduces greens fees to $49, which makes the course worth the $$. Otherwise too much for this course. Fun course with some dramatic views and interesting holes.

Course has seen better days... Staff trying to deal w/ recent heat , but course was soaked. Lots of ruts(carts),mud spots and ground under repair(sod patches). Greens were decent, fixed my ball mark and one extra(out of courtesy). PLEASE FIX YOUR MARKS/DIVOTS, IT'S PART OF THE GAME, PERIOD..!! Played at noon on a Fri. as a two, no one in front or back for 10 holes, awesome.. But I believe that was due to $110 fee, we played w/ 2 fer coupon so it was not as bad, but , with all the golf in so. cal is there a course worth $100+ weekday?? Have'nt seen one yet, this course included...

Played Sat 07/08. Joined a company tournament and had to pay only $40 with Lunch included. Great price and enjoy the round. Coyote Hills is very nice course. Short but interesting course. However, I will not pay $110 to play this course. Total yardages from Blue tees are only ~5618. Very short. Certain holes have nice views but compare to Robinson Ranch or Moorpark, they are nothing. Fairways and greens are OK similar to other well maintain publice courses. Nothing really stand out for $110 green fees. Practice range is very nice.
Bottom line: for $40 - thumbs up but for $110, BIG Thumbs DOWN

mzehner wrote a perfect review for coyote hills condition! If you have never played there before you probably won't even notice the stuff that mzehner was talking about. However, his review was very very accurate.

I played on Sunday, July 2. Coyote has seen better days. I play this course at least once a month, and zehner was completely right about the recent heat taking its toll on the course. Fairways are mixed dry patches and wet spots. Tee boxes are fairly beat up. And greens were normal (this means good).

All these bad spots have sprung up over the last couple weeks because I played two weeks ago and the course was excellent. I would not be discouraged if you are planning on playing here anytime soon, as you could always do much worse in Orange County.

Another tip: Play super twilight here on the weekend! This time of year, finishing is no problem at all and the price is $45, cheaper than a at least a dozen much crappier courses in the area. Actually, cheaper than almost any course in OC on the weekend!

This course is always nicely maintained. Greens were in good shape, have seen it smoother in the past. Not very long course, you can easily reach most greens in regulation if you are straight and choose your clubs wisely. The last 3 holes on the front 9 are specatacular with the elevation changes. Also the par 3's on the back 9 are just beautiful with the creek and babbling stream running thru these holes. One of my favorite courses...wish it was a bit cheaper though.

Although I am biased a bit as I love this course and layout, my play this weekend was a bit frustrating. The heat has dried out the fairways to the point where they are getting uneven. One area will be slightly browning while others in the shade are a little soggy from the extra water being used to keep them lush. This is a bit out of the course's control, but something to be wary of as you play. Also, the heat has slowed the regrowth on tee boxes and there is much more divot damage than usual. Final complaint has nothing to do with weather or management, but players... FIX YOUR DIVOTS! I had no less than three puts change direction because of poor player manners. If you aren't going to respect the high end courses, go back to the bargain tracks.

Played at first light - zipped around. Course was in very nice condition! The staff was exceptional! This is such a fun course to play - very scoreable and always in nice shape. Only complaint is sometimes GPS was not too accurate. Wish some of the other "high end" courses would cater to their customers like Coyote does!

Absolutely great conditions. Only negative was that greens were a bit sandy but putts rolled true. Fairways and rough was thick with only a divot marks. Lots of workers on the course keeping the condition up. Played in less than 4 hours on a Tuesday AM - never saw anyone if front of me or behind. If you're planning on playing during the week check if they are having a tournament. It is highly booked and if you are behind one of their tournaments, the round can easily turn in a 6 hour nightmare.

First time playing this course and was very impressive. The tee boxes are perfect. The greens are perfect and roll fast right now. A pretty short but challenging course. A lot of elevation changes leaf to fun play and some nice views of OC. The green fees are high but this is a top quality course and the twighlight prices are pretty fair given that pace of play is great... 4 1/4 hrs on a weekend. This is now one of my new favorite courses.

I started 2006 's round playing at Coyote hills 1/5/06.thursday.Usually I don't play weekday but this vacation season permitted to play and was pleasant rounding. Fairways little bit wet & short grass for me and greens not rolled fast as looking.Their GPS system is the best in socal courses.Exact distance, measurement of front & back of greens, yardage to water hazards to right selection of clubs, even you can order your lunch at 8th hole to save time at snack bar. If they could recover the velocity of greens they used to be always no doubt is one of the best golf course.

played 12/22 -- the course is in very good condition. the fairways were cut low and the greens were rolling great. it looked like a few of the tee boxes were bombed because they were in such bad shape. shame they haven't fixed this problem yet as it seems to be a recurring problem. the service as expected was spectacular -- from the time your greeted in the parking lot to when you turn in the cart.

Pace of play here is excellent, 4 hours, & marshall is always there to help. Course is scenic & hilly; you'll enjoy the visual appeal of this course. Condition is below the last time we were here, i.e., most fairways/rough are soggy wet, but the greens are still good. Green fees are on the high side.

Played this course on 11/23, fairly crowded with the pre-thanksgiving crowd...however played at a nice pace. Not a very long course if you are a big hitter as several of the members of my group. They hardly used their drivers. Front nine plays very differently from the back 9. Front 9 more like target golfs with some spectacular holes....especially with #7.....large drop to the fairways below and on a clear day, you can even see downtown LA. Back 9, more forgiving and wide open....love the babbling brooks and creeks and 2 very beautiful Par 3's. Love this course, I am not a very long hitter and can score if i think about my shots and putt better. Also wish the green fees were not as steep

Teed off On Thanksgiving day at 11 and finished in 4 hours with plenty of time to spare for Dinner. Club selection is a must here. Can't pull out Driver on a lot of holes or you risk driving it through the fairway. For some reason the fairways we were very soggy but the greens were in perfect shape. Had a great time and very thankful to be spending the day golfing.

This golf course is suitable for Pro Player not for weekend golfer especially for those slicer or hook player, this is not the place. To play well and more enjoyable have your 3 wood and long iron, course condition is ok not what I expected, tee box is horrible...I won't pay 110 to get this kind of tee box, service is excellent. If not for GPS...no way I will play this course again, ever.

went out a little before twilight and the course was empty. a weekend round under 3 hours definitely made it worth the discounted tee time, but never the full rate. their service is nice and marshals were everpresent. conditions were subpar for the price they are charging. greens were relatively smooth but slow. aprons were uneven with many bare patches, which only got worse in the rough. otherwise a decent and narrow course.

Staff not familiar with current adverts from American Golf. He questioned the coupon we presented. However in the end gave us the benefit of the doubt. Nice course. Tight, and definately not for bombers. Tee off with irons/3 wood more likely. Greens were smooth and players there FIXED THEIR DIVOTS. If you know me that's my personal pet peeve and they actually were some of the best greens I have putted on in quite a while. As a buddy of mine said, "You can definately see the difference when you pay the money for some of these quality courses." Fairways were neat and trimmed. But what was the deal with the tee boxes? They were cutting the grass but somehow we always hit from the boxes that were uncut and uneven. If not for that would offer higher rating but hey you need something to complain about.

Surprisingly poor conditions for this course. Fairways were very thin and brown some fairways were wet since it was very warm and they were presumably trying to prevent the fairways from getting worse. I was only paying $20 so it is hard to complain but I would not want to pay their standard $90 under the current conditions.

Coyote Hills has amazing customer service, the course is always in great shape and it's a fun layout. There are some great views and interesting holes on the front 9, but unfortunately there are no Par 5's on the front and it plays to a 34. The best part, though, is that it isn't overcrowded like every other LA course, and the golf is pretty good. But ssshhhh, don't tell anyone.

Top rate service by all everybody, from bag drop to cart return. Encountered few brown spots, but overall fairways and greens were in excellent shape, though greens had recently been punched, which probably was reason for internet discount. Might be a little pricey at $90- 110, but discounts and great service make this a steal. Will even book a single, if there is an opening available with another group.

Played 4-17 in my club's monthly tournament. Always very impressed with the service at this course. From the bag drop to the shuttle to the range, and the club cleaning after the round, they treat you very well. All the employees are very cheerful and helpful. Course was in great shape from tee to green. Fairways were hard though, so be careful on club selection. Even pulling irons for tee shots you could go way longer than expected, especially with a little draw or fade. The electronic scoring was cool also, it gave us a leaderboard for our tournament, wish I could have been higher on it.

Conditions are top notch. Sanded the greens about a week ago and they are now super smooth and getting faster every day. Ground crew seems to be working all the time to keep things in shape. This course is in flat out super condition. Don't let the yardage and par of 70 lull you into thinking this is an easy track. From back two sets of tees you need to hit it straight and the wind off the hillsides can cause big problems.

Well worth the $55 special American GOlf is running in the LA times, but not at the regular rates. This was about my 5th time playing Coyote Hills and I have always enjoyed this layout. Course is in good shape, but the greens were a touch bumpy and inconsistant. We played as a 4 some. The starter sent 2 straight 2 somes out behind us. We let the first group play thru #2 and then let the 2nd group hit up and go thru on the par 3 3rd hole. The marshall then comes up to us on #4 and tells us that according to the GPS, we are 6 minutes behind and that we need to pick up the pace!! When told that we had just let 2 groups of 2 play through, and that maybe the starter could have been a bit smarter on that decision, he had to get in the last word and say "I don't care, make sure you stay behind the group in front of you (which we had waited on prior to our tee shot). Thumbs down to the staff!!

Beautiful golf course. Conditions are great right now. Surrounding vegetation is a lush as I’ve seen it. Hole 9 is one of the best tee shots in the county. Make sure you tee off from the back to get the full effect. Jump on the twilight rate or look for discount. Green fees are a bit too much. I’d still treat myself about once or twice a year but knock $15 off the weekend rate, and I’m there once a month. Great course.

Played on 10/30 and they were overseeding but from what I saw the fairways were fairly similar to the last time I played. Some thin (especially the back 9) but still playable. Greens are GREAT and the front 9 has some of the BEST views from the tee boxes in ALL of OC. I wouldn't pay full price but the 1/2 price rate was WELL worth it!!

Don't be fooled by the short yardage. You can hit a good shot on this course that will somehow end up OB and cost you. Beware of "Sunday" pin placements when greens are firm as a good approach can end up well off the green. This course is a fun challenge, but probably only well worth the money during twilight or some other discounted rate. I would never pay full fee.

Course is in great shape, greens have the fewest divot marks of any course I've played in OC. A good putt will roll true, from any distance. Fairways are a bit thinner than I'd like but the caretakers meticulously keep them and the surrounding rough trimmed to near perfection. The service was friendly and attentive. I was especially impressed w/ the fairway and greenside bunkers. I played @ 3pm on Mon and there was not 1 bunker that hadn't been groomed and raked. What a pleasant surprise. This is a gem of a course.

Be sure to have a straight driver if you're heading here. There are many elevated tees to hit from. Distance is not the limiting factor here, as the course plays much shorter than the 6500 yds (back tees), but you have to hit pretty straight. Lots of severe penalties if you spray it.

Played saturday 2;00 pm .HOOOOOT DAY !!! I guess more than 100 degrees. Really hot weather affected my game physically & mentally all day. All in good condition but green was pretty slow considering the level of golf course.

Played on Fri 9/3 & only major drawback right now is that some fairways seem kind of thin. I like to have my ball sit up more and it actually was better to hit out of the rough on some fairways because the thinness of the fairways. Greens rolled very true, GREAT views, finished in 4 hours (rolling at our own pace). Front 9 holes is worth the price of admission & back 9 is not as dramatic. Course still plays short and even I was keeping my driver in my bag on some par 4's to tee off. Target golf at it's finest. Paid only $50!!!! NICE!!!

played on 8/25 in the middle of a Wal-Mart tournament! Very strange. It also took us over 3 hrs to play front 9 before tournament players finished. Nobody repaired ball marks, they left balls on the course making things confusing, left tees stuck in greens. Tee boxes had lots of divot damage which I'll blame on tournament also. If I had paid anywhere near full price I would have asked for a refund. The back 9 (just over 2 hrs) was a lot more fun.

Good fun course! Short but plenty of trouble, especially if you can't keep it straight. Tee boxes are have a few areas that need improvement, especially for left handers. Fairways are good and GPS helps where to aim. Rough is trouble, but it's supposed to be. Greens were a bit dissapointing. Fair amount of divots and too slow! Carts are great with the new GPS system with all the features to help your way around. Service is excellent with the carts running around the course, but a bit pricy! Overall a good thinking type of track, but as everybody says, too pricy. Deals are available if you are a good internet hunter but why should I have to be?

And why would you say it resembles a muni??? Do you play muni’s because Coyote Hills is far from a muni. I played the course last week and granted they are doing some needed maintenance around the green complexes but in general the course was in very good shape. I want to know the munis you play so I can play them too.

This course is going down hill. It used to have an upscale feel. Now its resembling a muni. The greens were full of ball marks.

yes, a nice round at Coyote Hills. Overall conditions are very good although some massive chunks of rough surrounding a couple of greens were mssing???? Greens held well with good speed, sand was nice & easy to get out of (I ended up in traps on 7 holes), fairways were well maintained although a couple were on thin/hard side (on the back 9). Tee boxes and rough were in tip top shape. A great course with some nice views and actually relatively short. Target golf as you gotta stay in the fairways or your ball is lost in the weeds. Paid $70 but teed off b4 7am and completed round in 3.5 hours.

This is an awesome track, though regular rates are slightly overpriced. However, there are always DISCOUNTED greens fees available through American Golf's e-mail discounts or also through the Collegiate Golf Alliance (www.cgagolflinks.com/acgrewards).

Service at this course is top-notch and their new carts with GPS, color hole maps, and score keeper are a great perk.

played 5/30. Play here 2x/mo always fun especially the front 9. short course but plenty of chances to get in trouble especially if you miss the fairway. Overpriced but there are plenty of deals that make it worthwhile.

Play here acouple of times a month so no surprises. Pace was good as usual though we were a little slow a 4hours & 20 min. After the 4th hole we never saw anyone in front or behind us. Bunkers were a little better than usual with looser sand but the greens were slow and thin in some spots, but, overall conditions were very good.

Great conditions. Greens are slow because of the previous day's rain. Course has very good drainage. Hardly any places with mud, and no standing water.

Played twilight today and finished in 4 hrs. They aerated the fairwayswhich was a problem only if your ball landed in a hole. Greens were a little more bumby then usual but it was late. As always fun to play here.

We got special email pricing on Sunday of $83 each-otherwise we would have been very upset to pay full price (over $100) and have aerated greens.I should have checked greenskeeper.org before making my tee time!

Played here on 3/25 and it is still one of my favorite courses. Fairways narrow and in good condition; stay out of the rough which was very high in some places. Greens were aerated about 2 weeks ago, but, you can hardly tell. I play it 1or2x/mo because of AGPA bargains, but, I don't think it is worth the $90 they now charge during the week especially since they just started to charge for range balls too.

We played last Saturday morning, we were the 3rd 2-some to tee off. They send 2-somes out instead of 4. I can't remember the last time a golf course did that but then again, I normally don't play $60 dollar plus courses. The course was in excellent shape except for some of the sand traps which were getting a little thin in the center. We played in less than 4 hours and could've fihish earlier if my friend hadn't sprayed so many tee shots off the fairway. Great Couse I just wish the fees were a bit more manageable.

played Sunday 2/15. pricey at $110 but course is fun with tough greens which are very fast and difficult to read breaks. Short even fron the blues, probably safer to leave the driver in the bag since you never really need it.

Great course, and just as importantly great staff. Really make you feel important from the time you get there, through the rides to and from the range, and until you leave. Course was in excellent shape, very tough greens, fairways beautiful. If you keep the ball in play, you can score.

Coyote Hills is a wonderful and challenging course that was in top condition. The views were spectactular from some of the highest holes. The junior rate was great at $25 with cart monday through thursday. Well worth my money.

Played here on 1/15/04 in the morning and it was pretty empty so they let us go out as a 2some. Course in pretty good shape though greens were a little thin in spots and sand in bunkers not great, but this is still a fun course with several elevated tees. Don't let the short yardage fool you b/c if you miss the fairways it will cost and it is easy to lose balls (and gain penalties) in the brush. This is one of my favorite courses in OC.

This is the 3rd time I have played Coyote Hills in the last year. The course was in great shape. I was surprised how soft, but quick, the greens played. The surprised lasted the entire round, as evidenced by my number of putts. The course is tight and you do not need the driver on too many holes. However, if you can keep the drives straight, you will be looking at many PW's into the greens. Course conditions, with the exceptions ofthe tee boxes were great. Some of the tee's were not level and a tad bare. As far as value for the money, I only rated it a 50-50 because I had a 2-for-1 coupon. No way I would play at $90 on a Monday (non-holiday). I played Tierra Rejada and Robinsons Ranch over the last week, and no way-no how does this course deserve the higher green fee. Over all, a really good experience, but only with the coupons.

Love Coyote Hills Golf Course. Lots of elevation changes and thinking man holes. Pretty short so no need to break out the big dog much. Fairways have responded great to the overseeding last month. Enjoyed the course immensely today. Will be back soon!

played 11/13 and only complaint was greens still pretty bumpy from aeration. This is always are fun course. It's a short course (par 70) but if you miss the fairways you're in trouble. A little pricey unless you can get the senior rate after 11:00am.

Played on 9/21, some soggy spots around the rough & fairway. Greens were not that bad if you get to the center of the green or go flag hunting and actually execute. Overall fairly decent conditions...

still aerated greens, very dry fairways. Not worth the green fee for this bad condition course. only play in the spring when conditions are good. Raised green fees! wasting your money if you play here in the next 2 or 3 months. Very slow play for a upscale course

The club washers are getting more aggressive these days. We were ambushed on the 18th green this time. You would think that a club that charges $100 green fees could afford to pay their help a decent wage so that the patrons would not have to endure such unwanted aggressive panhandling.
