Decided since rain was predicted for Wednesday, Thursday and the end of the week I would squeeze in a little golf well it was dry. Closed the shop early and walked on at Lake Forest Gold and Practice ... Continue »

Had to kill some time while my bride did some shopping. Expected it to be packed, and while there were people, it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. I did kind of skip around, which helped. Course was... Continue »

Topic: No Drivers on the Driving Range!
Posted: Mar 9, 2017
First time back here since all the rain. Only the south half of the mats area is open - upper and lower. Grass area closed, because almost the entire left side screen is down - damaged by the storms. Poles collapsed and a power line was taken out. Putting green open.

Called today and the 'structure' part of the range (the mats) is still closed. Grass range is open, but by reservation only.

This hole is quite difficult. From the tee, the ideal shot is somewhere in the 170-190 yard range. Tee shots short and to the left of the fairway are not good because large trees will hamper your view to the green. Beware of hitting your tee shot into the bunker on the right, you always get a tricky lie and a VERY hard second shot. People tend to hit their approach shots long to avoid the creek in front, but there is more room in front of the green than it appears from the fairway.

I can't tell ou how many times I have seen balls come up short on this hole. This hole is slightly uphill and the large trees behind the green make it look closer than it really is. Make sure you get the ball to the hole. Don't trust your eyes, make sure your swing is good enough to get the ball about 80-90 yards depending on the tees and hole placement.
