Greens are the best part of this course, rolling smooth & true. Quality varies in the bunkers & some fairways. Good layout with many tee shots calling for the driver.

Play frequently since retired military and normally pace of play is ok unless they have non-military sponsored tourney. New club house but money on course renovations could have been better spent on reseeding course with better quality grass- but government goes with low bidders and you can tell.They jacked prices up to pay for contractor mistakes.

I really like the layout especially the greens. Some of the greens are bent grass a favorite for putters. Hopefully they will all be soon. Time of play on the weekends has slowed significantly over the past 3 years with some rounds approaching 6 hours. Recent changes in the food service has cold hot dogs at the shack, no drink carts on the course and some of the worst tasting food I ever eaten at a "military" course. Be prepared for a challenging round and have low expectations of the food and drink service.

The course was amazing, A little tight off the tee, but not severly enough to ruin anyones day! The greens are tricky and fast! The rough was challenging but playable. Overall a great day at the best ... Continue »

Played 6/21. This is a fun course with a lot of water (pretty appropriate considering it's a Navy course) in play on many holes. A lot of dog legs so ball placement is key off the tee. The condition of all features is good. Some of the fairways are punched and sanded to regrow the grass but no big deal. At least they're improving the conditions. The main feature of this course are the greens. They are very undulating which puts more pressure on your approach shot because you will want to land on the right shelf where the hole is. Otherwise, hope your putting is up to it. Greens are smooth rolling but pretty slow. Great test and very enjoyable to walk.

Played saturday june-9-07 morning for the very first time but I could say BINGO!!!!
I always wanted to experience this course after opened to the public golfers but system of no take reservation (1st come,1st play) gave me uncertain security to get tee time without knowing how long you have to wait to tee off so finally I headed to other course with tee time reserved.
It's one of nearer course from my home & 1st impression of very nice clubhouse receiving people & pretty quiet & tranquille ambient than I expected.
Wonderful landscape everywhere like flower gardens,lakes with ducks even you can see strawberry farm & runways for F-16(am I lying?) too. Tee boxes generally in good shape.
Fairways better conditions.
Greens clean & well maintained but speed is slow although looks big undulated lie.
We saw 2 marshalls or staffs always working & moving.
One constantly refilling seedsands into divots & other one reached to my playing partner the wallet dropped from his golf bag that he did not know.We really surprised & appreciated .
Location near beach add fresh breeze into your face.
If they start to receive the phone reservation I would do this my home course to play more a lot.

This had been one of my favorite courses and I couldn't believe it now had a 5.03 rating. I played it this week and I still cannot believe the rating - only now I think it is rated too high. In one word the course is AWFUL. Fairways are a mixture of many types of grass with bald spots mixed in. The 'grass' is cut so short that you get 60 yards of roll on the tee shot. Greens are passable but very bumpy. Almost every group was a fivesome and I finally picked up afte a 3 hour front nine. I guess that after spending the big money for a new clubhouse, there's nothing left to keep the course maintained. Didn't see one person working on the course during my Monday morning round.
